Beautiful hotel in a great location for exploring Amsterdam. The rooms are large and luxurious and take you back to a different time. A new January 1st policy for free minibar was an added bonus. Room service was available. Staff was kind and helpful.

The check in process was long and I had to wait in the lobby after my check in time because the room was not ready. Front reception spent a lot of time answering room calls when they should have been helping waiting guests. The reception staff was young but kind, however, they really need a front house manager who will take charge and direct staff to specific duties.

From the moment that I arrived to the property, the staff were ready and willing to assist me. I arrived pretty early and they had a room available for me which I really appreciated! The entire staff was awesome from the front desk receptionists to the housekeeping team. I am very happy that I chose this hotel and it was perfect for me as a solo traveler. Another great thing was the location, the hotel sits right behind everything so you can get good pictures, shop, and eat before returning to the hotel.

I did not like the fees associated with things that you could enjoy about being at the hotel. For example, if you wanted to order room service, you would have to pay the high price of the food and also a 15 euro service fee to have it delivered to your room. It just felt crazy to have to pay a lot for the food and a service fee to have it brought to your room when you're in the same building as the kitchen. Also, I recommend getting snacks and drinks from a store rather than using the mini-bar. I paid 20 euro for 4 sodas, this ridiculous!

About the other member of staff I really wonder after more than 10 years I come there every year where they get recruted, the reception is at the best totally rude and unprofessional. I get there for 3 days and I dont understand why Ive to pay for the breakfast instead of charge in on the room. The minibar is free.. for the first day after it doesnt get reloaded. The room is still really great but tot my mind a lot of work/renovation wouldnt be too much (anchor apparent, couch instable, lightbub off, ..) a lot of details that shouldn't be detail for an beautiful historic monument of that kind.

Liked the room (26) - this would have been perfect if it had a canal view. Location was perfect for us - central but away from the most touristy areas while close to bus, tram and train hubs. Very tranquil at night. The breakfast buffet was high quality and excellent for choice. Enjoyed the use of good pool and spa facilities. The lounge bar was a good place to wind down in the evenings and served good food. The bed gave me the best hotel sleep I can remember.

Very little to criticise and nothing important went wrong. It would have been better if face flannels were replaced daily in the room's en-suite bathroom which was otherwise perfect.

It's an amazing building..staff super nice

The mattress in bedroom weren't as one would expect in a five star hotel. Not firm enough and worn out. The spa is not at 5 star level.. for instance: only 3 loungers to rest and no staff around to watch the noise level of other noisy guests No complementary tab water was provided in the bedroom.

We loved the SPA. The room is spacious and bright with all necessary necessities. The hotel is big and old but very well maintained and clean. Location is perfect.

Lack of wayfinding signs especially where the elevator is...it can be confusing The staff seem confused even though they were helpful...seems like a lack of good management…

This hotel is a beauty! Striking from the outside and harks back to another time inside. A former shipping office, the developers have left magnificent reminders of its previous use all over the building. If only all city hotels were so historical and enchanting. Our room was huge and wonderfully comfortable. Could not hear a sound of other guests and had two excellent sleeps on our weekend visit. The Amrath is well situated near the Centraal station (few minutes walk) and its easy to enjoy the sights which are easily accessible on foot. So pleased we chose to stay here and would visit again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Amrath!

Not one thing!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel! The room was spacious, beautifully designed, and the bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The SPA and swimming pool were fantastic—perfect for relaxation after a long day. Another highlight was the housekeeping service—our room was cleaned quickly and, most importantly, to a very high standard every day. The hotel’s location is excellent, with plenty of restaurants and entertainment options just a short walk away. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect getaway!

The only minor downside was that it took a while to walk from our room to the SPA, but it wasn’t a major issue.

It was my first time booking a 5 star hotel ever and the promotional price was good (although came at down season in Amsterdam). Hope they continue this promotions! Art deco style building felt so classy plus really complete spa facilities (we mostly just wanted to stay in). Location was close to red light but was not in the busy area so was also great. Super close to the central station. Very friendly staff and also enjoyed the complimentary mini bar 🤭 would recommend and would stay again if I could.

Very confusing hallway to get to our room but its an old building so not surprised. Items in the room could be updated a bit (ie TV and TV channels).

The room we were in was a huge. Walking distance to busy areas such as central station and Damrak street but it’s in a quiet spot of it’s own. The guy who checked us in initially was very nice and accommodating. We spent the new year’s eve here, something we’ll always remember.

Rating it a bit low only because when we checked out, we left our suitcases with the front desk team, came back and spent more time in their restaurant until we left for the train station. And during this entire time which was a good few hours, we were not informed about my partner’s electric toothbrush being left in the room. We only realized it when we arrived at our next country destination.
