Very clean room, good smell, comfortable bed and complimentary water bottles. AC, external window, shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom. Very nice and quick check-in, as well as check-out. Absolutely loved the late check-out for free :) Great location, very good place to sleep and move on to your next stop. The hostal informed me immediately about possible works being done on the roof of the building, so any noise in the morning was not an unpleasant surprise. The noise was not bad at all :)

No hair dryer inside a room. I would appreciate a space on the balcony to dry/air clothes or towel. A hook or a bead on the wooden persiana's rope would be totally enough :)

The location is great, just a few minutes from the city center. There are many restaurants and bars nearby. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful! I had a single room which was small but absolutely enough for me. I had a private bathroom which was clean. I liked that you can choose whether you need your room to be cleaned or not - most accommodations just do it anyways, but they respected whatever I chose.

Bathroom didn't have a fan or anything in it so it got very humid and stinky. The only window is directly above the bed. Even with the window closed there was a cold draft coming in. The prices in Spain are crazy! This was also a bit overpriced but still the best option for me.

Brilliant location, in a quiet street that had loads of little eateries. You can easily walk to every central part of Madrid from here. The building which houses the Hostal is grand and old. There is a concierge at the Hostal front desk and they were charming and welcoming- even giving us a kettle, when we sheepishly asked if there was any access to a kitchen to make tea. They also gave us local info. Our room was perfect for us. Small, but clean very comfortable and very quiet- with a window onto a central lightwell, so light and private and very quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

a very pleasant hotel. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the room newly decorated and very well appointed. It was well situated for both the station and for the Prado. a lively area with lots of restaurants.

slightly unnerving arrival as the outer door is also used by others (Airbnb) and we were told by someone that we should have an entry code with our passport on it! Luckily other guests at our hotel arrived and took us up in the lift to the 2nd floor to a lovely reception, whee we were issued with all the necessary keys.

Very centrally located and within walking distance of the major sights. The room has very clean facilities and a comfortable bed. Loved having a balcony allowing me to look out on daily life in the street below. The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions for sightseeing and getting to the airport.

Great location next to a cool area of Madrid, easy walk or metro to some main attractions. Clean room, decent size, good air con. I liked the balcony even though you couldn't really stand on it due to air con unit. Would stay there again.

As the room is right next to reception, you can hear when people arrive and check in, and likewise I'm sure they can hear me in my room. I sleep well so it wasn't really an issue, but I didn't like that people could hear me.

The location is quite central, and we didn't need to use the metro or the bus to see the city. The staff is nice and attentive.

The room was quite dark and nothing like the pictures from Booking.com. The soap and shower gel dispenser didn't work properly. So most of the time, we give up and wash worerself with a drop of soap. The same thing with air conditioning. The WiFi in our room had no signal. Also, there was no signal on 4G.

very good location. The Bario de las Letras is one of the most stylish quarters of Madrid, like the Quartier Latin of Paris, away from the maddening crowd of the Gran Via. The hotel is called Hostal but it is indeed a very fine boutique hotel. I recommend to take a room with no balcon for those who want to go to bed early and are easily disturbed by noise from outside (not traffic because there is none, but people talking loud in the night). I have been in this hotel several times.

The receptionist was very welcoming and answered any questions I had. My room was decent for the one night I had there but I would easily stay there for longer as it was in a great location near Sol in Madrid. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, even in the same street.

The lift is very narrow so beware if carrying a lot of luggage with you. I had difficulty with opening the door to the main reception (on the second floor)
