The room decor was very nice with light blue and white. The floors are also white. The entrance is a massive Gate followed a lift, both of which are pre world war era, but perfectly functional.Once you are inside, every thing is of new construction. The hotel and reception are on second floor. Reception is open from 10 AM to 6 PM. There after, contact night watchman who has a room behind the lift. We are a senior couple and found the hotel was exceptional with value for money. There was ac, room heater and locker. One small suggestion. The area of cupboard above the locker is not of any use. Good value. Good central location which was surprisingly quiet when in the room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The air con worked well.

Shower takes a while to warm up but that wasn’t an issue when you got the hang of it.

The staff was extremely helpful and the location is great!! It has an elevator!! The room was very clean and comfortable!! Felt like a hotel! Our room had a bathroom, too!

It did not have breakfast. Charge 5 Euros to store luggage, but that is per room, not per piece. Most places have it free, but to us it was worth it since our plane did not leave until 8:30pm

The location was very good. It was walking distance from the city center. The price was also very good for its good location. The space of the room was not so big because the price was low. But it had its own clean and good bathroom. I would recommend this place to those looking for a comfortable place to sleep with basic and simple accommodations.

I reviewed Petite Maman for my stay a few days later. Well appointed but forgot the little things needed---soap, drinking glass. Also you had better memorize the code for the front door to the street, as if you leave early (even 8am) you will be locked in. You have to reach out and put in that code on the outside wall. No release button or mechanism, and office doesn't open till 9am. And you will have turned in the key in the box upstairs when leaving.

The safety aspect of the door to the street...if you didn't use or notice the code on your key you can't get out of the building before about 8am. Also no soap and no drinking glasses. Otherwise a nice place.

It is located next to a few bars and clubs, so you may hear noise from the street late at night. Other than that, it was very good

The location is excellent. Very close to the "big four" museums. Excellent area for eating out in the evenings. Adjacent to Plaza de Santa Ana for tapas/wine/beer. A short walk to the Metro. Quiet rooms overlooking an internal patio. A useful fridge in the room. Contrary to some of the comments, there was plenty of hot water and the A/C worked perfectly.

Sound proofing between the rooms could be better. However, not bad enough that we needed to use ear plugs (which are essential in most Spanish hotels anyway!)

Staff are very nice and helpful. Rooms are big, basic and clean. Location is perfect close to everything. I would stay here again.

I had the view overlooking the court yard which is small square..in the morning it was a little noisy 🙉 with other residents/cleaners moving about..walls are thin so you can hear next door at times.

Its in an wonderful area, right in the centre of Madrid. Very helpful man in the tiny cubicle behind the lift helped me tofind my way round.

Getting out of the main door to the Hostal is very unclear. The sign by the ecit button (which is nowhere near the door) needs to be clearer.

The size, colours of the room, and space was good for what we needed at that point. The room felt spacious, bright and comfortable. The Bathroom was perfect and looked beautiful. The room was well kept for cleanliness and the use of the scented petals under the bed I thought was great. I did not even notice them at first, but did after I was curious why the room always had a fresh floral smell whenever we returned. The location was perfect, easy access to a lot of attractions or areas of interest, and the public transport.

For February the weather could often be cold during afternoon/evenings, so the room could get cold. Options for more bedding or thicker bedding would have been great, or capability to control the heating would have been appreciated. Having said that, we did not inquire into these during our stay, this could be our oversight. It says sound proofing, however sometimes we could hear noise clearly. This was not overly distracting, but an observation still.
