I went for a few days retreat and was amazed at the peace and tranquillity of the surroundings. There were lots of walks locally and even though the weather wasn't brilliant I was able to enjoy the New Forest. The room was just what I needed as I was able to fend for myself or eat at the pub as I wished. at breakfast there was a good choice to be had and local, fresh strawberries, local yoghurt and local honey. the food was excellent and there was local ale to be had. Definitely recommend and will stay again.

There wasn't much I didn't like as my needs were catered for. A map of local walks would have been nice and perhaps more in the way of some sort of hob but these are not really necessary.

Perfect location as we had friends providing music at the venue and it was not too far from family members and friends too. Adequate accommodation which was clean and comfortable although perhaps could be improved with a tweak here and there. Food was of a good standard and the venue obviously draws well from the local community.

It was November, so room on arrival could have been warmer if supplied heating had been switched on earlier, but who can blame because of the cost! It all turned out ok. Blackout blinds for when other customers left the venue perhaps after you had retired for the night?

Loved the location, had our dog with us, able to go straight out on the moor, loads of ponies and donkeys about, just beautiful, room lovely, our first visit here, had it's own little outdoor space with seating, fully enclosed which was great for our dog and to sit out in the evenings, pub itself was nice, friendly staff, good breakfast each morning, we had one evening meal and food was nice, large pub garden so not crowded. The little apartment had a comfy bed, also a fridge and microwave if you wished to do things yourself, equipped with a few essentials, we really enjoyed it here and will definitely visit again.

No negatives at all

I’ve stayed here twice before. The location is fantastic and the accommodation was just perfect for a trip with my dog. Pretty little patio area and outdoor furniture. Inside everything you need with microwave and refrigerator. Well equipped with kitchen utensils. Breakfast was delicious as were the evening meals with great flexibility as to where I ate, outside my room, in the garden or in the pub. Great atmosphere in the old fashioned pub and the locals were very friendly. Just what I needed a tranquil break with so many places to visit nearby.

Separate accommodation around back of old traditional pub with own patio, well equipped, small kitchen area with fridge, microwave. Coffee and tea etc, (decaff coffee would be good to add.). Quiet and good parking. Breakfast was good, although be nice to have had some choice of fruit. Meal in pub was good. Staff very friendly.

Accommodation needed a little attention, patches of paint missing on wall, tear in curtain. Floors were stone/granite tiles, so very cold (slippers were provided though). Outside door was difficult to open, sticking at bottom, possibly due to the wet weather. No TV controls, had to ask for them!

The staff were brilliant. Very friendly, & helpful. It was just what we were looking for, a lovely old traditional pub. The accommodation was well equipped. There was the usual kettle , microwave , crockery etc. Tea, coffee, & hot chocolate. There wasn’t any milk but it wasn’t a problem for us. The food in the pub was excellent. Always great service.

Once we had been moved ( due to an issue with the door not locking which caused the cold weather to come in ) we were very pleased with the room. We were initially in Rabbits but ended up in Horses where we stayed for 3 nights. We didn’t find the bed particularly comfortable but everyone is different so you might.

Loved that’s the accommodation has its own little garden so dogs can go out for a wee without needing to mess about with leads Breakfast was spot on everyday Accommodation was bigger then I expected Very close to a huge field for walking the doggos (keep on lead if they are likely to chase horses/donkeys) Although the pub is open you couldn’t hear much and went quiet at reasonable time

A few mins away from a wedding location this was perfect. Great communication from Simon re: unexpected power cut on the Sunday morning but arranged for 8.30 breakfast before power loss. Lovely pub ,great atmosphere too. Only had starters but other guests commented on the food especially the steaks.Easy parking and very quiet.

The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with just the right amount of equipment. It was really nice to have the enclosed area—great for our dog and handy for keeping the donkeys, horses, and cows out! We also ate at the pub and enjoyed the good atmosphere and delicious food.
