My ratings are always relative to the amount charged, so as this is a fairly budget motel, it rates very highly. Everything you need, and the bathroom has been updated. Kitchen has a modern 2-ring hob. Appears well kept and furnishings are good. Really friendly host who showed how to work heating, TV.

It's on the main highway so as expected you are going to get loud traffic noise, esp trucks. Older motel so not double-glazed so noise is quite loud. One thing that was odd was the bedding: top of duvet cover didn't reach up far enough so you would be having blankets next to your face, which I don't think is hygienic. As it was cool and I needed the bedding up near my face, I remade bed to pull duvet up further which helped, but a proper sheet, long enough to fold over the blanket, would have been good.

I was in Thames for a 3 day sporting event. My room was perfect for my needs. The bed was comfy. The bathroom was good and the kitchenette suited me. I would be happy to stay there again.

If I had to be really picky there is a little bit of traffic noise. It’s not horrendous, just something I noticed. It’s not 24 hours a day and it certainly did not affect my sleep. I just closed the windows and turned the heat pump on. The decor is a little tired and could do with a spruce up.

The service was excellent, we requested a very late check in and the office man was so accommodating. The Lovely man gave us our milk, showed us the room and left us to it. Spa bath worked as normal, bed was comfy, close enough to walk into town. Would stay here again.

When we went outside to the patio the cleaning ladies had forgotten to tidy up the previous guests cigarette butts and bourbon cans. Not a big for the price but I know some may prefer a better level of cleanliness.

Convenience of the location and the staff.

The bathroom sink drained really slowly. The paint work and furniture are scatched and chipped. The kitchen cupboards had water damage and are swollen up and bubbling. The beds electric blanket was too small for the bed, so the controls were under the sheets where you lie down and the electric blanket wires are just under sheets and are very uncomfortable to try and sleep on.

Bob, who welcomed us even though we only arrived late at 7:45 pm, was so lovely und welcoming! He explained and showed us arround the whole apartment - his hospitality was just amazing! He made us feel like home and was up for a few jokes! The location of the motel was perfectly close to supermarkets in Thames and super central for hikes! The apartment was really convenient!

Hoped to enjoy the great views around the area, but had horrible weather all the way down from Paihia ( the first rain for 3 months) . Nothing the motel could do about that. The owner was very helpful with all our questions and found all we needed up in town at the local Pak n Save to self cater. Road noise was not a problem overnight and everything was comfortable and clean

Our host met us promptly & showed us to our room. He provided milk. and showed us where everything was located. He turned our TV on and ensured all channels were accessible. Advised us where to leave the room key as we were leaving early the next morning.

There was nothing that we did not like. Although the motel is on a busy main road the road noise was not a problem at all. We slept very well.

The Host, Bob, was friendly and showed us to our room. he explained about the two different remotes for the TV and Sky. Bob rang his daughter whom I had worked with and she joined us for an hour having a great catch up. That is the pleasure of staying in a town where you know people.

No tea towel to dry the dishes and some of the vinyl flooring was loose in the bathroom vanity area.

We enjoyed the motel. From the greeting and explanation of everything, our host was very helpful and he obviously keeps up to date with events in the area. The Cold Chisel concert we were going to in Whitianga was delayed, and he knew this.

Nothing. The room was very nice, perfect for our stay, with everything in it, supplied. And parking right at our door.

The room was huge, not something you’d expect. Very comfortable bed. Owner was fabulous, gave us a tour of the room and even allowed us to check in an hour earlier. Would definitely stay again. Convenient location.

Rooms are a little tired & traffic noise can get a little bad overnight due to the trucks. But that wouldn’t stop us from staying here again.
