The rooftop and the cheeky housekeeper Carmen.

One of the receptionists with the big red forehead would single me out and get off on ordering me off the rooftop because some of her bar customers want to be there. So I wasn’t allowed to eat or drink up there unless her bar customers were leaving. She was an inferior racist. She also lurked around in my room waiting to get a photo of me getting out of bed with a heavy period. I was also harassed by two other male racist residents and death threatened and then gaslighted by the manager Brian Cunha and he implied that it was unlikely that it was my fault.

The wifi is free and very consistent. The beds are large (king singles) and comfy. The linen is washed on site daily. Carmen the cleaner is very nice and works five days a week Mon to Friday, so the rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily, the kitchen is cleaned twice per day. There are washing machines and dryers on site which is convenient. If you don't have much money, you can relax on the rooftop and talk with other guests, if you can afford to go out, there are lots of restaurants bars and cafes close by. There is a bus to Bondi or Coggee beach opposite the hostel. The rooms all have air conditioning (which cools in the Summer and warms in the Winter). some have tvs. On the rooftop there is also a common room for rainy days and the kitchen, which is full of cooking utensils, with 3 stove tops and a microwave. Opposite the hostel is a park, and a shopping centre. The free BBQ on Fridays us a nice way to meet people.

The only negative is the loud music on Friday and Saturday nights, many people go out, but if you need to sleep, the hostel provides earplugs.

The mattresses are comfortable and large king singles. If you stay longer than a week, sheets are changed weekly. Each bed comes with a locker for your belongings (BYO lock). There are washing machines and dryers on site, which is convenient. The smaller rooms come with small bathrooms, the larger rooms have common bathrooms. The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily by Carmen. If you have any trouble booking in, she can help between 9 to 5 Monday to Friday. The bar staff downstairs assist with bookings Wednesday to Saturday. The hotel has a lovely rooftop area, which includes a bar, which is sometimes open to public. The kitchen has 3 stove tops and a microwave. The hostel is opposite a shopping centre which has KMart, Target, H&M and 3 grocery stores (Coles, Aldi and Harris farm). There are shops, bottleshops and food outlets abound. McDonalds is an 8 minute walk away and central station is a 15 minute walk. Sydney CBD is 30 minute walk so it is a great location, with buses at your doorstep. The free BBQ on Fridays is a great way to meet people.

The music is loud on Friday and Saturday nights, but many people go out on those nights or work, so don't notice it.

Javi is flexible worker, and she has good smile and friendly attitude to backpackers :) I want to praise her 'flexiblity' When I stayed many hostels in the past in many countries, experiencing flexible workers is rare thing. I studied service management, and having flexiblity means professional worker in hospitality job. (If they don't have flexible and unfriendly attitude to customers, why do they work in hospitality job ? ) She is appropriate person at hospitality department Do you want to know the reason ? then come and experience this quite hostel

Originally staying for a night, I decided to extend my stay for a whole week and it’s been the best decision ever! I’ve loved the energy here, especially with the events like trivia nights and live concerts organized in the bar at the ground level. The terrace is huge and amazing to chill at. The staff is always welcoming and extremely helpful (shout out for Carmen!). If you’re looking for a place with personality and atmosphere, this is definitely the spot! It's almost like having a new home down under. :)

I think the vibe is great. People look nice and the staff is really committed and helpful. Honestly, feels like a little family after only one night. Unlike other places when you’re only a visitor, here you feel more like home. You can tell that people take care of this hostel. The rooftop is great and the lounge really comfortable. The cleaning lady needs an award. She keeps the place clean. The staff do a lot to make you feel good and help you if you need.

Looks a bit empty during the day from outside. But the charm happens inside the hostel.

I stayed in a 4 bed dorm with a shared bathroom. It was very clean, and air conditioned, which is a bonus for both winter and summer stays. The rooms and bathroom are cleaned daily. The kitchen is cleaned twice per day. Carmen the cleaner is very friendly and supportive. Esteffania cleans the kitchen and rooftop every night. The bar does really nice Tacos and Mexican, at a cheap $15 for 3 tacos with a drink. Free BBQ on Fridays is a nice way to meet people. The hostel is opposite a shopping centre with 3 grocery stores, Target, KMart and H&M. If you have a low budget, it is nice to stay and cook your own meals a 30 minute walk from the CBD (Central Business District). If you have more money, there are cinemas, bars and restaurants around. Close to Sydney Uni, UTS and Notre Dame Unis.

The only bad thing is music can be loud on Friday night and Saturday night. You won't even notice it if you go out. If you have to sleep for work on Saturday and Sunday, there are free earplugs provided.

The location is great, easy to walk to the city, 15 minutes from the train. A shopping centre is 2 minutes walk away with Aldi, Coles and Harris Farm. Lots of shops, cafes and food outlets. H & M, KMart, and Target, with fashion shops, Jewlery and homeware stores. Banks across the road and liquor stores. Easy to get to the city with buses or a 30 minute walk. Train stations 15 minutes walk away. The rooftop is amazing.

The only negative is the music is loud on Friday and Saturday nights, which is only an issue if you work on weekends.

I had a really good time at the Lansdowne Hotel!! All the staff is very nice and helpful, the place has great amenities like free pancakes on sundays, a lot of activities going on in the pub downstairs and a really cute rooftop! Just arrived to Sydney and I have to say I’m very happy to stay in a place that feels calm really close to the city but also easy to have fun in the pub just right downstairs! Special mention to the cleaners that were really nice and left everything spottless. Also to the bar and kitchen people! The food and drinks were amazing!
