Perfect location in the heart of the historic centre and a short walk to the river and major sights. Great restaurants and bars nearby with a fabulous atmosphere. Stunning historic building renovated sympathetically to a very high standard that highlights the original feel and features. Very comfortable and well appointed rooms, high quality bedding and amenities and the best shower I have had in any hotel - walk in, excellent water pressure and easy to use!

A lack of staff in the lobby bar/bistro area resulting in slow service and dirty dishes left on tables - really detracted from the overall ambience. The staff were very nice, but there were just not enough of them to service the area to an appropriate standard when it got a little busy. Rooms not made up until very late was also quite annoying along with the lack of toilet paper!

Location was amazing. A quiet oasis from the bustle of the street. Comfortable, historic. Great breakfast room. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. We had a twin room. The beds were larger than most twin rooms we've stayed in throughout Portugal and Spain so that was a bonus. Lovely view into the ancient courtyard.

One one day our room had not been cleaned. We let them know, thinking they would get someone asap as a courtesy but they did not unfortunately. We did ask for replacement towels, coffee pods and some bottled water which they did provide (while we were out of the room at dinner) however our room still had dirty cups right next to where they placed the fresh bottles of water?

Located on lovely pedestrian/touristic street in the heart of the city. Nearly everything in the city is a walkable distance away, so we never really needed to take the public transport/taxi unless we did day trips out of town. It's also about 5 minutes away from Sao Bento train station, so it was easy to get there even with our luggage. Staff was very nice, they recommanded restaurants to us, and helped us book them. One complementary drink voucher was given to each person in our party to enjoy at the hotel bar during happy hour. Room was clean, and water, Nespresso coffee pods, and tea sachets were replaced each day. Beds were also redone each day without having to ask for room service. Shower pressure was amazing.

Would have been nice if there was an additional fan option in the bathroom to remove the steam after the shower.

Lovely hotel with good views and central to main attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. Very good choice for breakfast. Very nice home made biscuits provided in the room and bottled water daily,

My husband is coeliac and required a gluten free breakfast which we had notified the hotel about previously. This was provided and on the first morning there were bread buns and baguettes provided but on the second and third mornings there was no sliced bread for him to have toast which he was disappointed about. The baguettes were provided but he was not keen on these. The waiter did apologise for the lack of sliced bread and said it had been ordered but not delivered.

The staff- oh my! It was my daughter's 25th birthday and I decided to treat her to a trip to Portugal. Whilst in our room shortly after arriving at the hotel, we were surprised with a bottle of wine and a slice of cake- with the staff member wishing my daughter a happy birthday! That was such a nice and unexpected gesture that kicked off a fantastic weekend. The choice of vegan food was good at the hotel. The vegan breakfast was amazing! There were a few restaurants close by that served vegan food which was an added bonus of the location of the hotel. The location was perfect. This weekend was intended to relax and have a spa weekend. The facilities at the hotel were exceptional. My daughter was spoiled this weekend. She felt like royalty and that in part was because of the setting of the hotel and the staff. I would 100% come back and 100% recommended this hotel. This was our first time in Portugal and thoroughly enjoyed it

Two minor things, 1) our room door wouldn't open fully (scrapping/ jamming the floor) 2) the pool was really small

Clean, quiet (we had interior facing Palace Room), excellent staff, great location near most sights and many good restaurants, excellent breakfast. Lovely atmospheric hotel. Room very comfortable and well laid out with lovely bathroom. Staff was best of all, especially Diogo who went above and beyond in helping address my allergies at breakfast. Spa was nice too. Overall a perfect stay and I would definitely return.

I like to sleep cold and I wasn’t able to turn down the heat. It may be that I just couldn’t figure it out, but I was too tired to call for help. I just opened the window and that worked. Also, toiletries were lovely and they gave you ample plastic bottles, which was nice but I hate to waste and I know in the U.S. they usually toss the bottles, so I took them with me to use later. But then it occurred to me later that maybe they refill the bottles in Portugal. I wish I had asked. If they do, it would be nice to know.

The elegant modern decor, is so tasteful and empathetic to the original beauty of the building. The hotel is exquisite, and our room on the top floor, was a highlight of our trip to Porto. The staff at reception are very friendly and accommodating to requests.

As the city is building a metro infrastructure, there are a lot of roadworks around the public car park located approximately 200 meters from the hotel. The closure of streets, and the traffic made the car park difficult to access. However, this issue is completely out of the control of the hotel.

The property was stunning and we received a lovely welcome at reception, as well as complimentary drinks! The view of the courtyard from our bedroom was stunning, and the bedroom itself was beautiful. The room had everything we needed, including aircon, water, tea, coffee, gorgeous Portuguese biscuits and lovely toiletries! The sunken bath was a huge hit!

The only criticism would be that the temperature of the bath water could have been hotter. We ran the hot tap for ages but it never got really hot.

Room 307 is at the end of a corridor so quiet plus it has an extra large terrace with sun loungers. We much appreciated the walk-in closet too. Breakfast was excellent.

Staff advised us to wait at a particular spot (the pharmacy) for our Uber but clearly forgot there were roadworks blocking the usual access which delayed our car's arrival. The (very small) indoor pool was rather cloudy. I didn't say anything as I though it was perhaps deliberate until I saw it crystal clear the following day. It shouldn't be allowed to get cloudy like that.

The biggest plus of this hotel is the staff. Really friendly and accommodating. We got upgraded to the higher floor room, which created a nice opportunity to have stunning view of the city. The breakfast was so yummy and fresh, the choice of dishes was above our expectations.

The small disadvantage is that there is no cheap parking around and the hotel is in the pedestrian zone. We had a bit of a hassle with finding car parking within proximity of the hotel to walk with heavy luggage. And the parking is quite pricey.
