June 12 2025 A sunny and cool afternoon . I arrived half past 12 at The Richard. The scrumptious aroma of cookies filled the reception area , instantly transporting me home on weekends ! Then came out from the kitchen Ms. Kate,who extended a warm and enthusiastic reception. She said- " Your room is ready". She allowed me to check in early ! To my delight ! Helped me with my luggage upstairs. The room smelled clean and spotless, decor was contemporary cosmopolitan . Bedroom / bathroom has all the modern amenities ( although the building was vintage). I was tempted to take a nap, but then I was famished. I asked Kate for reco, and oh boy ! 19 Raw Oyster Bar was a pleasant surprise! It was just a block away from The Richard. Impeccable service and great food ! Going back now to the Richard- there's an outdoor courtyard with fire pit and comfy lounge sofa around, a nice touch to after dinner long conversation or simply seat there for peace and quiet. And a front porch with rocking chairs to people watch or read or relax. The Richard being in the mainstreet, restaurants , shops and everything in between are just a stroll away. Talking about shopping- almost all the shops have curated items that will make you regret shopping elsewhere. Which brings me to Ms. Ellen, at The Richard , who helped me solve my problem of needing 1 luggage to stash away my shopping haul! Surprisingly, there's not one shop selling luggage in Martha's Vineyard ! But Ms. Ellen was so kind enough to offer her own luggage ! She's a darling ! We wanted to do a photo shoot ( best friends celebrating 4 decades of friendship) she found us one professional photographer within the day ! Felt like there is nothing Ms. Ellen can't solve ! Always in her calm and composed demeanor. I've been travelling for the past 40 years. The Richard is on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever ! Kudos to Ms. Ellen and her team- Ms. Kate and Ms.

The location was perfect! We brought our car so it was great having a dedicated parking spot with name on it. The grounds were beautiful; enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor seating area. The hotel decor was bright and modern. Everything was well maintained and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast options were very good and convenient. Coffee and filtered water were available 24/7 and loved that they had ice coffee available too. The afternoon freshly baked chocolate chip cookies were so yummy. Overall, we were extremely pleased with our stay!

The room although beautiful was on the small side. The bureau took up a lot space so the clearance between the bed and bureau was narrow. A slimmer bureau would fit better or options for storage that better accommodate the room design should be considered.

Location was great and the place was newly remodeled so it looked beautiful. Staff were fantastic - very warm and friendly. And the patio and front porch were perfect places to sit a spell.

Room was a little small, but given that it was an inn, that wasn’t entirely unexpected. Also could hear the barn door closet next door rolling open and shut! Was disappointed that we had to pay $50 a night to park put car. There were only 2 cars in the lot so there was not a shortage..,

WOW! What an amazing, beautiful hotel with amazing staff. We were wowed by it as soon as we pulled up and walked through the gardens, such a beautiful building. We were greeting by the loveliest lady, Katey, who made our stay extra special and was amazing throughout. She was so nice and friendly and couldn't do enough for you, it was like staying at a friends house! The room was beautiful and spacious with an amazing walk in closet. The little breakfast buffet was great with good vegan options. Fantastic location. We came all the way from the UK to celebrate my partners 50th birthday here and our stay was super special. It's well worth the luxury price. Just everything about our stay here was amazing and perfect, we couldn't have asked for more, especially Katey who was just wonderful!

I stayed at The Richard for 2 nights. The location in Edgartown is excellent and is a short walk away from restaurants / town area / beach. The town itself is quaint and perfect for families. Katie at reception was super nice and helpful with our request for a late check-in and with food / activity recommendations. The Richard is a small boutique hotel and the rooms are slightly smaller in size, however it was perfect for a 2 night stay. The interior decorations are very modern, clean and cozy. Breakfast was included and they had a small but nice selection of locally baked goods. Would definitely recommend.

The prices are high for the size of the room, however, I understand that Martha's Vineyard especially in the summer months can be quite expensive generally. Considering that - for the location, cleanliness, design and service - I would say its still worth it.

The manager Ellen was amazing, we appreciated her promptness, attention to our booking, and the room we were provided exceeded expectations. The breakfast was delicious, her Chia pudding is noteworthy and I will be making that as soon as I get home. Can’t go wrong with this property.

I don’t think we had any complaints, maybe that we forgot/ didn’t realize we had a mini fridge until second night there.

It was a pretty small inn within easy walking distance of downtown. The gardens in the back area were lovely and peaceful with plenty of places to sit and relax. Included an outdoor fireplace. Kaitlyn was a terrific front desk host, provider of a simple but ample breakfast buffet and an all-around welcoming and charming manager.

Our only complaint was the noise level in the ground floor rooms. The upstairs rooms need to be carpeted.

Each morning hot coffee and breakfast goodies were waiting for us. While the friendly staff were setting up I popped in a bit early (cuz, coffee!) and they were smiley and not annoyed at my presence! The room was spectacular, the deck a perfect spot to take in air and enjoy the vibes and of course the location could not be beat. Oh and the yummy chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon were an added bonus! Room was spic and span, bed was heaven . . .

Breakfast was high quality, but needs more healthy options (e.g., all of the yogurt was loaded with sugar, and most of the baked goods and the granola were all sugar). We loved the neighborhood and the courtyard.

The windows didn't have screens, so on a beautiful summer trip, we couldn't open them because of bugs. And it's a shame to have such a beautiful courtyard (plenty of seating and a beautiful fire pit) but not to serve drinks and snacks (and I have to believe it'd be a high margin addition). Finally, the woman at the front desk in the morning was wonderful, but the young man in the afternoon was impersonal and not particularly customer-focused.

The room was stunning! It was immaculately clean and the bed was so comfortable. The grounds are kept so well and we enjoyed spending afternoons in the garden. The attention to detail and personalization for our anniversary in the room when we arrived was so sweet

Our room was under a stairwell so we heard a lot of noise at night, but wouldn’t deter us from visiting again! We would just request a more private room
