The location felt like home away from home. The outside and inside of the place were in perfectly clean condition. Parking was extremely exceptional as there was no added fee to have your vehicle there. Beds were comfortable, fridge and microwave in working order as well as the heating/cooling unit, and quietly peaceful to relax when needing to rest from events or eating out. As with most, if not all, hotels, they are not soundproof. That necessarily isn't a bad thing. The owner does have quiet hours in place to make sure everyone rests peacefully. So that makes the stay much more relaxed.

There is nothing negative about the place. The stay was worth it for the trip I had planned and will definitely return if things change in my staying plans if my original plans don't go my way.

This place is in an excellent location if you're going to the San Jose Convention Center. It was a short walk to get to the convention center in the morning and I passed by several great coffee shops en route. I was there alone on a business trip and felt safe as a single woman walking in the area in the morning. At night, I either walked back with a group of folks who were either staying there or close by, or took a Lyft back if I was further away, so I never walked the area alone at night. There were some lots with construction happening, so I would have felt a little uncomfortable walking by them alone at night but they could be avoided by navigating on the side streets. It was also a lot cheaper than the other hotels in the area, so if you're on a budget, this is worth it.

The hotel is an updated motel. All of the room doors open to the outside courtyard, which is open to the public so there is no real security. You can simply walk into the parking lot and then through the open archways into the courtyard. I stayed on the second floor and didn't find the lock to be very sturdy, so I did lean into my anxiety a little and push a chair up against the door. I would NOT have felt safe staying on the first floor as a single woman. A locking gate on the entrance to the courtyard would go a long way in making it feel much safer. I scored the Facilities a bit lower due to the courtyard situation.

Review for Convention Center and Suites, San Jose, CA (475 Second Street) When I woke up and saw the gentleman who had helped me log in the night before sweeping the front of the building, I knew I was staying somewhere truly special. This wasn't just a job for him—it was clear he took immense pride in the building and the experience it offers guests. The attention to detail extended far beyond the immaculate exterior. The room was nothing short of perfection—spotlessly clean, thoughtfully arranged, and filled with all the comforts needed for a relaxing stay. It felt like every detail had been carefully considered to ensure guests felt welcome and at home. From the professionalism and care of the staff to the pristine condition of the property, this place deserves every bit of a 5-star rating. If you're looking for a place that combines impeccable service, cleanliness, and a genuine sense of hospitality, Convention Center and Suites on Second Street is the place to be! Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

There were many places to have dinner and/or breakfast within walking distance. The front desk was very friendly and attentive and provided great recommendations for where to eat. The room was clean and comfortable with a desk, fridge and microwave. The property was quiet and peaceful.

The only thing i would have preferred was different were the pillows on the bed. I struggled to get comfortable for sleeping with those. they're just really small, square like pillows, maybe a bit wider would be better.

I was in town for the week working at the convention center. So much better than just a tiny hotel room! It’s a quick 6-7 minute walk to the convention center, and I was able to come back to a clean, comfortable, roomy place and always greeted by the friendliest and hardest working staff ever. The mini-fridge is much larger than the average hotel fridge so if you’re there for an extended stay you can stock up on what you need. I loved my stay and really appreciate everything about this property.

I can’t think of anything I would change

The host who greeted us and remained very available throughout our stay was very friendly and informative. The room was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. We chose to stay here because of the proximity to a small music venue nearby at which we attended a concert. Also, the hotel is located within easy walking distance to a number of nice restaurants.

The hotel is on a flight path into the San Jose airport. The noise was noticeable, but not highly unpleasant.

The receptionist Nick is a cool guy when me and my friend stayed here. The hotel place is accommodating as stuff like temporary short parking before the day of our check in was pretty sick. Really quiet location, but it is like a 5 min walking distance from the San Jose Convention Center. Location I cannot stress enough is what makes this hotel shine including the small hotel complex feel.

The hotel room itself is pretty bare bones and was pretty obvious that it was on a budget. I personally am a simple person and only need bare essentials, so outside of maybe missing extra sheets lying around (which was accommodated upon request), it is a good baseline experience. Some additional things I noted: - The parking lot is pretty cramped, so maybe call in early to secure a spot - No guests are allowed; 20$ fee per person per night if they stay - This is a small hotel. So as long as you are respectful and reasonable it is a good place to stay

Nick the manager/owner was EXCEPTIONAL. He was friendly, helpful, efficient, attentive and just a great host. The room was perfect and very clean. Loved the onsite parking and ease of getting around since it's in a great location. Its right in the center of things but isn't loud or busy so very restful. Theres a great coffee shop - Academic - almost next door which had delicious pastries and good coffees.

can't think of a single bad thing!

All the great reviews about this place are absolutely true. I was so impressed with the cleanliness, quality and comfort of my room. And the owner(?) at the desk is truly the delight that everyone raved about. So kind, friendly and informative. I felt well cared for. And happily the 2 friends I recommended stay here as well were also very pleased and impressed. Highlights were the comfort of the bed-so important and I slept great!- the very close proximity to the convention center and the surrounding urban area with so many choices for food and entertainment. And of course the man in charge-priceless! I can't say enough good things about this place and I highly and enthusiastically recommend it.

Not a single complaint.

The staff are friendly. The manager was up late awaiting our arrival and had plenty of jokes for two weary people who had been on the road for over 7 hours. Location is two blocks from the convention center and a short walk from good breakfast and lunch options, several cafes in the area serve some exceptional dishes. Parking was free which is rare in that area!!

No elevator, no guest policy.
