The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, advising us about taxis and offering to pack us a breakfast up when we left at 4am for the airport. The was a good choice of buffet breakfast and freshly cooked English breakfast, pancakes and omelette. A large suite was available, so we were given a free upgrade, which was amazing. The pool was quite and clean. When the staff knew we were using the pool, the manned the bar and made us cocktails. We never noticed to flyover overhead and the hotel was quite. You do hear and see the occasional plane coming in, but we found that interesting and it's a quite airport. Taxis to and from the airport were less than ten euros and took minutes. Taxis to Funchal cost about 15 euros and took maybe 20 minutes. Download the Bolt app for cheaper Taxis. Walk a minute down the hill, there is a bar and supermarket, then a little square with a range of resources overlooking a church. The beach is a couple of minutes down the hill, although it is a pebble beach.

Good continental breakfast with nice order options (omelette, fried eggs, mushrooms, etc.) and you have to walk around the restaurant to find all the different food they have. Air conditioner was great, good shower and friendly and kind staff (kudos to Mila and all the staff that were really helpful).

Mattress was a bit worn, with a low area in the centre of the bed, shower could use some curtains to avoid all the water spillage and the cleaning hours could be displayed somewhere so people know when to expect the cleaning staff to come (some days they were really early, some days really late).

Great location. Few minutes walk from the center of Santa Cruz. Lots of restaurants, beach (airplane spotting!) etc. Being located right next to the airport I expected lots of crowds and tourists but I was pleasantly surprised by the peaceful and unhurried atmosphere in the village. Mainly locals at the restaurants and beach. On the day we visited there was a folk festival with lots of flowers and music from the local brass band. Even the location of the hotel itself (being right under the highway overpass) was more than made up for by the beautiful view on the hills behind it.

There was a strange taste to the pool water. My daughter got a slight allergic reaction from it. Also, there was a slightly unpleasant odor in the room and hallway. And the room attendant knocked on our door multiple times in the morning (at 9am) and asked if we needed service, even though we had the "do not disturb" sign hanging outside the door.

The hotel is located 5 min. from the airport (great place for plane spotting nearby). Close to the sea side and restaurants. The breakfast was ok, although nothing fancy. Very nice and helpful staff at the reception. You can also hire a car at the hotel. However, if you plan going for trekking in the mountains, I would recommend to take something more powerful than Fiat Panda.

We were in winter and it was a bit cold in the evenings. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning does not provide the heating option. The bed was too soft for us although we prefer hard ones so it could influence our judgement.

- the staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful, always ready to give information about the facilities or about the best ways to roam around the island (they even let us stay in the lobby of the hotel for hours after checking out) - there is free parking - the breakfast is very good, with lots of choices, even for picky eaters - the room was cleaned daily - the pool was very clean and they offer free towels that can also be taken outside the hotel, to other beaches, as long as you return them of course to the hotel - the hotel is close to the airport and to the small city centre full of nice restaurants; it’s also close to the beach

Breakfast and non-managerial staff, especially Tatiana and lady who manages front of house breakfast (all on her own!) Lovely facilities. Very nice library area with cave effect.

Two male managers who were very pleasant to customers but I saw them being horrible to staff, which I thought was unprofessional and humiliating to their staff. Other than breakfast, I wouldn't eat in restaurant for dinner (mushroom risotto was particularly bad). I was also annoyed that hotel quoted 14 euros for taxi from airport, which I knew was too high considering short distance between hotel and airport, so I was forced to get a taxi from airport (couldn't find bus) and face the wrath of a furious taxi driver who had been waiting hours in taxi queue for such a small fare (it cost less than 9 euros).

Close to the airport, bus stop nearby, fantastic car rental service that is best value on the entire island and one that doesn't require those horrendous £2000 locks on a credit card... We don't all want to take/have credit cards. The staff were incredible and we had great dialogue over the two weeks with every staff member we spoke to. Jonathan was fantastic, they were all really helpful and great with our kids. They were also great at helping arrange an early morning taxi and continental breakfast for us to have before checking out (at 3:30am).

The chlorine level in the pool was too high for my son and caused reaction to his skin that was very painful. It was a shame because that would have been his favourite activity everyday if he could have been able to go in. It didn't affect my daughter and I only went in once with my son and I was fine. So obviously doesn't affect everyone.

The hotel is located just a 25-minute walk from the airport, which is really convenient for late-night or early-morning flights. We arrived late at night, and there was always someone at the reception ready to assist with any needs. The hotel provided all the necessary amenities, including shower gel, towels, and even beach towels that you can exchange every day. A great feature is that the hotel has its own parking on the ground floor, and the staff is helpful with parking. The breakfast was amazing, offering everything from omelets, ham, and cheese to yogurt, fruits, and more! We were very happy with our choice!

Everything was good!

The hotel is in an ideal location for an airport stopover. If you are looking for views forget it.. However we had a room with a small balcony and it was pleasant to sit outside. The view was not fantastic. The room was fairly small but good walk-in shower. Lots of choice for breakfast. The staff on reception were very friendly. 2 mins walk into village with cafes. If you are an airplane buff the location is perfect to watch the tricky landings into Funchal airport.
