In all honesty, if I could have never left this hotel I’d have been just as happy. I don’t typically enjoy staying in hotels; they are usually just a means to see the things in the area that I want to see. However, Erskine Arms raised the bar on that. The hotel was impeccably clean from our room to the dining area to the pub to the WCs. Every bit of it was pristine. The staff, of which there were MANY, were all kind and helpful without being intrusive. The breakfast was fresh and the best we’ve had in our one month travels across the UK. As a vegetarian, we appreciated the options and the attention to using local foods. We could have gone elsewhere in town for dinner and drinks but, after popping into the many openings around town opted to go back to Erskine Arms instead and I am glad we did. We only stayed one night but we left feeling rested and refilled for the remainder of our travels. I do hope we return again. The castle and especially Plas Mawr were magical experiences we’d love to revisit.

The location was perfect, right outside the train station and only a short walk to everything in Conwy. Check-in and checkout times were really generous, the hotel was spotless, and the room was gorgeous with everything we needed (tea, coffee, hot chocolate, TV, fan, extra pillows). The bed was incredibly comfortable and breakfast was delicious – we had eggs royale with fresh juice and unlimited tea and coffee. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming.

Parking was a bit expensive and we had to top it up early in the morning, which was a little inconvenient.

Despite being in room 12, which was almost directly above the pub, we heard nothing except other guests going to bed, so it's quite well protected. The breakfast was nice. We also had dinner and that was really good too.

The parking is a bit of a pain - there are 3 spaces opposite the pub, but they were all taken when we arrived. The next nearest car parks (at Conwy Castle, and at the train station) are both short stay, and the nearest long-stay car park is a 5 minute walk further up the road (up a bit of a hill). It cost £8.50 to park for 24 hours.

Friendly welcome. Great room, spacious clean and comfortable with lovely views towards the town walls and beyond to the valley. Restaurant had a good menu and we enjoyed dinner with friends on one of our evenings at the Erskine. Breakfast was good although not exceptional

One morning I think the regular chef must have been off and breakfast was poor. Fruit was well past its best and served in water, yuk. Attention to detail was lacking eg no butter on the muffins. Fortunately our other two mornings everything was absolutely fine. No problems at all and very efficient, courteous staff

Beautiful hotel and room. Perfect location in wonderful town. Staff generally helpful though when we needed to leave and catch a train, the woman at the desk was slow to inform us of the inadequacy of the taxi service (because the schools were using them).

Would have liked more vegetarian options to be available. They ran out of soy milk, which I like in my cappuccino. When leaving, the woman at the desk could have offered more information about the (lack of) taxi service and how to use the train since we were unable to buy tickets online.

I have stayed at the nearby sister property 'Y Capel' on a number of occasions but this was my first time at the Erskine and it was equally pleasant. A very high standard of room, which was spacious with a nice view over the castle (due to being on the top floor!). Friendly staff and a good selection of toiletries and tea/coffee. Very comfortable bed.

I had to watch my head in the low ceilinged bathroom, but you expect that kind of thing with a characterful old building and not much they could do about it. The pillows were not of the standard I would expect compared to the rest of the room. The full breakfast was very good but the selection of cereals/fruit was a bit meagre and the black pudding far too sweet for my taste.

This property was exceptional. The warm welcome and helpfulness of the staff. The room was gorgeous and the decor througout is wonderful. We had dinner and that was delicious and presented beautifully. Wine was lovely and reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious too. All credit to the manageress for the exemplary professional attitude of all the staff. The location is superb. Parking close by. It was a fabulous experience and we didn't want to leave. We are definitely coming back. Would highly recommend.

It was perfect.

I liked everything! It might seem unrealistic to some only I couldn't fault anything about our time at The Erskine Arms. Ben, the General Manager, listened to my concerns regarding my husband's current mobility issues and having to step into the bath to use the shower. Ben came up with a reasonable solution, the provision of a small portable step, which worked well. Housekeeping happily supplied extra towels to mop up water which had sprayed from the shower, again due to how hubby was using the shower. Our room was large, clean and tidy with ample storage. The bed was extremely comfortable. Sundries such as tea, coffee, bottled water, biscuits etc were topped up daily. There were plenty of options to choose for breakfast each morning, the food we had then at at dinner time was delicious. The staff were courteous and friendly leaving us feeling welcome.

Genuinely felt emotional when the time came for us to leave, that's what I didn't like.

Comfortable and clean room. Staff are friendly and it's a nice pub - good quality, tasty and varied menu. Lovely breakfast options.

Parking is a little bit of a nuisance. There are only three guest spaces which I think are occasionally used by staff. There are pay for parking options nearby, but just a slight worry when leaving car overnight in a public car park. The pub is well placed in town so it's just one thing to weigh up.

The hotel was right next to the train station which was very convenient, but it wasn’t noisy at all. We had a room at the back. It was spacious and comfy, the bed was firm and the duvet not too hot. We had a bath in the bathroom which was excellent after a day’s walking, also a heated towel rail which was handy for washing some walking kit. It was a really comfortable stay.

The bar and food area is great, beautifully decorated and convivial. The food is a little basic though. But mainly good, don’t let that put you off!
