Lacet House has everything you could ask for, I genuinely wouldn't look beyond this property if you're after an excellent stay in the Lake District. It's located centrally in Ambleside, just a short walk from all the main amenities or from the shores of Lake Windermere itself, we particularly enjoyed visiting the two local bookshops as well as a number of excellent local pubs and restaurants, the Temperance Inn being our particular favourite. Louise was incredibly helpful, super friendly and provided some excellent local suggestions. We were staying for a wedding and upon arrival were provided with contact details for two local taxi firms. We really enjoyed chatting to Louise each morning and she made us feel very much at home! Breakfast was cooked to order by Shaun, and is truly an excellent fry up but there are lighter options if preferred. For us however, the fry up was the perfect way to start a couple of busy days. Our room was spacious, clean and very modern. We also had some excellent views of the surrounding hills. I could not recommend Lacet House enough and if we are ever back in Ambleside we will be sure to stay here again.

Refreshments included in the room which was replenished the next day and the room freshened up which was massively welcomed particular coming back from an all day vigorous hike. The owners were very social and lovely to talk with and they had a friendly dog. Breakfast was not included in our room but we had the option of it and could easily request the night before. Although, we chose to eat out so can’t comment on the breakfast.
The shower was a slight let down, the temperature cut off mid shower which was a bit unpleasant and the power of the shower was on the weaker side. Although there was off road parking it’s limited to approx 4-5 cars. I wouldn’t say it was a huge negative because luckily for us it didn’t end up being an inconvenience but could see it being if your car was the one blocked in. However, the accommodation has free parking which was a bonus.

Louise and Sean were both very hospitable, they were friendly and welcoming and created a very relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was lovely, the room was nice and clean, the bed was comfy and the showers are very powerful too. We liked it so much that we booked it for my partners parents to stay for their wedding anniversary in September- Louise and Sean let us select which room we would like for this and helped us to add some personal touches, which we are very grateful for. The location is also brilliant. Overall we loved our stay at Lacet House and we will definitely be coming back again. We could not recommend this place enough.

Like many reviewers have stated before, all of the credit has to go to Louise and Shaun. The location is superb, everything you would want from a comfortable, well furnished and good value place to stay that's close to amenities, and even the views from the front door are stunning (and that's all great), but, the people make a place, and the team here (Tess the Spaniel plays a crucial supporting role) have absolutely nailed it. We couldn't fault a thing and will absolutely be back without even looking at anywhere else to stay in the area, you are doing a superb job and we're very grateful to you for making our stay brilliant.

Lacet House was the perfect location for our Lake District stay. Close proximity to local restaurants, pubs and shops in Ambleside, as well as other nearby tourist spots, such as Bowness-on-Windermere and popular hiking routes. Louise and Shaun were excellent hosts, super friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety on offer. Our bedroom was very spacious and impeccably clean. We all hope to return to Lacet House in the future and would happily recommend it to everyone.
There is nothing to dislike about this property.

Louise and Sean are amazing hosts. Gave great advice on places to visit and how to get about in the lakes. We decided not to use our car as can explore local POI (e.g. caves and waterfalls) on foot from accommodation, and can easily get about on the local bus service, £2 per single journey (we included a day trip to Keswick). English breakfast was amazing! Accommodation was super-clean, room was good size (5), bed really comfortable. Location is very central to town making it easy to access shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay in Ambleside.
There is a little road noise in the mornings (I'm a light sleeper) but this didn't affect us as we are early risers and didn't visit the Lake District to have a lie in!

Louise, Sean, and dog Tess were so welcoming and thoughtful that we instantly felt at home. The location is great: across from a pretty park and easy walking distance to restaurants and shops. Our king room was nicely decorated and had an amazingly comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented in their lovely breakfast room. They have a small, stacked parking area, but it was super easy and Louise stood ready to help coordinate comings and goings should that have been necessary. Would recommend Lacet House, very lovely.
Overall we were so pleased but just a few small things: the shower in our room was underwhelming (most of the bathrooms have been re-done but ours was still due) and a luggage rack would be helpful.

We had a lovely 2-night stay in the Lacet House. Both Louise and Shaun were friendly and excellent hosts. The breakfast was excellent and we really liked how we could choose different options. In addition, the extra-large double bed that we had in our en-suite twin room was huge and both nights we had a comfortable sleep. Finally, the location of this house is perfect - it is right in the town centre, and one minute away from the main bus stop which made our travel by bus to Keswick and Windermere very convenient.

I visited this weekend with my dad and we had another great stay at Lacet House. Louise & Shaun are both so friendly, happy to help and extremely knowledgable about the area. Our twin room was tidy, spacious & modern, with a nice view and an en-suite which was perfect for our 2 night stay. The breakfast is cooked to order with high quality ingredients and was super tasty to set you up for the day. The fact that there is also a private car park for guests is also an added bonus, particularly given the very central location, this is a great perk! If you are looking for somewhere centrally located in Ambleside, with comfortable rooms & lovely hosts, look no further.
Nothing to add here - this is a wonderful B&B.

Very central location, traditional beautiful building, exceptionally helpful, accommodating and friendly staff. Louise and Sean were always on hand and super hosts! Rooms had space, and comfort, were decorated lovely with good facilities for tea, WiFi, plug sockets, muddy boots and always a delight for me, towels that were big enough to cover you! Beds were very comfortable. No wardrobe but the hangers on the walls were adequate for us. Catering off pre order breakfast menu options was very accommodating. Breakfast was served between 8&9am each day which suited us and was pretty good! Louise was on hand constantly and made sure we had everything we needed and Sean cooked a mean breakfast.
Nothing major at all! Parking was a small issue but we juggled it with great management from Louise and Sean. Might be an issue if you have a big car or more than one car per room. A bit of noise from those in rooms next door and noise from those in the above rooms walking about, traffic outside too might disturb but luckily we brought ear plugs. TV was missing a few key channels, even after we re-tuned it but the WiFi was great. Lighting could be a bit better in the room, especially when looking in mirrors in dark days or on evenings to go out and getting ready and bathroom internal window could be blocked to prevent light pollution into the bedroom.
