Lovely hotel not far from the main attractions in Portsmouth such as HMS Victory, Plymouth Historic Dockyard and the Naval Museum. Large car park and plenty of parking available. There are plenty of places to eat and drink just a short walk away if you didn't want to partake of the fayre offered in the hotel. The hotel staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was enormous, ovelooking the gardens and had a sea view although it was very stormy the weekend we visited so we had to look at it from afar. The room itself was vey clean and even had its own Christmas tree! The bathroom, although it didn't have a bath, was very big and suited our needs nonetheless. The bed was a king size and very comfortable and the nights were quiet with little noise heard from other guests even though for 2 of the nights we stayed there were Christmas parties going on in the hotel and also in the large marquee in the grounds and we had very little disturbance from any of them. Overall I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Beig a hotel you will be paying top prices for food and drink. The evening menu was a bit limited but well cooked and presented. We took our own breakfast cereal which we had in our room as we weren't prepared to spend £18 each for breakfast per day. The room was cold when we arrived but there was radiator heating available. The view was spoilt by the large marquee in the grounds which had Christmas Parties on for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed. This was pointed out to us when we checked in by the reception staff and we were given the option to change rooms if it became a problem. Thankfully the music wasn't too loud and the parties finished at 12am and after there was very little noise heard aprtr from the odd reveller who happened to be staying in the hotel being a bit noisy.

Such a lovely building. Love the style and decor. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean.

Staff could have been trained to be more welcoming on arrival and departure. For instance a ‘Welcome to the Queens Hotel’ should be standard shouldn’t it? We didn’t get this or a ‘Thank You for staying’ when we left. Notice that an Asian couple with large suitcases who could have travelled a long way were not welcomed either or asked about their journey. Seems like common decency to me? Staff we young and not unpleasant but felt like they were inexperienced. They also missed a trick not asking us if we wanted breakfast as we cd have been persuaded. But do love the hotel and location so this would not stop me returning.

Location is excellent. The room was large and very clean. Wonderful view accross Southsea Common to the Solent. Well stocked courtesy tray. The staff on reception were efficient, polite and helpful.

We have stayed here many times before and always enjoyed breakfast and sometimes an evening meal. It is a couple of years since we stayed before so were shocked to find that breakfast was now £18 per head. What we really found unacceptable was the small print at the bottom of the menu stating there would be an additional charge of £4.50 'per tray'. Presumably this would result in £22.50 per head for breakfast. We chose to go to Wetherspoons round the corner where we enjoyed an excellent breakfast for less than £5 each, with no sneaky add ons.

We stayed here a few weeks before deciding to hold our wedding there ....what a fantastic choice....venue first class, food, excellent but most of all staff.....incredible 7 nationalities all catered for with perfection, its very unusual to say everything went without a hitch, but this did....if you ever want a venue for a function of any type....this is without doubt the place to be.....and for any one thinking this is a bit OTT - I was a sales director covering Europe, Middle East and Africa for over 35 years so I have stayed in a few hotels in my life time....This is defiantly one of the best

Only marked down because the original room allocated to us - 377 was poor. It was very hot, in desperate need of decorating and a cramped room with double bed. However, when I explained to the receptionist that I would struggle to sleep in the room and could l pay for a cooler room with a larger bed, I was delighted that the receptionist moved us to 237. The room met our expectations and turned our stay from a low score to a very good score. I don't think 377 should be used until it has been updated, it does not do the rest of the hotel justice..

The original room allocated is a poor room.

Stayed here to catch the ferry to Jersey the following day. Great hotel, looks like it has been recently refurbished. The outside bar was buzzing on Sunday afternoon with a DJ and sunshine. Our room had a balcony overlooking the front which was excellent as I had a classic car which I parked in front so it felt secure - also the hotel assured me the car park was safe as had cameras.

The full english breakfast was excellent but it took over 20 minutes to arrive. As we were catching a ferry this did cause a little concern that we might miss our ferry but it was all OK

Perfect location and such friendly staff. We were treated to a room upgrade as our Silver Wedding Anniversary which was a lovely surprise. A very spacious room with the lovely finishing touches and card was appreciated. A nice atmosphere for our nightcap in the bar both evenings and a very tasty breakfast both days. Easy to walk to the Gunwharf and Dockyard areas and just around the corner from the various restaurants of Southsea.

My only small quibble would be that there was no sound for BBC1 which we reported but not resolved. No big deal but another guest also had the same problem so worth mentioning it as others might need it. The room was lovely and hot but would have appreciated being able to turn down the temperature overnight. The dial on the radiator was broken. Extremely uncomfortable overnight due to the heat.

We had a lovely stay at the Queens Hotel, I always remember walking past it as a kid on trips to Portsmouth. The hotel did an excellent breakfast in the mornings, and our room was comfortable. We did try the restaurant in the evening, and the food was lovely, although Algarve's Grill just round the corner was also excellent! The hotel was well positioned for the rock gardens, Southsea castle and the hoverport. If you're keen, it is possible to walk to Spinnaker Tower and the Historic dockyards, although our return taxi was about £7. Currently work on the sea wall to upgrade and maintain it means the esplanade has some alternate paths in place. Parking at the hotel was also very good.

Room just needed a little tlc, taps were a little stiff and the bathroom door didn't quite close.

The hotel is simply beautiful, I asked the staff about the history and they were well informed. I cannot fault reception staff, entirely above and beyond expectations. My room was stylish and comfortable with a great pressure shower. Couldn’t work out the tv but I don’t watch a lot anyhow. Had a lovely view of the sea from a gorgeous balcony. This was booked same day, and was one of the better priced hotels in the area.

Whilst the breakfast food itself was reasonable I wasn’t happy with the service. I asked a man if the kitchen were able to provide a gluten free breakfast and he said he would check. No one came to offer me beverages I had to call someone over eventually, I was patient but they appeared to have assumed someone else was looking after my table. My breakfast appeared, but no one had come back to let me know if was possible just the plate, so I couldn’t change the fried eggs for scrambled. The vegan sausage which was GF was not great, the bacon was barely cooked (I have never seen anyone ask for pale, soft and fatty bacon), for the price and given the location I would take a walk and find a nice cafe next time.

The hotel was a grand hotel, with so much history a fabulous old building. Great location, dog friendly, free parking, great food and comfortable bedroom. We had the best experience mainly because of the wonderful staff. Abbie, on reception went over and beyond to welcome us and accommodate our requirements - she was so knowledgeable about the hotel and local area and was a pleasure to speak to. Sobhi was so helpful, providing a secure store for our bikes and even helping us to carry the bikes. All the staff were so lovely and we had a superb stay. Will be back and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anybody.
