breakfast, cleaniness, staff,

room was cold and no indication how to heat up. I rang reception and was kindly offered that a staff member would come up to check and/or a plug in heater be provided. As it was 10pm and i was going to bed I politely declined both as it wasnt that bad. I slept well under the duvet, so overall it was fine. Just a simpler heating system would have been preferable. No issue with the staff who again were very kind to assist if I wanted them to come to the room

Staff couldn’t do enough for you, very friendly welcoming atmosphere. We have stayed in a lot of hotels which have been family friendly but I have to say the Johnstown was one of the best we’ve been to in terms how staff always talked to the children if it was walking down the corridor, being at the restaurant or sitting down at breakfast. Food was beautiful and great portion sizes. When we checked in we where also given a triple size room To Accommodate the two travel cots we needed. We will definitely be back. Leisure facilities also lovely bonus for the kids. There is also plenty of grounds to walk around if you want to get out for some air. Park also for children it’s pretty basic but did the job.

Nothing.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, cocktail bar was great, food in the bar was nice. Rooms were lovely but extremely warm, had the windows open all day/night, had seen numerous reviews about this issue. Breakfast was great selection but wasn’t very warm which was disappointing. Overall was a lovely stay and would return!

I only stayed for a night and didn't check out the surroundings. Bed comfortable and shower was adequate. The highlight of the stay was the spa experience. Probably the best thermal suites in Ireland. However you have to book a spa treatment to access it. The pool downstairs was good but crowded at 7 AM. Was probably peak hour with the gym users. The staff were all fine and I got an early check in at 1.30pm instead of 4 pm. I also have to mention the seafood chowder at the bar restaurant... One of the best I've had - creamy and tasty. The food at the salt and fire restaurant is also good. Overall recommended!

I stayed in a deluxe ground floor room close to the spa. Room 134. You could hear some traffic noise from the road but it wasn't too bad. An occasional odd dripping noise from the wall adjacent the head end of the bed was annoying and likely comes from a plumbing issue. However everything else was fine.

The dining experience was fantastic. Staff helpful and attentive. Food great, drink great. Best pillow I have ever had in a hotel. Please send samples to other hotels. Toiletries lovely, again send samples to other hotels. Grooming kit, lovely touch, hardly ever see them these days!

Had to have a twin room as my son was sharing. Twin beds very narrow. No coffee machine in room. Sons mother had one in her room.

We live close by and was a treat for myself and my 3 year old daughter. Our room was lovely and comfortable, the pool was a hit with my daughter and the forest around the property was lovely to walk around also. Our dinner was delicious, i had the patè to start and chicken alfredo which was very nice, and they have an activity kids menu and give colors too which is a nice touch. The breakfast was nice, im not a big breakfast person so felt it was wasted on me but my daughter loved the mini pastries, the staff were wonderful very engaging with my daughter and so friendly! Would definitely reccomend

I enjoyed my stay thoroughly, maybe some sort of evening activity for children would be useful, after the pool and the walk (walk was short due to rain) there wasn't much else for her to do, everything else was wonderful though

It’s so cosy! You feel instantly at ease the minute you walk in the door. The bedrooms are so cosy, and had everything we needed.

Most of the staff in the bar were very friendly, but there was one member of staff that was rude and dismissive, and made me and my boyfriend feel very uncomfortable.

very nice hotel and good rate

there were issues with credit card payment whereby my standard card was rejected depsite being used 10s of times per year, and kept getting notification of risk of cancellation, even after having called and received written confirmation that all was fine. In those very days there were some IT works, perhaps that is the reason

The food in fire and salt was spectacular. Areas of the hotel renovated where lovely, with blue and grey scheme, but our bedroom had a completely different colour scheme to the bathroom, so the bathroom looked dated.

The sauna and steam room are not hot enough, otherwise the spa is beautiful. A cold plunge pool or ice bath would be a great addition. 2 different staff where difficult to understand, and didn’t seem that interested / articulate with their delivery. But probably require some more training. Girl in restaurant served us and she was brilliant, very engaging and attentive.

I liked the accommodation. Room was not overheated as some rooms are in winter. Plenty of lounging space throughout the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Clean. nice decor,, brilliant atmosphere in the Brasserie when the match was on. Was celebrating a special event and we were provided with a very comfortable eating space.

Not overenthusiastic about high chairs in dining area. Slightly on the pricy side. Had a family member staying in a single room which was expensive.
