The minute I set foot in this hotel, I loved it so much that I booked another night. It’s luxurious in every way, yet somehow still homely and intimate. Every member of staff was not only kind and thoughtful in helping me with my bags and storage, accommodating last-minute requests, etc—but went above and beyond to ensure guest happiness. Everyone was incredible and deserves high praise, although I must give special thanks to the head of guest experience (Francine?). Best service I have ever seen, even relative to other 5-star properties. The food was superb…I particularly enjoyed the peri peri chicken, malva pudding, and watermelon chilli mocktail. I also loved this lavender/white chocolate drink they made with nondairy milk…ugh I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! I should also note how conveniently located it is—literally right by Rosebank Gautrain, with nearby shops, restaurants, etc. Thank you for a fabulous stay! This is the only place I wish to return when next in Johannesburg, and I passionately recommend this hotel to all.

Staff went out of their way to accommodate our requests and preferences. I left something behind and checked out but they made special arrangements to get it to me at no charge!

Absolutely fantastic boutique hotel in the safe and conveniently located Rosebank area. Spotlessly clean, really lovely and attentive staff, tasteful and beautiful interiors, excellent food, quiet and spacious room, comfortable beds with high quality linen, La Occitane bathroom products, good WiFi connection, a green courtyard with trees - we couldn't have been more happy with our stay. The cherry on top was that they were able to cater for celiac disease and prepare safe gluten free meals for me. The manager Shahid and all of the staff were so kind and helpful in ensuring I could eat safe and delicious food despite my dietary requirements. excellent location ,with the gautrain 100m away . the rosebank mall connects to the hotel making this an ideal location. breakfast was better than any 5 star hotel that ive stayed in.the staff are friendly .Jameela welcomed us with her warm smile. Ozzy the chef came out to make sure our dinner was fine.

When you step in the Monarch Hotel, you enter the world of well understood luxury. The hotel is perfectly located just next to the Rosebank Gautrain station (if you leave the station using the Southern Exit, the hotel appears right in front of your eyes). This tasetfully decorated building contains also an indoor patio/garden restaurant that will welcome and give you some rest from the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. But most of all, what deserves more than a mention is the wonderful staff! They are friendly, welcoming, discreet, helpful and extremely respectful! They are simply a pleasure to be around. It is a safe haven that you are happy to come back to after the whole day full of activities. I was really happy with my choice.

The property surprized us, since it is hiding a bit behind the bus terminal. Very well kept outside with the garden in front. The decor inside with the colour and wall paper were very striking. The original paintings by South African masters were nice to see and enjoy. That alone showed the class of this place. The rooms had ample space and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very luxurious. Breakfast was delicious and well presented.

The staff were welcoming and the manager was friendly. Room was fabulous, one of the best we've ever stayed in. The antique decor and South African art blend really well. Love the warm parquet flooring and the quiet, tree covered terrace. Bongani and Zahra were incredibly helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Overall great value for money.

The only thing that is slightly inconvenient is the snug parking but a golf cart is ready to assist.

We were warmly welcomed by Suhail and Zahra. The rest of the staff (Aya, Bongani, Clara) also went out of their way to make sure we felt at home. The hotel can not be faulted when it comes to cleanliness, location, and comfort. The rooms have everything you need, and being a fully halaal hotel, it has the little extra touches that make it feel like a home away from home.

The hotel is a beautiful space in terms of decor, art and design. The staff were friendly and helpful. It felt almost as if we were staying in a home, rather than a hotel. The breakfast (which was complimentary) was excellent and the food in general very good. Having not travelled to Johannesburg very often, I appreciated the shuttle service from and to the airport.

The hotel exceeded my expectations. I do not have any negative feedback.

Generally a very good boutique hotel. Friendly and efficient service, comfortable rooms and public spaces, nice traditional decor, decent food, convenient location

The hotel does not serve alcohol, and should have mentioned that prominently in its listing. The parking area is small and very hard to access unless in a small car.
