The grounds of the property are beautiful. The house is full of character with lots of great historical features and references. The bedrooms are all perfectly decorated with lots of little luxuries, exceptionally clean and well equipped. The staff are lovely and go out of their to make sure your stay is special. The evening meal was simply divine across all courses. My wife and I had the most wonderful stay and cannot wait to return.

I didn't like having to leave !

Food was sensational, fresh, great choices and served on time. Staff couldn't do enough for myself & wife. The owner was a humble, honest and very down to earth.

Unfortunately, booking last min got me a room with a bath tub. Being 6ft 4, doesn't help bathing in a tub. Ideally all rooms need to be with a shower cubicle.

The location was good slightly out of town. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very attentive. We ate at the Gunroom restaurant one night which was very special indeed. The food was amazing and the atmosphere lovely. Xavier and his team are exceptional and it was definitely a treat and great value for the quality. Such a nice experience at a lovely country house steeped in history.

Breakfast was excellent

We were a bit disappointed we couldn’t park in front of property but had to park on a rough overflow car park. For a disabled driver this would have been difficult. This overflow car park needs a solid covering I.e tarmac

Breakfast was excellent, with an excellent choice of options and quick service if you complete the breakfast tick list the evening before and give them your preferred breakfast time.

The pillows were a little too firm for us, but the team came up trumps and provided softer pillows making our other nights perfect!

Dinner was exceptional

The garden was disappointing. Obviously the owners are focused on promoting the Snowden legacy and the restaurant but at some point it was be good to get an RHS garden designer in to make the garden super special.

Room was great (thanks for the upgrade!). Lovely big bed and nice bathroom. Food was good overall. Staff very friendly. Daniel was very knowledgable and gave us some great tips for the local area.

No non-feather pillows was an issue and not much water in the room. Dinner was quite expensive and as a taster menu only not a lot of choice.

So much history...atmospheric and warm...a bath in the roll top bath looking out the window was quite amazing..sitting in the drawing room for a pre- dinner cocktail, and Post dinner by the fire for a nightcap.. the dinner itself in the gun room was beautiful and breakfast was fabulous..I didn't want to leave!

All meals were excellent The welcome was outstanding & the staff are brilliant . It was great to have time too to chat to the owner . Great to see the hotel doing so well. We will return and recommend to friends

Nothing we can think of

Everything was amazing. Our room, the Caroline, was beautiful. The proprietors have thought of everything. Some homemade little treats waiting for us to accompany our in room tea & coffee. Cocktail hour before dinner with delicious canapés, then the Michelan like 3 course dinner was outstanding. We couldn’t fault this property.

The weather… but that’s out of everyone’s control, isn’t it.
