Our stay at The Sydney was simply wonderful. Ideally located in the heart of Edgartown, this charming boutique hotel is just steps from the harbor, shops, and restaurants—yet feels like a peaceful retreat. The rooms are immaculate, thoughtfully designed, and full of character, perfectly capturing the essence of Martha’s Vineyard. Mornings began with a lovely breakfast, beautifully presented and delicious, enjoyed in the cozy common area or out on the porch. What truly sets The Sydney apart is the staff—gracious, attentive, and always ready with a warm smile or helpful suggestion. Every detail was handled with care, making us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. We left feeling rested, well cared for, and already dreaming of our next visit.

The property is an excellent location, sleek, interior, design, quiet, and sparkling clean. It was built in 2018, so unlike the majority of historic conversions, this hotel has excellent spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Our room was on the second floor with a beautiful view of a quiet small public park. The bed & bedding was really comfortable. The room was cleaned to perfection daily. Although it is not a cooked breakfast, we loved the selection as it was with healthy offerings such as overnight soaked chia seeds, home baked banana bread, hard boiled eggs, milk alternatives etc. there is free coffee and tea available at all times, every afternoon, delicious, home-made, dark, salted chocolate chip cookies are baked and offered to hotel guests. We booked many months ahead so it was affordable right before July 4th weekend
Loved everything

A very nice and beautifully renovated/decorated boutique hotel in the nicest city on Martha's Vineyard (Edgartown). Very central location. The staff was only on site part time but they were very helpful during that period. Decent parking (although the hotel was pretty empty when we were there and parking would be a problem during high season). Very good (cold) breakfast. I really liked the common areas, which gave me an "at home" feeling. The rooms were very good size and the toiletries/linens/Wifi were first class.
This is a boutique hotel in a renovated old building, so don't expect things like a gym or a full-time staff.

Everything. Well appointed. Lovely property in an area of attractive small stores for shopping, excellent restaurants, access to Chappaquiddick Island and the water and beaches. Manager Helen even served hot chocolate-chip cookies mid-afternoon. Breakfast was simple but interesting with fruit smoothies, hard-boiled eggs, muffins, breads, croissants, granola and yoghurt. Always excellent coffee. Enjoyed the outdoor firepit with comfortable seating. We had a reserved parking spot (although it was an extra charge)

The Sydney staff were very gracious and accommodating. The property is located within easy steps to everything you come to MV for. Lovely appointed rooms with a comfy high-end nautical decor, comfortable beds with nice linens. The continental breakfast offers plenty of healthy choices including fresh fruits.
Because the property is located in the heart of the Edgertown business shops & restaurant’s, it is partially surrounded by two main streets that can get noisy when the bars close or early morning (0500-0700) with garbage trucks and other city vehicles. But, its not a big deal and we would definitely return to The Sydney.

We love the location - it can't be beat in Edgartown. Also, the breakfast is always great and the staff is kind and accommodating.
We return to the Sydney each year when visiting MV. I noticed this year that the common areas were not as clean as in year's past. Do not get me wrong - I LOVE this property and have every intention of returning again next summer - I share this only in hopes htat it will help. The hallways, rugs throughout and particularly the stairs are in need of a good cleaning/vacuuming.

The property is centrally located and beautifully presented. Our room was comfortable. We appreciated having a fridge as well as access to tea, coffee, chilled filtered and sparkling water. The breakfast was delicious each morning. Angela and Alex were great hosts; they made sure we had what we needed and offered good suggestions for our time on the island.

The two front desk staff people, Angela and Alexander are exceptional. The location of this extraordinary property couldn't be more convenient - restaurants, shops, galleries, harbor...all within easy walking distance. The shingled building's decor is simple and extremely clean, with a beachy Scandinavian vibe. Daily breakfasts? Yes, and it is very good. Laid out beautifully, with a diverse selection of foods that is geared to any palate.
This is a tough one. I didn't like nothing. Yes, there is nothing I would change. I would use The Sydney as my template if I owned a lodging facility. Such simple things to get right, and The Sydney nails it.

My wife said she'd stay here again; I don't hear that often. Maybe it was the chocolate chip cookies they baked and left out for guests or the healthy breakfast of smoothies, yogurt, banana bread, biscuits, and hard-boiled eggs. The room was strikingly decorated and the common areas were great for hanging out- even an outdoor firepit at night. The location is perfect- a block from everything in Edgartown.
The room stays relatively light in morning even with shades shut.

We liked everything. We stayed in the new building and it was very nice. The continental breakfast had great selection, including great cranberry muffins one morning and croissants still warm the next morning. The courtyard with fire pit was a great place to enjoy a glass of wine before going out to dinner. Angela was very welcoming when we arrived, gave us advice about restaurants and did a lovely job with the breakfast each morning. She is an outstanding host. Alex was very helpful also, helping us with our luggage and getting ice.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
