We had a bay facing room on the 5th floor and the view was great of Alcatraz, Treasure Island and a glimpse of the GG bridge. The hotel location was perfect to see the scene around Fisherman's Wharf, Palace of Fine Arts and shopping on Union Street.

The "included" breakfast was actually a credit for $50 at the restaurant which didn't come close to covering the breakfast for the three of us booked in the room. I wouldn't have opted for it if I knew that's what it was.

Beds were super comfortable, staff were great, super helpful and the overall ambience and vibe of the hotel is very nice. Perfect location, best place to stay in SF.

The restaurant in the hotel is overpriced. Breakfast was so expensive, price is disproportionate to portion size.

The location is excellent. Walk to Fisherman’s Wharf in one block. The hotel is bright, modern and very comfortable. The room was large, the bed amazing and the shower was also. They have a drinks hour between 5 and 6 pm. Good wines, beers, rum and warm apple cider. All served in glasses and no restrictions on how much. Plenty of seating in the lobby. We picked up some cheese and crackers in Walgreens, one block away and had a very lovely hour until dinner. The staff are old school polite. Great service. One night, we took our drinks in to dinner at Abaca and no one minded. Though pricey, the food was unique and tasty. They do hold a large deposit on a card when you check in but, it was returned immediately at check out.

After reading reviews of similar hotels in the area this one stood out for having very little negative. And I would agree nothing negative about the hotel. Great location to pier 39, Alcatraz landing and north beach all within walking distance.

Really well located in one of the safest areas. Can walk to the cable car turnarounds, Fisherman's Wharf, the Alcatraz ferry, etc. Also virtually opposite the rental car companies if you want to pick up a car to leave SF as we did. If you've stayed at other IHG / Hilton / Marriotts, then you know what you're getting. Happy hour was a nice bonus.

The onsite restaurant looked a bit overpriced, but I understand it is independent of the hotel.

I like Kimpton hotels because I have found them to have the friendliest staff, but the architecture and the facilities of this one were not as impressive as other Kimpton hotels. But the staff were great, the lobby was expansive and much used, the complimentary Happy Hour much appreciated, and the location good for seeing San Francisco.

A very poorly designed building with an ugly exterior (who was the architect!) and the lobby was located at one end of the building. As our room was at the complete other end—a whole city block— it led to extremely long walks to the elevator, consuming far too much time.

It was our second stay at a Kimpton hotel and it did not disappoint. Hotel decor looks beautiful. Modern and fresh. Location was perfect for exploring the city. Stayed with little kids and never felt unsafe walking to all major sights. Hotel staff is very friendly. They let us check-in early which was really great! Great value for the price and would definitly recommend staying at the Kimpton. O yes, and I appreciate the social hour and coffee station!

Prices in the restaurant for breakfast rather steep (+mandatory 20% even on the days that it’s counter service).

Very friendly staff , room was spacious and very clean bed was so comfortable and big . Nice comfortable pillows. Bathroom was modern . The decor of the hotel had a Morden feel to it restaurant served a great breakfast.

For me the curtains when closed let light in break lights could be seen clearly seen and headlights of cars and other bedroom window lights could be seen from with in the room . As the bedroom was on the floor level I would of liked a curtain when closed to not be seen through. And blacked out the room .

The location of the hotel is great - right at the Wharf itself. The happy hour from 5 to 7 in the evening allows you to socialise with other guests at the hotel and the atmosphere is lively and celebratory. The rooms are big and comfortable with good view.

The payment system kept on charging us for extra days of the stay which caused some worry for us. However, the staff was patient and considerate in dealing with our questions.

We thoroughly loved the Kimpton in San Francisco. The location was great, close to many attractions including Pier 39, the Embarcadero, the marina and cable cars. The staff were friendly and accommodating. There were a few unique things they offered I've not encountered in another hotel before such as "social hour" each afternoon which allowed you to hang out a little more in the hotel, and meet guests. The gym was good, the restaurant has lovely fresh food and options.
