The hotel was tidy and clean,the staff were friendly and helpful, nice bar area and the choice of food was good and very good value for money,you could eat in the restaurant or the bar area,a nice place in a good location

Nothing serious, there were no pods for the nespresso coffee machine,we were told they were on order, we asked about a cooked breakfast but was told that at tthis time they only offered a continental breakfast but could inform us of places to go for one nearby, perhaps because its early in the season, but would have liked one there as we thought it was available,the building is a lovely listed place ,so no lift if anyone is disabled, the doors close at around 9.30 and the bar also closes, so anyone wanting a drink would need to use one of the local bars,you have to use a fob key to gain entry to the hotel via the fire escape entrances,so if anyone is disabled they would have to specify a room on the first floor

Good Parking facilities, very helpful and friendly staff and great location

When we arrived we had no towels in the room, we did get them when we asked for them but it was an oversight.

The visit I had from a transgender prostitute went particularly well.

I didn't like that he had a full bead and moustache.

The staff were really great, welcoming and friendly, both on arrival and departure- the staff member who.organised our breakfast on our departure day, couldn't have remote helpful,- a special thank you to him The inn is very welcoming The room was quite small but fine for us, and represented value for money Alnwick is a. nice town to to stroll round, and people are very pleasant

A bit more. information about how to.access the Plough carpark would be useful, please Both access points are pretty narrow and not signposted or marked, only some metal gates pulled open back for one entry and not even that for the other one: we shot past both on a very busy road, and ended up in the Castle car park, whose staff gave us the directions we needed.

The location was spot on. Walking distance for what we wanted. The staff were really nice and helpful.

The room we stayed in was quite big. But the bed was broken on one side. My partner had a very uncomfortable 2 nights of sleep. It dipped, the fan was very dusty, put it on, and dust flew everywhere. Not what I wanted. Definitely need more toilet roll in the room. Had to keep asking for extra. Extra tea bags and milk sugar would be ideal. The toilettes we got for free had a black stuff all over it. Didn't know what it was, so threw it away. The door never closed properly.

Pub was great and loved the decor of the whole place. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Issue with heating in our room so we were switched to a bigger room which was brilliant. Lovely location, would definitely come back again.

Just the issue with the heating but moved rooms so no complaints. Also in the first room there was a noise that sounded like someone flushing a toilet every 5 minutes during the night. Second and third night in the new room was complete silence so not sure where the noise was coming from! Will definitely stay in the “gadgie” room again if we come back. There are a few negative comments about having to use the fire escape which nearly put us off but we didn’t have any issues with this at all!

Fantastic location a short walk from Barter Books. Staff were very friendly. The room (Muckle) was lovely with lots of character, a huge, very comfy bed and a large TV. All very clean.

The window was swollen and didn't close fully which we didn't mind but others may. The soap dispensers were either broken or not filled. There was no hot water one morning due to a boiler failure which was quickly resolved. The contact details on the overnight locked door were a year out of date, resulting in us contacting the previous owner who kindly passed on the message about the boiler failure.

The welcome and help when I arrived. The food. The room and especially the mattress. The bathroom.

The fan was in the bedroom - good - but I couldn't make it work and only found the instructions as I was leaving the following morning. One or two ceiling lights needed attention. Nobody was present in the morning - nobody at all except another 2 guests who were also looking for people. But after about an hour someone did arrive and apologised very sincerely and sorted out our breakfasts, so all ended well.

The host this evening, Paddy, was helpful and courteous, friendly, but not chummy with us, his elders and perfect strangers as we arrived. It's this kind of perfectly balanced customer service that inspired me. We spoke later in the bar, as we returned from our evening meal, and I enjoyed getting to know him and we spoke of life and our experiences. The room was windowless, but perfectly satisfactory for 2 or 3 nights

The room was over 23 deg as we arrived. Rather a waste of energy. We turned it down to 19. Lighting in the bathroom suffered from 2 of 4 bulbs being defective.

There was a young man called Dominic and a young lady called Rosie working.they were amazing.They were working so hard.Doing everything.serving the bar and the food.They were tireless…they could have done with at least one member of staff at least.They were running the whole place together,Dominic also sorted out new batteries for our tv remote…above and beyond when he as so busy.Well done Dominic and Rosie.

We knew about the back door / stairs scenario but we hadn’t realised the door to the next floor wouldn’t be open the next morning.My partner’s sister was on the third floor and was living on Canadian time,,..we didn’t realise we couldn’t get to her first thing
