Great location, plentiful parking. Nice bar, restaurant and outside seating / dining areas. Menu options plentiful and food good for breakfast and dinner. Good live music in bar on Saturday night.

One member of reception class was clueless about non-feather (hypo-allergenic bedding) saying that he didn't think that the hotel had any: when we got to our room all bedding turned out to be hypo-allergenic. Another member of staff was extremely rude, abrupt and unhelpful to 2 of our party. Waits at dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday were excessively long - it was clear that the one member of staff serving was overwhelmed. The impression was of understaffing in kitchen and amongst waiting staff in the dining areas. Despite being overstretched the waiting staff remained friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was good though service was a bit erratic. Initially we were served by young staff who lacked initiative but when we had a mature and experienced staff member we got very good service. We had a similar experience at dinner. Junior staff were pleasant but would have benefitted form more training in serving and good customer care. They seemed to lack direction at times though I would commmend them for their pleasant manner and willingness to help

Yes it’s tired. As others have commented, but who cares. It’s warm and comfortable, lashings of hot water. Clean sheets and comfy beds. Lovely food, dinner and breakfast. I had the lamb shank and the brie starter. Delicious! and they have a tiny pudding section. When you only have room for a little something. Glorious staff, all extremely pleasant and polite. Extremely efficient breakfast waitress. I had two turns at the buffet. Fresh cooked food and yummy baked goods. I had a lovely stay. Thank you!

everything the pub restaurant and hotel rooms very nice we got a superior double room with a very old 4 poster bed on a one night stay WoW we felt like royalty. the stay was part of a half way stop home on route from a devon holiday part of our 50th golden wedding anniversary celebration we were not disappointed. did not have breakfast as we were stopping again on way home. but we had lunch and dinner the day before very nice and a good price. lovely quiet village nothing els in village in birdlip but hotel set in a parkland setting lovely and quiet. and the staff are very pleasent to talk too.

we liked the room and 4 poster bed but the room is overlooking a main road through the village on route to the M5 seems the traffic is still buisy at night so it is a bit noisy but never the less we would stay again.

The receptionist was very helpful in answering all of my questions about hiking nearby and the best way to return. I was even able to check in a little earlier than expected. Love that the entrance to the cotswalds way is just down the street. The receptionist gave me a shortcut to avoid having to walk the busy road. Room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. Love that there was both indoor and outdoor dining and walking trails on the property.

No shade to the hotel but if you go walking on their grounds (they have beautiful pathways through the woods, don't use the path closest to the gazebo. I learned what stinging nettles are! There's another path adjacent to it that's clear. It's a great area to let the kiddos run wild and explore the woods.

Friendly staff especially the young lady who covered reception and was always bright and cheerful, she was also the host at breakfast. Location was lovely in a very quiet village, plenty of parking available. Food was good we ate in the bar 2 nights and had a lovely experience, not overpriced and drinks also reasonably priced. Breakfast was great lots of choice and even though they were extremely busy everything was beautifully cooked and presented.

Bathroom needs attention as very dated and could have been cleaner, plug holes etc.

Nice location, pretty village with walks and convenient for Gloucester and Cheltenham l. Spacious room and bathroom with a bath not just a shower. Very clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking. Very good breakfast - cold buffet with good choice and hot food made to order.

Room could be improved with sockets by the bed and an adjustable shower (not just a fixed position overhead). Water just hot enough. Most annoying thing was having to reconnect to the wifi multiple times a day. We enjoyed breakfast but had dinner one night and I wouldn't recommend (steak good, scampi ok but chips poor quality and vegetables very overcooked)

We loved this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful - special mention of Holly’s service at dinner and Elaine on reception. Some reviews mentioned that the hotel was in need of refurbishment but we found it warm and inviting, with the aged elements adding charm. Position was perfect for a lovely walk on the Cotswold Way path at the back of the carpark. We also loved our little patio siting area with the French doors. We had half board and both the dinner and breakfast were excellent. A most enjoyable stay.

The information from my initial booking, the Professional reception from Elaine & Carol were warm & welcoming. They both offered us local information where to visit & always asked us how our day was. Nigel the Manager and Jo were very personable & inclusive. We met many of the staff and so we don't forget anyone we want to say they were all really lovely and engaging. We had breakfast 4 mornings & meals each night, all were very nice. We would highly recommend The Royal George, Green King Inns a place to stay

Great place to stay 10/10

Good location for the area we wanted, room was clean and tidy, good size! Had everything we needed in there, even complimentary biscuits! Evening menu was usual pub grub with generous portion sizes, breakfast was beautiful and nice to see fresh strawberries and watermelon. All food was served quickly and hot. Good size hotel with lovely garden area. We have previously read staff were rude, they were not rude, just very busy but could come across as direct, all were friendly to us though. Would we stay again? Absolutely!! Good size carpark too! Last note… birdlip view point just round the corner is definitely worth a look!

If anything, it probably needs a bit of modernisation but there was nothing that took anything away from our stay!
