I have Multiple Sclerosis. When we first arrived as I had come straight from work, my mobility was severely hampered by fatigue, and Ada helped me down the stairs to our room. Rich upgraded our room for free to an Executive Room with more space because it was our Wedding Anniversary and because I was struggling a little bit with the stairs up from our previous room, which was smaller. Every room was decorated beautifully, and I did not make a complaint, but Rich moved us after our first night to the Executive Room, I think maybe because of seeing my struggle with mobility, and also to give us a treat for a special occasion. Rich and Ada worked very hard, and you could notice the high level of creativity and attention to detail in decoration and cleanliness across the whole house, not just the bedrooms. St John's is very peaceful and quiet, perfect to encourage a sense of being away from the norm, when on holiday. Whilst St John's Lodge doesn't cater for people with disabilities specifically, Rich and Ada did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible, including allowing me a secure space to keep my mobility scooter outside. (We had rain covers so it was no problem.) We will definitely book again, keep up the good work, especially the delicious breakfasts! A great location to see the Lake District.

Thank you so much for having us at St John's Lodge. It felt like a fairy tale, as it is a perfect location to explore Windermere and Bowness. Thank you so much for the delightful breakfasts. It was well much appreciated. The rooms are very clean, beautifully decorated and full of useful facilities such as a fridge( with a bottle of milk), a hairdryer, a tea/coffee station. The free entry to the sport and spa centre, which was well used. We did some lovely walks around the lake and some of us tried kayaking for the first time. We enjoyed our stay and we will keep great memories about our holiday. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Thank you, Rich, Ada and the team.

We had an amazing stay at St Johns Lodge. Great value for money! Rooms very comfortable with loads of lovely details tea/coffee/hot choc/toiletries/hairdryer etc. Towels changed for us during our stay and the bed made/tea and coffee replaced. Breakfast was truly incredible - so so much choice (3 pages) - both hot and cold options. Walkable to town/restaurants/bars etc. in Windermere. Lots of free parking available (3 spaces outside, 3-4 across the road and more street parking round the corner) Rich was lovely and welcoming, recommended loads of activities for us. Free/unlimited access to spa/leisure centre off site via access code - very good facilities for a leisure centre. Big jacuzzi/steam room/sauna and medium sized pool. Very quiet in the day, slightly busier in the evenings we found.

Rich kindly offers free padlocks to borrow for the leisure centre (remember to take this as its 2.50 to rent from the leisure centre otherwise)

The breakfasts were excellent with the widest choice of food I have ever experienced. They were well worth the Award they had received. There was an abundance of fresh fruit which was very much appreciated in the cold month of January. The staff and host were very friendly, obliging and the service was prompt. The Guest House including the bedrooms were spotless. The communal for guests on the ground floor was an added extra which was also appreciated. The location was ideal for walking and travelling by car to see everything the Lake District has to offer.The location of the Guest House itself was very central with easy access to Windermere and Bowness.

The size of the bedrooms, although well-appointed, was a little disappointing particularly when our room and that of our family were described as "superior". "

It was super clean the most relaxing place ever great atmosphere and fantastic facilities the hosts were so welcoming and the breakfast was delicious also ideally situated we would definitely stay again.

We got a very friendly welcome and throughout the stay all the staff were friendly , efficient and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The whole place was spotless and although our room was described as small double it was still a good size.

The only issue we had was some light pollution from both the fridge and the bright digital clock, which made the room quite bright when trying to sleep at night.

The location was very handy being right between Windermere village and Bowness.We both had the full English breakfast on the first morning which was delicious and different breakfasts on the second morning which were just as good and there was plenty of it! A big well done to whoever was responsible for the room decor-that purple chesterfield is the sofa of my dreams!! The bed was enormous and very comfortable,best nights sleep I’ve had in ages-even the gang of noisy lads in the hot tub outside didn’t keep us awake!

It would have been nice if there’d been a bath as we don’t have one at home but not a major issue.

Ideal location, midway between local shops bars and restaurants 10-minute walk, and 12 - 15 minute walk down to the Lakeside. Rich and the team are very welcoming and eager to please , nothing seems to be too much trouble..Attention to detail is exceptional. The room is spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The mini fridge was really useful, and fresh milk was an added bonus. Breakfast was excellent. There was plenty of choice and cooked to perfection.

10-15 minutes walk to Windermere and Bowness-on Windermere. Plenty of bars and restaurants at walking distance. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Great WiFi. Fridge in your room. Leisure club available but off site. Towels and locks are provided by the lodge owner. Breakfast was an absolute feast.

Sauna, gym off site- you need to pay for parking, either with cash or using and (yet another) parking app. No under 16s allowed in the gym or sauna.

Pros: Property is quite nice. We had a large room. Rich is an amazing host. Excellent breakfast options. Amazing central location and small back garden. Access to health club is a nice touch. Beautiful location and amazing views and hikes Close by. Rich ad. Ada are amazing hosts and guides to rhe region. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Recommended for sure. Good cancellation policy. Cons: Health club is a nice touch but it's a 10 Min drive so you maynot end up using it much. Happened to me but I enjoyed my hikes instead. Pricing is a bit higher than similar opns, but given it's rating, breakfast and health club access kind of justified if you use the health club facilities.
