The room had air conditioning that worked! The bed was small but comfortably fit me and my twin, we are both 5'10". The area felt safe and there were tons of nearby amenities that made the stay very comfortable and easy. Thank you to Roberto specifically for his help and attention regarding our stay.
The walls are thin, you can hear conversations pretty easily in the other rooms and one night there was a party other residents of the building threw that was pretty loud. Things quieted down around 1AM though so it ended up being totally fine

An arty Guesthouse in the centre of a creative, cool district of Madrid - the location was perfect! The guest house hosts made us feel welcome and allowed us to leave our bags, make use of the lounge area after we had checked out, and were prompt to answer any queries. The room itself was well laid out for a small space (as we were advised via booking messages, including warning us about the stairs...this honesty and advanced info made all the difference to checking we knew what we were getting). The air con was perfect for a warm summer evening. Handy little fridge and desk space. The cafes and shops in the neighbourhood were fabulous, the Prado Museum less than 10 mins walk and the Anton Martin metro is 3 min walk away. Would definitely book again. Thanks, Roberto and crew.

The location was excellent for my purposes, in an area of the city I like, with nice shops, cafes and restaurants, and just a short walk from the Prado and other museums. The hostal had arrangements with three local cafes for breakfast using a voucher (8 euros), but depending on what you chose, that did not necessarily offer a saving. The host Roberto could not have been kinder or more attentive. And the price was certainly competitive compared to hotels in the same area.
The owner had forewarned me that the room, although a double, was small. It was fine, well appointed with a nice en suite bathroom with a good shower, but would have been a squeeze for two people.

The photos of the room are accurate - Calamo Guesthouse provided a space that was clean and spacious, and is in a fantastic location. The place is really well maintained and modern. A highly walkable area of town. The shower was great too! Check in was easy and the staff took time to point out attractions and walking distances on a map as part of the process. They are friendly and helpful, and made everything easy for us. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and their hospitality.
This was not an issue for me and they give you fair warning about the stairs to the guesthouse, so that's fine for people without mobility issues but just be prepared for it!

I stayed for 6 days at this establishment and everything was great. The location is absolutely amazing, many main attractions are either a short walk away or you can take any bus/subway line to them from nearby stops. Everybody at reception was exceptionally kind and helpful and the room (especially the bathroom) was very clean! They also let you store your luggage after checkout if you need to, which was a huge help for me. Will definitely book again when I am back in Madrid!

The location is excellent!!!! The rooms are cozy and very tastefully decorated and well kept and maintained. The bathrooms were really clean and the shower is just out of this world. Seriously. The space is good enough for a couple nights stay. It has everything that one may need including a TV and a small fridge as well. It also has a co-working space which is just great along with some books. The staff was super nice and polite and there for all our needs. They kept in contact to address all our needs before check in and after check out. It's a wonderful place to stay if you're coming to Madrid to really take in the culture of this city. Everything that the locals love is nearby to this place including a lot of attractions. The public transport stations are also located close by. It's just a fantastic place. Would love to come back again.
Nothing much really but may be they could work on the sound proofing. We are sound sleepers so it didn't really bother us.

Perfect location in the city center - everything is within walking distance, with plenty of great coffee houses, restaurants, and museums nearby. Super friendly staff made us feel welcome.
The only downside was our room, which was quite dark since the window faced a small inner courtyard. We don’t like air conditioning and kept the window open at night, but unfortunately, the noise from a neighbor repeatedly opening and closing their window kept us awake, and cigarette smoke drifted into our room.

The location is perfect and walking distance to the main spots of the city. I was very good to go back for a short rest during the day before going out again. All the staff is really friendly and we got a great tip from Roberto about this street market on Sunday. Lots of Tabernas and restaurants nearby, and the accommodation was really spacious, clean and perfectly maintained. I definitely recommend staying there, next time I’m in Madrid I will book again. My husband and I travel a lot, and I can’t think about another place so well located and great than this one.

The location of the hotel is superb -- close to a lot of neat city attractions (the Prado, the park, botanical gardens, boutique shops, tapas bars, etc.) but it is located on a notably calm and quiet street. The two cafes that the hotel is associated with (they were a half block away) were high quality and affordable. And the hotel staff, the overall cleanliness, and the attention to details were all exceptional. My boyfriend, his mother, and myself all felt extremely welcomed and taken care of, both leading up to our stay there and during it. I can't recommend this place enough.

The staff was super nice and really helpful. Once you start the check-in process, they'll explain everything very detailed. You'll feel such a relief and very surprised about the location where you have everything close to you. Besides this, they give you a map and talk to you about what's around the area from attractions to shopping and emergency sites if something happens. The staff was very attentive to my needs, and it made everything go smoothly with no problems. I'll totally recommend people to book with them, especially those that are visiting madrid for the first time.
