The Word amazing holds true for this place. This hotel is run by a family and they wanted us to be part of their family. The hosts were very accomdating. It’s in a great location close to Mount rushmore and all the fun attractions for the kids and families. We loved Dahl Chainsaw Art Shop which is just a few minutes walk. Amazing scuptures. The hotel serves great breakfast. Highly recommended. We’d stay here again and again if we are in the area. Oh, we enjoyed reading President Teddy Roosevelt’s quotes in the hallways of this hotel. Inspirational indeed. We were glad we chose this hotel to stay in Keystone.

The lady that checked us in was very cheerful and friendly. She was also very helpful when we were trying to decide where to eat dinner. The room was clean and had ample room for both of us. The location was perfect. We traveled from Illinois and had spent the day at Badlands National Park and were heading to Mount Rushmore the next day. The wonderful lady at the front desk told us about the lighting ceremony, so we opted to do that and it was awesome. The drive to and from Mount Rushmore was really easy and it took virtually no time at all to get to and from the location. The parking lot was a little scary at times, but everything worked out. I highly recommend this hotel. I would stay here again.

The parking lot "in the back" was a little scary. You had to go up this steep incline to get up there and the whole time you prayed that no one was coming down at the same time. We had no real issues with it in that we never met anyone mid-way up or down, and I understand why it was constructed the way it is based on where the hotel is, but it was just a little off-putting at first. Once I conquered it, it was fine.

The Inn is a delightful and attractive building as you leave town headed toward Mt. Rushmore. It is convenient for access and easy walking distance to shopping and dining opportunities. The lady at the front desk when we checked in gave us helpful suggestions on access to Mt. Rushmore, told us about their evening presentation (which we were unaware of) and gave us the best advice on where to park. She was very helpful and it was greatly appreciated. Always nice to start the day with breakfast and this one has a little something for everyone. I like sweet rolls, my wife likes yogurt so we were covered. The Inn is quiet and the rooms are clean, spacious, and the bed was comfy. For the price you can't ask for much more.

Can't think of a thing with the Inn. Some of the local dining places were a little sketchy, but overall a fun time and a nice little community.

There were several things that we liked at the Roosevelt. Primarily for us, it was pet friendly, which was a must for us on this trip. Second, it had sufficient beds and space for a family of 6 (with fun upper loft twin beds for some of the family). Third, location close to Mt. Rushmore was fantastic. Fourth, management was accommodating when a vehicle emergency kept us on-site several hours past check-out. This leads to the fifth point, the game room was very fun for my kids as they waited for me to get back from the mechanic. Sixth, free breakfast that was slightly better than a basic Hilton. Seventh, fun Roosevelt quotes posted around the hotel were quirky and entertaining. Eighth, proximity to other local attractions and amenities.

When staying at the Roosevelt, one shouldn't expect to have a Ritz experience (I mean, you're not paying for luxury). So, when asked for things I didn't like, understand, I knew (and other guests should understand) the tradeoffs. The facility as a whole (rooms included) was basic and clean...not sterile, flowery, or elaborate (which is my expectation of a pet-friendly, lower-cost hotel in a small town). This isn't a dislike, but more appropriate for the "What didn't you like?" question than, the "What did you like?" question.

Loved the location: in town, close to an outdoor activity center, walkable to dining and activities. Breakfast was decent, especially given the size of the establishment. It’s a small property, but well attended to; the staff were locals and knowledgeable about the area. I loved the Teddy Roosevelt themes throughout. We booked one of the loft rooms, which had 4 Beds (2 singles in the loft) which was great for our family of 4. They also have a pool (no spa 😢) and an arcade room with pool table and ping pong table - super family friendly!

The ONLY complaint was the AC unit struggled to condition the loft well. We ran the upstairs fan the first night but the second night the kids turned it off during the day (oops) and it got too warm to sleep and the parents beds’ were invaded 🤣.

The entire experience was better than average. A lot to do in the area. Room was very nice, comfortable beds, sitting areas outside, nice staff and good free breakfast. Food and shops within easy walking distance.

Room size was adequate, if a bit small. Located right on the main street, so street noise was noticeable during daylight hours due to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally going on at the time. Otherwise, I don't think it would have been a problem. Kind of expensive, but that's expected given the location and the timing.

I really liked the location. It was 2 miles from Mount Rushmore and in the middle of the Keystone Boardwalk. There was mini golf and adventure park across the street. I enjoyed going to the shops and restraunts that were along the boardwalk. There was a small pool and game room in the hotel as well. The breakfast was good with real eggs...not powdered hotel eggs. Although I didn't speak with many staff other than at check-in, she was very friendly. I would stay there again.

It is not a brand new hotel, but it has been renovated. Watch your step as you come off the stairs. Our TV had some internet connection issues, so when we came in for the night we couldn't watch it.

Very charming, our room was recently remodeled. Very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable. The jetted tub was wonderful after our long drive. Breakfast had both hot and cold selections with variety everyday. Coffee and breakfast was served with real dishware. No paper products here. Takes you back in time with the Roosevelt decor. Rocking chairs in the fireplace room to set and drink your coffee and relax. Outdoor tables and chairs on the patio with rockers. The second floor has a game room, pool table and indoor pool. Also a guest laundry. The lady at the front desk gave us some suggestions of where to eat and the food was delicious. Nice location, only a few miles from Mount Rushmore. We would stay here again if in the area. Highly recommend.

There was nothing that we didn't like

It's a nice hotel with friendly staff and within minutes to Mt Rushmore. Breakfast was good, we enjoyed the pancake maker. Parking was decent but could get pretty tight if the hotel was fully booked especially because it goes up the ramp that only fits one car at a time. Overall, my family and I enjoyed our stay and the staff was always helpful with every encounter we had.

You can tell the hotel is outdated (hallways, bathroom) but they do their best to maintain the hotel. The bathroom didn't have a fan/vent and instead had this knob/timer that turns on a yellow light that I guess dries the bathroom.

Breakfast was the same as other hotels. I would have liked a more traditional breakfast, such as eggs served to order, or omlets served toorder. The facility can handle it, and it would not be much to just have small, ham onions, green peppers, or whatever is in season, and just have a person to cook it in front of the person. It would make the experience more like the times of Roosevelt? Maybe? But the staff was very nice and helpful.

We enjoyed the experience.
