The hotel is perfectly located, less than five minutes walk into town, perfect for sights, bars, and restaurants. We received a very warm welcome from Brend and Veronica on arrival. Throughout our stay, Brend gave us lots of tips and suggestions on what to see and where to go. The rooms were clean, with very comfortable beds. The self-service continental breakfast set us up perfectly each day.

All good.

So glad we chose this hotel. It may not be top-ranking or canal side, but it’s location and ambience trumps everything. Located just one block behind the Vismarkt (Old Fish Market) in a more residential street, it was superquiet and peaceful yet within a few minutes you are right in the middle of a vibrant medieval city, gobsmackingly beautiful canals and bridges, historical museums and chocolate shops! It’s the best location ever. We stayed for 3 nights and we walked everywhere. Even the train station is only 25 minutes walk through gorgeous cobbled streets and the Minnewater Park. Bruges is very popular and understandably bustling with tourists all day, but if you stay a night or two you actually get a relaxing experience. The hotel itself is small and cozy – just 9 rooms – perfect. You get free continental breakfast and amazingly, Brend bakes all the bread fresh inhouse each day (this is why breakfast is at 8:30 – it gives him time for all the prep). And the coffee is fantastic! The place is full of character: wooden stairs creak as you go up to your room, the smell of fresh croissants fill the hallways at breakfast, the décor is oldy wordly etc. The bedrooms are a bit of a squeeze, yet comfort is the key. The bed is soft and plump and so are the pillows, one feels like a princess sinking on a cloud at night! Nevertheless, the bathroom is pretty roomy with lots of shelf space for toiletries and oodles of hotwater. Stepping in and out of a tub to have a shower was a bit tricky but we soon got used to it. The owners are really nice and friendly, they are genuinely happy to help you enjoy your stay in their city. Veronika is an artist (don’t forget to ask about an interesting painting of her in the dining room) and she is a great conversationalist. I think this is the best value hotel in Brugge. We will stay here again when we return.

Nothing really except the rather dim and atmospheric lighting in the bedrooms makes it a bit hard to read in bed (or anywhere in the room) at night. Some brighter lamps would definitely cheer up the place. Also a wash cloth in the bathroom would really be appreciated by many (the shower gels are great but they need to be applied by a cloth not by hand).

This was our first time visiting Bruges and it could not have been better! Our hosts were wonderful. Fully attentive and incredibly welcoming of children which is high on our priority list when travelling. The location was perfect. A short stroll from the town centre so peaceful at night. The room was tastefully decorated - comfortable and clean. The breakfast room was our favourite room. Beautifully presented and well maintained. Breakfast wasn’t too early and the continental selection was excellent. The hosts made hot chocolate for the children and, as we visited shortly before Easter, the addition of the mini Belgian chocolate eggs was a hit. The croissants and jam were delicious and always fresh. The granola, Greek yoghurt and fresh fruit was also tasty. The owners were very helpful in recommending restaurants (although you must book in advance at the weekend) and although our children were a little too young the Chocolate Museum is definitely worth a visit. Parking is within easy reach. We didn’t use our car to get around so parked and four days later, paid for the duration of our stay. There is a lovely play park within walking distance of the hotel and the smell of patisseries, waffles and chocolate fill the cobbled streets. What more can you ask for? Thank you both for a wonderful stay. Our children can’t wait to return so we hope to see you just before Christmas 2026!

We loved everything!

Excellent location, a couple of minutes walk from the centre, but in a very quiet residential street. We had separate rooms, both on the top floor, and enjoyed the views across the rooftops. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We appreciated being able to take the lift when we had bags or were simply tired from our excursions. The hotel is decorated in a broadly botanical theme and each room is a different, sometimes bold, colour, and the breakfast room and staircase were pleasant spaces with nice artwork and ornaments. The owners/hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Decent value for money in a very popular destination.

Very little to complain about. The colour/decor of my room wasn't to my taste, but my mother's room was lovely, so very subjective. The breakfast offering was a little limited, but what there was was nice and hot drink refills were offered.

This hotel is a gem! Everything either met or exceeded our expectations. The location is less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of the city (about 30/40 minutes walk from the station) but the location is residential and very quiet. The check-in was easy and friendly and the room was clean, spacious and well-appointed with a wonderfully comfortable bed! The breakfast was incredible! Continental in style, there were plenty of cereals, bread/bread rolls, meat and cheese, fresh fruit and the coffee was heavenly! The owners, Veronika and Brend are the nicest people you could wish to meet and by the end of the stay, we felt more like friends than guests. Cannot recommend more highly for the money!

One very slight thing - the breakfast isn't available until 08:30 - we prefer ours a little earlier, However, when we explained to Veronika that we had an early start on one of our days out, she agreed to let us start breakfast 20 minutes earlier - that's customer service!

Brend, the owner/manager, couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Immediately upon arrival he provided me with a city map with major attractions circled, and also let me know about special events happening for the Christmas season I wouldn't have known about otherwise. The interior and facilities were spotlessly clean, and my room at the top of the building featured a wonderful view of the city skyline, including the clock tower. Botaniek is within an easy walking distance of many of the major tourist destinations (Rosary Quay, Grote Markt, several museums) but set back away from the main roads enough that the hotel is very quiet, comfortable, and delivers a great night's sleep. Couldn't be happier with my experience.

Great location 2 minute walk to main area but far enough away from any noise. Lovely old hotel amazing beds I have to say it was one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. Good continental breakfast with English tea and good tasting coffee. The only fault I had was I would have liked a toaster. The husband and wife owners were very helpful and friendly, on the day we left there was a marathon on so we could not arrange for a taxi to take us to the station but the owner walked us out on to the main road and arranged for a taxi to pick us up to take us to the station, exceptional service.

Everything, it was so central to everything, clean, comfortable beds, quirky hotels, lovely breakfast, great host in Brend, very friendly, he couldn’t do enough to help, from advising us about the sights and where best to eat, calling an early morning taxi for us for the airport to packing a breakfast for us to have on the train. What a lovely personal touch. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you Brend for being a wonderful host.

Nothing, everything was perfect. Couldn’t complain.

Location, and helpfulness of the owners

The room we stayed in was not shown anywhere in the photos, and seemed inferior to the rooms we did see. Very dated and in need of an update. In particular the room was on the front of the building, but there were no blinds or nets in either the bedroom or bathroom which meant they had to be closed most of the time, which made it very dull. There was only one small light in the bathroom which wasn’t adequate.

The owners were lovely and very friendly without being in your face. The room was on the third floor but thankfully they had a lift. Very tall people might want to steer clear of the rooms on this level as there were sloping ceilings. The bed was very comfy and breakfast lovely - usual French/ Belgique fair of bread, confiture and ham/ cheese. Public, paid parking was nearby and not too much of a bother. The bathroom was small but served it's purpose well. The hotel is well located with only a very short walk to all the main areas.

It was very hot in Bruges during our stay with only a table fan to keep us cooler. With the way things are going climate wise I'm afraid I need air conditioning.
