The Hotel Piroscafo has the best location! It is a 2 minute walk to all the ferries and less than a hundred yards to many shops and restaurants. It has a beautiful outlook to a little harbour . The staff on reception were extremely helpful. The bedroom was a great size, very comfortable beds and a lovely bathroom. The girls who dealt with breakfast are charming and very attentive and make great coffee. The choice is very varied and you certainly don’t leave hungry. I was so lucky that I chose this hotel. It was perfect!

I liked everything.

This is a fantastic small hotel in an outstanding location overlooking the old port (Porto Vecchio). It's just a few hundred yards walk to the ferry dock for trips to other Lake Garda towns and villages and a 15 to 20 minute walk (albeit uphill) to the railway station with direct trains to Verona and Venice to the east and Breschia and Milan to the west. We had a room on the third floor with a balcony directly overlooking the old port. Although this is a busy area, there was little or no noise in the room when the balcony doors were closed and the shutters down. So, we had no problems getting to sleep or being woken up after we had gone to sleep. The room was quite small but large enough to accommodate us and our belongings for 2 weeks without us feeling cramped. The room had enough storage, a very comfortable bed, effective air conditioning and a safe. The rooms were cleaned every day and were spotless. As far as we could tell, the bedding and towels were changed every day. Breakfast was available from 6.30am to 10am and provided a good range of cereals, fruit, yogurts, cold meats and cheeses, bread/rolls and cakes/pastries. The breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient. The reception team were also very friendly, spoke good English and were extremely helpful when it came to suggestions for transportation, places to eat, etc. The reception team also answered several questions for us by email before we arrived and always got back to us the same day. There is also a very helpful Tourist Information Office located just across the street. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance and you could easily try somewhere different every day if you wanted to. There is no swimming pool at the hotel but we were not looking for a pool on this holiday so it wasn't a problem for us. However, you can swim in the lake and there are a couple of lake beaches within walking distance. Overall, a great stay in a wonderful small hotel.

We genuinely could find nothing wrong with this hotel - it really did exceed our expectations.

Excellent location, in the most spectacular central area. Superb view from the balcony. Friendly and welcoming staff. Good breakfast. Initially I was worried about the lack of parking at the hotel, but everything had a very practical and functional solution. The fact that when arriving and departing you can stop briefly in front of the hotel to handle your luggage, without any problems and very easy. Then, even though it is a short distance to walk, access to the parking is simple and everything proved very functional, whenever we wanted to use the car.

Great location in the centre of things, with bars and restaurants all around. 20min walk from the train station and 2 minute walk to the ferry port to head off to other destinations on the lake. The rooms here are small, but comfortable and well appointed - good cupboard space, bathroom and shower very good, hairdryer, mini fridge etc. Get a balcony room - well worth it. No bar in the hotel, but loads within a stone's throw. The breakfast is very good - excellent pastries. Coffees all made fresh. Very nice hotel team - Receptionist and breakfast service team are great. Offered to store bags after check-out etc. Very good place.

Minor, minor things, hardly worth mentioning - small room required a sliding door to the bathroom, right next to the bed, so had to close the cupboard door to get into the bathroom - steam and smells coming out right to the bedside.

Excellent location, by a lot of restaurants. Great shared terrace looking out over the little port. Breakfast was a small but good selection, with the option to sit outside - which was pleasant before all the crowds arrived in the square. Chose the hotel because of its location and it met the expectations. Air conditioning and lift access was satisfactory.

More instructions for luggage drop off needed, as the hotel sits in a shared traffic zone - which technically private vehicles aren't allowed to enter. We were questioned by police but they accepted the fact we were checking in to the hotel - otherwise could've been fined. Car parking is a multi level garage around 300m away.

This small hotel is in a perfect and beautiful location in Desenzano del Garda. It’s a no frills hotel but staff are friendly and the room was immaculately clean. The terrace has a stunning view over Porto Vecchio, a little harbour of boats and pretty buildings and is about one minute’s walk to the lake. There are a multitude of nearby bars and restaurants. It is close to the ferry/ boat trips, and many points of interest in Desenzano del Garda. My daughter has coeliac disease and must eat gluten free food. The hotel had a good selection of gluten free breakfast foods including sealed packets such as croissants, cornflakes, muesli, bread, muffins, biscuits and breakfast biscuits. There were also fruits, gluten free yoghurts amongst other items. The selection of breakfast for non coeliacs was good for a small hotel.

I can’t think of anything really. I was not keen on the carpet pattern but that does not matter!

This hotel is so lovely. We booked a harbour view room and it was absolutely stunning views. The room was so clean and the bathroom too. Everything worked. The views at night are beautiful too. Waking up in the night and looking out the balcony will stay with me forever as it was just so beautiful. The breakfast was lovely too. It is in a great location. It is right by the boats to take you around the lake. There are so many places to eat and drink around. All the staff ate friendly and helpful.. I honestly can't fault the hotel and we ate always looking at booking to go back and we miss it so much. Thank you to all the staff.

Absolutely nothing

This hotel was the cleanest I've ever seen in decades of traveling through Europe. I arrived early and was able to drop of my luggage while sightseeing. They recommended attractions and directed me to the ferry. The staff was kind and took care of everyone like a member of their own family. Breakfast was very good. I had to modify my schedule and the front desk took care of it without a problem. The location was perfect overlooking the harbor on Lake Garda. I will definitely come back and recommend to my friends. It was a very pleasant atmosphere in a lovely place. Excellent value for the money.

Nothing.

Although the room on first appearance was quite small ( courtyard room) and bathroom/ shower was small it was totally adequate. The room was cleaned each day to a very high standard , towels changed each day along with toiletries . Even though we didn’t have a lake view there was a lovely terrace with sun beds , table and chairs which have same view for less money. You are paying for we think is the nicest and prettiest area in Desenzano . The staff were extremely helpful, breakfast was very good indeed . Car parking was a bonus for €10 a day .

Positives far outweigh any small negatives.

Location was wonderful, the waitressing staff in the morning at breakfast were great. Reception lady was lovely. All staff were Very attentive and friendly. Breakfast was good selection of fresh fruit , meats etc and pastries .

The fire alarm in the bedroom at night constantly flashes a bright white light in room every 10 seconds , it was in your eye line when lying down , disturbing sleep or ability to drift to sleep . Totally misplaced in room - needs rethinking certainly in Room 11 - aware it’s for safety but not in right place .
