Very friendly and helpful staff - nothing was a bother.
Only one little thing with the lighting (funny thing about motels everywhere, the lighting seems to get overlooked!)- the light shades in the room could do with changing out - both lamp shades had strange water stains on them - not a big thing but seemed out of place in the otherwise lovely room, and the light switches for the bedside lights were very strangely configured - we could not figure out how to just have one bedside light on without both lights and the hallway light turning on at the same time - not great for getting up n the night without disturbing my partner!

I've stayed at the Movenpick before, but wanted to go back there as it's great value for money. The reception staff are so friendly and helpful. I visited the hotel earlier in the day to put some balloons in the room to surprise my partner for his birthday before we arrived later. I wasn't happy with the initial room as it didn't have a couch and seating area, so I asked if I could put some chairs and table in the room. Instead, I was offered an executive king room that was available for only a small extra cost, so I took it. The staff were also very obliging when I asked for an ice bucket and champagne flutes to be brought to the room when we arrived. The hotel parking is not cheap at $40 per night, but I love the valet service and convenience. The room was very modern and beautifully decorated. The king bed and pillows are really comfy and the bathroom is clean, fully tiled, good amount of bench space for women's toiletries and a great shower. Lovely city view of Te Aro. The staff were also kind enough to bring a mini carrot cake, chocolate and a birthday card to our room for my partner, which was a lovely surprise and unexpected. We also enjoyed the chocolate hour between 4-5pm on the lobby floor. Yummy treats to dip in a chocolate fondue. I'd definitely stay there again!
Unfortunately, our room was a little bit noisy from the sound of fans/generators or heat pumps. It may be because we were on the 9th floor close to the rooftop where the pumps are located. Not sure. I also wish the TV in the room was a smart TV to have the option of watching movies on applications like Netflix or Prime and use our own logins. I find the Sky and Freeview channels are limited and time bound.

- We stayed Friday and Saturday night. The Bald guy at reception was top notch. Super helpful and had a good conversation. - The leisure centre was awesome. I do wish it was open 24/7 but the 11pm close was pretty good.
- There were a lot of used towels spread around the leisure centre the first night we stayed. - I am a frequent sauna user, and as a suggestion to make your sauna a 10/10, I would add a water cooler in the pool area to encourage sauna users to hydrate. A clock in the area so users can look out the sauna window to track how long they have been in is also a safe guard for new users.

Complete facilities ( swimming pool, sauna, fitness room, coin-operated guest laundry, in-house restaurant and room service; friendly staff, comfy beds, robes & slippers, hair dryer and steam iron, etc.). A short walk to Cuba Street & lots of food, coffee & craft beer choices: 13-15 minutes on foot to Taranaki Street and the Wesley Methodist Church which was the venue of a lovely Candlelight Concert we caught before Christmas; and not really very far from Te Papa and the Harbour. Very walkable! Initially, we thought that the location of this hotel was rather remote but, after staying here a few days, and because of their special guest elevator where you can get off and enter the hotel at the lower street level, we found it to be quite a convenient and well-appointed location.
Not much. We arrived with no expectations, as it was our first Movenpick experience, and left most pleasantly surprised! With so much to do in Wellington, we kept missing their " Chocolate Hour"! Hope to catch it on our next visit...

Room, Sauna, Pool, lounge and happy hour were great.
One of the bar staff was rude by questioning me that I ordered my wine after happy hour and they charged me a full price. I don't know why he asked me that question while I checked the time and ordered my second wine quickly before the happy hour finished. He asked me twice and looked at me with such face expression that I was telling him wrong information so that I can get away with a happy hour price. I felt very disappointed and it kind of ruined my mood after such a good time in the bar.

Lovely place! Its fun that there's the happy hour and chocolate hour- which you gotta go down quick so you'll have more options! Twas amazing. I also chose this place because of the sauna - did NOT disappoint! Would certainly be back again one day.
Maybe don't say that the place is sound proof. I can hear my neighbour's talking and ..ya know.. lady even had the audacity to tell me to fluff off and keep it down during a phone call ... which I was not even a minute out of my call and got the karen knock already. Lol

We loved the friendly greeting from staff who were accommodating and very helpful. We were able to book in early whivh was massive gor us as we were really tired. Our room was clean and comfortable...and really nice. We loved the relaxing atmosphere and the hotel had everything we wanted and needed. The afternoon chockie hour was a hit for my son and I and we enjoyed chatting with other guests. We used the gym, sauna and pool facilities to work off the chocolate and loved the robes and bathroom by the pool to use afterwards. There was an abundance of towels which was really great. In the morning we loved the buffet breakfast which was included in the price. We have already recommended the hotel to our family and friends and are looking forward to booking again in the future. Thankhou for exceeding our expectations. Rochelle and Eli Montgomery

The hospitality was excellent! Each and every staff made me feel so special and looked after. If and when I do come back to Wellington, I would like to come and stay with Movenpick again.
I personally was disappointed with the In Room Dining menu. The choices were very limited and there was nothing fancy or special. I was surprised to not see any steaks or burgers or grilled meat/seafood options or even pasta! Even the dessert options were not impressive, sadly. With the amazing taste and selections of Movenpick ice cream, I was very surprised that I was given only 3 flavour options. I travel a lot for both work and leisure and have stayed in many hotels across the world and have been very impressed with many of the 5 star and even 4 star hotels in room dining selections. So if something could be done about this, it would be awesome!

Wonderful stay thank you. Very accommodating, they got me a shower stool as I have a health condition that means I can stand for long and have sensory sensitivities - the dark room was great!
There was a loud noise outside my room (clicking noise) all night. I had ear plugs though and there a strong perfumed smell in the lobby (I have sensory issues due to my illness). Would love to see the hotel adopt the sun flower hidden disability scheme. Also my room service staff member spilled curry and it went all over a white t shirt and it has stained unfortunately:-(

A lovely hotel, decor feels very modern and relaxing. The bed and pillows, soft and luxurious, one of the best things about the stay. Got a little pod coffee machine in our room, unexpected but was nice. All the mod cons, the central heating worked well and as it should, the bathroom was clean and shower was nice. The room itself a good size spacious with comfortable chair at the desk but minimalistic which I like. The complimentary cookies and cocoa husk tea at the door each day and chocolate hour wonderful! And the staff and valet service excellent. It was 35 per day for the valet but we really did make the most of it coming and going atleast twice a day. Pool gym and sauna lovely, great location in town would stay again!
The bathroom was a little on the small side doesnt leave a lot of room for toiletries to be stored. The door to the bathroom was glass and was off its roller when we arrived, my husband fixed that. Also, the glass roller door doesn't give much in the way of privacy. Light connection would prefer separate so I could choose what lights I want on rather than a all or nothing. Although there were separate lamps it wasn't a major issue.
