Both Outdoor, Indoor pools and Hot Tub/Jacuzzi. Great beach front location. Awesome breakfast options every morning. Clean rooms and great customer service. Everything was wonderful!

No complaints on anything during our 6 days and 5 nights stay.

The location was amazing! We were steps to the beach, and a short drive to so many restaurants and the pier. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again!! The room was clean and lovely and had great amenities including a full kitchen!

These aren’t real complaints- The free breakfast was nice but the coffee wasn’t very good. But it was free so we can’t really complain. Also I will say the bedding was VERY thick and warm. Our room was set to 68° and was freezing in there but we still would wake up hot in the night from the bedding. Not a big deal though just a heads up to wear light pajamas!

Easy access to the beach. Walking distance to a couple shops and restaurants. Nice having indoor and outdoor pools, in case of rain. Good breakfast, decent amount of choices. Room felt cozy and clean. Staff always smiled and were friendly when we needed something.

Maybe it was different housekeepers, but the first 2 or 3 nights we had to go to front desk for towels and washcloths because they either didn’t leave any or only left 2 when we had 3 people in the room. Hardly any water pressure at the shower next to the walkway to the beach, but at least there was a small one at the pool we could use for our feet. No elevator in the one building, but it actually wasn’t so bad. A little bit of work to unload/pack it all back up but was ok.

The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. The only container we had was it was extremely hot in the lobby and breakfast area.

Overall we were pleased with everything! The only issue we had was wuth the washer and dryer, we had a blanky to wash that our toddler spilled milk, the detergent thing you buy from on the wall did not work and when we went back to get our laundry out of the washer it was soaking wet like the washer did not spin and or drain. Please keep prices affordable so we can continue to visit in the future

We've stayed many times, and this time was cleaner than years in the past.

The night shift employee was beyond disrespectful. He worked the shift Thursday night 4/24. He would NOT answer the phone when I called multiple times, so I walked down there at 11pm. bc I needed new bed sheets and blankets since something spilled. He was so disrespectful and treated me like I had inconvenienced him. He is at work, isn't that part of your job? We ended up using our extra Beach towels bc he wanted to give us a blanket that was sitting on a table in the lobby, no thank you!!!

Everything about this place is superb--the people are friendly, the amenities are nice, the ocean-view rooms are phenomenal, and the overall location is fantastic! I've chosen to stay at Shutters whenever I'm in the area for several years now, and my sister's family has too, based on my recommendation. The interior of the ocean-view rooms is modern, clean, and comfortable. The balconies offer nice seating and a table so you can sit and enjoy coffee in the morning or wine in the evenings. I can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a place to stay on the Outer Banks.

Everything was wonderful about our stay! The staff is always friendly and helpful, the entire location is very clean, and even the guests were some of the friendliest people we have met! This was our second year staying at Shutters, and we will be back! Easy, private access to the beautiful beach, and the pools were clean and a great relaxing spot! HIGHLY RECCOMMEND!

If I could change just one thing, It would be the view in the oceanfront rooms. I prefer an ocean view, not a dune view. But, when walking up the pathway to get to the ocean, you top the path, and you are greeted with the beautiful waves! Also, as a smoker, I think it would be beneficial to have more than one smokers spot, in different locations, still a decent distance away from other non smoking guests so we can still respect them. So, I'm not complaining at all...but those would be the only things I would change if I could.

Shutters on the Banks is a charming oceanfront hotel located in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. My wife Mercy and I had wonderful experiences during our recent getaway to Kitty Hawk from May 29 to June 1, 2024. Anyway, the staff are friendly and accommodating, and the hotel itself was cozy and welcoming, and their breakfast choices were numerous and delicious. The direct beach access and proximity to restaurants and attractions in the Outer Banks area added to the appeal. What can I say…my wife and I had a ton of fun flying our FIREBIRD KITE up high in the sky in the gentle, steady and smooth onshore breezes behind the hotel for a minimum of one hour a day, and was a ton of fun. In summary, my wife and I were so impressed with the hotel that we definitely plan to make it an annual family tradition to stay at Shutters on the Banks whenever we come to Kitty Hawk for our getaways. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Outer Banks region of North Carolina for a relaxing and enjoyable beach vacation.

Location location location! You’re right on the beach.

For the price being charged, I would not expect to find sand through my room. Please vacuum better or more often. Also, while they’ve made improvements in the beach path, there is still a massive drop off from the path to a very steep, soft sand dune. It’s a task to get down or up between the path and the sand. The one big bugaboo for us were the mattresses. They are cheap and do not lay flat. We lost out on sleep both nights because of these. The doors also slam shut. So you’ll hear that all hours of the day and night. We enjoyed our stay in spite of these things, but will look elsewhere going forward.

Good size balcony with andirondak chairs & table on the balcony with an ocean view. Comfortable beds! Great service from the staff, who went out of their way to help me gain access to wifi.

The weather! haha. No, really - because of the bad weather we spent a lot of time in the room. So, the only suggestion I have is to arrange seating for 2 so you can watch TV comfortably. My husband did NOT like to watch TV fully dressed and propped up in the bed. The one chair and ottoman were not at an angle to see the TV screen very well. There was no table to place your glass near the chair either. Just suggestions to make it more comfortable. Thank you.
