This is a beautiful property. Initially I thought Gaia was too far from main tourist area but it turned out our €99 full day boat tour of the Douro River left from that side and bus dropped us back at end of the day. A must do tour. Easy walk across bridge to other side.

The bathroom was huge and very luxurious, came with toiletries. Bed comfortable. Spa very nice although you need to pay! Watch out for that when booking. Arrived to a bottle of prosecco and a cake in my room for my birthday which was a lovely.

I called ahead before booking through booking.com to ensure usage of the spa would be included in my booking and was told yes. When I arrived, I was then told NO its not. Not very good customer service I should have been advised properly on the phone that if you book directly with the hotel you will receive breakfast and spa access as that would have been a no brainer but as I was told i would have the access i went ahead on booking.com Lesson here - book through hotel and get the best deal available from them. And ensure whatever they agree too they email you that agreement! I was very disappointed.

Location was brilliant with a few minutes walk to the river which was the main attraction in Porto. Hotel was in Gaia - which is where most of the main Port brands are- loads of tours. Hotel was modern and room was excellent- very comfortable and well attended, Staff were very helpful and friendly with maps and directions. As it was an anniversary trip- they provided a lovely cake and drink as a surprise on our arrival. Had a great bar that overlooked the river and reasonable costs. Dozens of restaurants within walking distance and options galore. You could also walk across the main bridge and eat on the other side of the river too. Loads of experiences and great atmosphere in and around the hotel area and the main town. We used the Hop On-Hop Off Bus which had a stop just around the corner from our hotel.

Loads of hills which we knew about- but i twisted my ankle the week before the trip. Challenging getting around for a day or two but many sites were close together

Great location, in walking distance to everything. Beds and pillows were SO comfy and facilities at hotel were fantastic - great gym, delicious breakfast, lovely spa and pool

Premium hotel - great decor, nice size rooms with all that you need. Professional staff on reception and spa team. Good location to explore Gaia / south of the river and the port houses. Fully kitted out gym - cardio and strength. Lots of kit, free weights and all clean & tidy.

Housekeeping could be later in the day than ideally would have liked. Prices for food on 3rd floor bar - avoid, terrible value for money. The hotel does host big conferences which can mean the gym / spa / public spaces are quiet (.. as the attendees are all in the conference suite) - generally a positive for tourists.

The locat.ion is quiet and at the same time it is very central to the tourist area. Breakfast was very good . My wife had a smalll complaint as the gluten free bread provided was the same throughout the whole week stay. The pool is top notch

Room service needs to be taken care of. Three days I had to ask for replcement water. Face cloths were not replaced twice. After three phone calls I managed to get the missing bathrobe. We asked for a non slip shower mat, it arrived on the third day. Restaurant dinner was very poor value for money.

Very high quality hotel, great location to access Gaia, port houses and south of the river. Staff were very helpful, room service was occasionally later in day when we returned… room was very good size, all that you needed - housekeeping brought us extra hangers on day 1 very promptly, slower to get sufficient creamer for teas & coffees - minor issue. Lovely newly opened bar on 3rd floor - beautiful view, prices for drinks were reasonable - food was very over-priced. Don’t eat here - go to ground floor restaurant or go out. Gym was great size, all the cardio & strength kit you could need - in full working order & clean!! So much better than majority of hotels in Europe. Spa was a very special bonus too!! Will def stay again, felt special (few tourists, often hotel has large conferences).

Food at third floor bar - choice of food and prices need to be reduced significantly!!! Housekeeping could be hit & miss if you asked for anything not the norm.

Good choice on breakfast buffet; reception staff excellent (one receptionist deserves special mention - my son arrived at the hotel after us, to discover that he’d left his wallet in the taxi from the airport. Apart from reassuring him that everything would be ok she contacted the various taxi companies in Porto to announce the “loss”. To cut a long story short, the taxi driver was located and brought the wallet back - nothing missing, nerves soothed., and everyone greatly relieved. Excellent service - she did everything in her power to successfully solve the problem…. Well done!)

Nothing to complain about!

The Room was large, restful and quiet although the neighbors scraping their tears on the floor was an irritation. Front of house staff were excellent, Bar and waiting staff very good.

I stayed 5 nights. Cleaning of the room was somewhat perfunctory. The carpet alongside the bed appeared not to have been vacuumed, during my stay, the floor of the toilet room was not mopped, cups and glasses, sometimes were replaced other times not. I thought the food in the ground floor dining area was disappointing. I had the worst club sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. The Portuguese tarts on my first breakfast were stale. On the second try they were fresh and quite good. Plenty of alternative places to eat nearby so not a big deal.

The views of the bar are nice and the building and rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable.

We ordered a bottle to be brought to the room, and it took 30 minutes to arrive. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring a corkscrew, as it was corked, which took them an additional 15 minutes to resolve. The waiting time in the restaurant was absurd, and remarkably, we were the only people present. We ordered tartare, and the bread didn't arrive until 20 minutes after the tartare, which was quite frustrating. The staff at the reception seemed slow and unfriendly. The only staff member who provided excellent service was a young man of 22, who seemed to be working in various roles throughout the hotel, including the bar and room service.
