The location is fantastic. The street is relatively quiet and less busy, but very close to Sol square. I even saw movie people filming on this street. Room is pretty small but it has all the essentials and very clear. Met all my needs. There was room service (making the bed, changing towl) everyday! Staffs are very helpful too. Helped me booked early morning taxi to the airport. In all, it has been a great experience staying here.

The comfortable of the bed. Well situated for sight seeing and guided visit tour. The cleanliness of the room. The ruistic and original of the exterior decoration and the modern interior decoration.

There were no breakfast available as advise on the website. The shower cabin too small. There was no free airport transfer as mentioned on the website.

Helpful night receptionist who really seem to understand when I needed help I was struggling to sleep after long flight but he was always happy to respond to my requests. He was a real credit to this business if he was a member of my staff in my business I would really look after him, there are some really miserable receptionists about especially early hours of the morning believe me I dealt with some on this trip. But the gentleman here was never phased by any request for help. Rooms are comfortable and well presented, location is spot on I had never been to Madrid before but if you put a pin on the map this is the location to be for virtually everything, we did sunset view, palace tour, museo de romanticism, tapas night out. All from this location, we intend to come back and not other hostal has a chance of my business if I can stay here again.

Maybe a mini fridge in the room and some tea and coffee I u decretándolos why they may not encourage this because of risk of spills, but I think as an add on they could charge for utilising them.

The proximity of sights to see very close to major sites metro stations Bus Stations Restaurants was beyond my expectations. My GPS WAS NOT working properly and they gave me excellent directions, the staff at the front were exceptional. Looks can be deceiving but for a single traveler it was excellent, from the outside it doesn’t look much but once you get in you will be amazed at how well they organized and attention to detail.

Nothing the rooms and bathroom was spotless and cleaned everyday.

The location could not be better, right in the centre of Madrid, next to transport to get anywhere in the city, with bars, restaurants and shops all around. The room was great for our needs and we weren't caught short for anything. There is a vending machine in reception.

The lift was broken, and there was a slightly complicated way of getting to the room, but this is nitpicking, as I am supposed to write something here. I really have no complaints at all. My Mum lost her keycard almost immediately and this was solved with no fuss whatsoever.

Comfortable firm beds, as many pillows as we asked for, clean room, ideal location, responsive staff and cleaning crew, very kind front desk workers. I loved that the cleaning crew did NOT knock on my door asking to come in. I loved the early check in time of 1 pm and the late check out time of noon. I loved that a great breakfast place with eggs was just a one-minute walk away.

Cool old building in an excellent location to explore the historic areas on foot. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Noise travels too well through the building. Not from the outside double insulated windows it was internally you can hear people closing doors and walking down the corridor like they’re in your room. Should only bother light sleepers though.

Fabulous location. Good room. Little fridge was nice to have. Lively neighborhood with tons of wonderful restaurants close by - excellent vibe. Good hotel security in busy neighborhood.

Check in was a little tricky - no previous info provided (all the other hotels sent me a message beforehand). We showed up with no idea what to do. Finally figured out to walk down little hallway and found a tiny sign "Astoria" with a doorbell on it. Then it was easier after that. Staff friendly etc. once we figured out how to get in.

Great location close to the art galleries. Small but comfortable bedroom. Duty staff member provided me with a an electric kettle for making cups of tea in my room.

Very cramped in bathroom, with toilet jammed between shower and wall, and not comfortable to use. I assume things were arranged this way because of plumbing, but the space could have been better used!

Everything was great! The location could have been more perfect for sightseeing. Every sight is in walking distance. The personal was friendly and also spoke English. There is a 24h reception. The room was being cleaned every day and although it was rather small, it was exactly what needed! There was always warm water and even a small desk in the room, which was really practical for me. The building is old but really charming and rather part of the whole experience - for me this was no problem since the condition of the room was very good and above all clean! I would definately recommend Hostal Astoria for a cozy stay in Madrid and would gladly come back in the future.

One could note that noise could be heard at times from the corridor. This did not bother me much. However, I could imagine that someone more sensitive with those things might have had an issue. That said, I believe that the positives outweight any slightly negative aspects overall. The price is fair and rather a good deal!
