Excellent location for both walking from the railway station and also walking into the heart of the city
We were allocated a room on 6th floor where the air conditioning system was very poor. We asked at reception how to adjust air con but were told temp was fixed only fan speed could be adjusted. It was so bad that we did not sleep on first night. Next day we were moved to 5th floor and the air conditioning was excellent. On check out the receptionist felt they did us a service in moving us to another room. I felt we should not pay for the first night but she disagreed. We also noted another person had same issue on 6th floor but do not know the outcome.

Location was excellent and near the train station, hotel could store our luggage for pick up for a train later in the day (mark of a fantastic hotel in Italy!), room cleanliness was fantastic (seriously - props!), the provided soaps were lovely, bed was comfy, rooms were quiet after all the tour groups were tucked in for the night (caveat: One night a tour group came back late, and the guide was clearly giving instructions at around 11:30pm and woke us up. I'm a light sleeper.) Overall we enjoyed our stay, but wished the price was a bit more palatable, and included breakfast for such a steep price.
This did not change our stay at all, but think it's worth mentioning. - I'm not normally one to care about landscaping of a building, but after having lived in Italy for several years, I was a but surprised that for a $250+/night room that the landscaping/roofing, canopy's were in such disrepair. The pond/pool out front looks like a swamp, and from the 6th floor the canopy's below looked like they hadn't been cleaned in ages. The price seemed overly high for the value of the room and lack of breakfast being included. Again, I've traveled all over Italy at all different times of year, and a room this value in many other cities would be $125-$150/night not $250+.

convenient location of the hotel. delicious breakfast. furniture is not the freshest. wallpaper in the rooms is made of fabric, very dusty, it is hard to breathe in the room. the air conditioning system works terribly, the temperature is not regulated, the room is hot, like a sauna, I had to constantly open / close the windows.

Staff was amazing. Particularly Eleonora at the counter and Annalissa at the spa. They were so kind and helpful and made our trip extra wonderful. The spa was really great and a great value. The decor of the hotel itself was nice. The location is fantastic if you plan on using the train from Bologna centrale. Very easy to walk to the center of the city.
The shower setup in the room needs improvements. The showerhead in the room would not stay up - it would keep sliding down - and the moveable wall/blocker did not prevent water from leaking out onto the floor at any orientation, so we had to be extra mindful of the direction of the water. Bed and pillows were less comfortable than at other hotels, but fine. There was some constant construction outside so the room wasn’t as quiet as it could be, but no fault of the hotel.

Overall a really nice hotel, I would recommend it to anyone. It was definitely catered towards corporate guests, but we didn’t feel overly out of place there. Staff were friendly, and we liked both the interior of both the hotel lobby and the rooms. The location was perfect for us as we didn’t want to carry our backpacks too far from the station, and it was only a 10-15 minute walk to the centre
The air con wasn’t very powerful, so the room was very hot. The hairdryer wasn’t great to use, although I probably should have realised it would be one of those small hotel-bathroom hairdryers and brought my own! The room was perfectly clean, but dusty and worn in places.

It’s a big old hotel with a chic interior from 90s/2000s. Even though it looks like a time capsule back to 2000s, the hotel still has quite high standards. The room was comfortable, staff is friendly, very good breakfast with great variety of food. The location is also very good, it’s walkable distance to the city center, but there is also a bus station nearby where buses come every few minutes.
The room where we stayed had soft (like the upholstery of a sofa) walls, which made me feeling slightly uncomfortable sound like. You feel like you are being in the recording studio where all sounds are perfectly absorbed with absolutely zero echo. I even needed to open the window to get more natural sounds to feel comfortable.

Location was good; very close to train station. Restaurant and breakfast were available—we did not use but nice to have the option. Our room was very nice, was more like a suite with a living room area, walk in closet, bedroom and large bathroom with shower and jetted bathtub. Overall very spacious. There was a refrigerator and electric tea kettle and nespresso machine. There were also complimentary capsules, instant coffee and tea. I read other reviews indicating the air conditioner did not work well. In our room it worked very well (high was 92 F during our stay).
Overall very good. The only minor complaint is that the refrigerator had drinks and snacks but also a price list and signs posted in several languages saying the refrigerator would automatically charge for anything removed. Upon checking out the front desk staff told us the refrigerator contents were complimentary and it would have been nice to know that before checking out.

This is a lovely hotel, very nicely presented and we had a great 2-night stay. The hotel was very easy to arrive to in our rental car and the on-site secure parking was excellent. Cento is about 1 km away but the vibe of walking the famous porticos starts almost as soon as you leave the hotel, so it’s a very pleasant walk to Centro. Great daily markets (400 stalls) within 300m.
Unfortunately it was unseasonably hot during our stay and due to city regulations we were not allowed to turn our air con on. So we suffered two very uncomfortable nights with a very hot room. The hotel staff were understanding of the unpleasant circumstances and discounted the final cost of our stay as a mark of apology. I think this was a nice approach and we left in good humour. Apart from this issue the hotel is an excellent choice for a visit to Bologna and we would certainly return.

Proper, fully serviced professional hotel in a world where this is not always the case. More than adequately staffed and all the amenities you would expect. Breakfast good, plentiful and something for everyone - scrambled eggs particularly good; self-serve coffee from machine but the staff will make cappuccino, etc, if you ask. Hotel is convenient for the rail station - just a 10 min walk away - and the Marconi Express monorail to the airport (we did it in under 25 minutes, door-to-door). 10-15 min walk to the Centro Storico. I liked the well-staffed bar and comfortable public lounge. Tea and coffee in the room which was replenished every day. There was a hair dryer which did dry hair but not much good for styling as not hot enough, so if this is important to you, bring your own. All in all, I was pleased with my choice of hotel.
Unfortunately, we chose a weekend when there was a trade fair on in Bologna and the Saturday night price was extortionate but this was the case for all accommodations in town. The room cards stopped working every day (and, no, we didn't keep them anywhere near our mobile phones) meaning a trip to reception to remedy it - I know that doesn't sound like much but the hotel is large and the walk to Reception was 3 minutes so 9 in total once you've arrived at the room and had to do a return trip to Reception! Lastly, there was a shower curtain instead of a screen which is not only ugly and cheap looking, but unavoidably sticks to you in a cold, unpleasant way.

It felt like you are back in 80th-90th - classic European hotel in style of years behind! Surprisingly, despite this retro style furnitures-lights-interiors, the items are truly well-maintained and are in really excellent condition. We were impressed by this hotel style, as well as by the stuff cordiality. The dinner at the restaurant was also excellent. The hotel has guarded parking. The breakfast is with a good choice. Moreover there is a well equipped gym, which is not obvious from the photos on booking. Overall we have enjoyed a lot the atmosphere and for sure to be back to discover the rest of it.
We stayed in Carlton in the first cool days of autumn, and the heating was not on yet, hence the room was a bit too fresh but that’s understandable and didn’t bother us a lot.
