I loved everything about thus hotel from the moment I walked in the door. I got a warm welcome from Gael who is anazing,warm friendly and extremely helpful. It was a nice tough having a tea/coffee/cake when you first arrive. Tbe rooms are small but very modern and cosy. The beds are so comfortable in fact the best beds I've ever slept on. The showers have shampoo/conditioner and shower gel. All made in Iceland. My only critique is the water from the shower kept flowing out to bedroom floor due to the way the shower is built. Breakfast is great, huge selection. Location is amazing , 2 mins walk from everything. Book your tours with the hotel Nd I strongly suggest taking the west Iceland tour with East West. The small tours are way better than the big bus tours.Alma/Gael can help. The staff are like family hete. I promise you will not want to leave. Alma is so lovely and will literally go above and beyond to make sure you are ok. Alma's brother also works here, he is a big foodie and can suggest great rest6. Gael is lovely, kind, helpful. You will enjoy everything about this gorgeous hotel.

Just a small criticism. But the way the shower has been built, the water at times flows out yo bedroom floor

We stayed in Lokal 101 already 3 times and we cant stop thinking about going back again. The central location allows you to walk everywhere, clean and spacious rooms, modern design, breakfast with pleasant variety taking under consideration diets / allergies and serves the products grown locally in Iceland. The main reason why we come back is that magical atmosphere / feeling you get everytime you walk in - Icelandic music always playing in the background, everyone from the staff is always ready to help, coffee / tea available in the afternoon, and the design - all the details in terms of decoration, art, the way this place was reconstructed reflects on where you are - you breathe Iceland. The place has real soul that makes the stay in Iceland so unique and complete. It is visible in every detail that the owners care deeply for highest level of comfort for their guests. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Reykjavik.

The staff were amazing. All of them were kind, friendly polite and beyond helpful. Special thanks to Dimitria. The cleaning team did amazing job every day as well. The room was clean warm and spacious. The hotel was in the center of the city close to at least 3 of the main bus stops in Reykjavík. We also had breakfast in the cozy and cute lobby area where you can also order drinks if you want. In the common area of the hotel they are serving you free coffee or tee, cake and croissants through the cold days which serves them with bonus points. Definitely recommend!

Most of the staff were excellent, especially Gael, who helped us set up three trips as well as select the best spa in town. One time, the TV sound stopped working, and they quickly supplied a new remote to resolve the issue. The music in the dining area was subdued and pleasant, all Icelandic. The lift was convenient and you could store your bags if you arrived early or left after checkout. The hotel is close to restaurants and shopping, all within an easy walk. The restaurant in the hotel was excellent. Sheets and towels were new everyday.

Our petite double was small, but the bed was comfortable. The only additional furniture was a small stool. The bathroom is quite small. There is another sink in the room. It too is small and the faucet is too long. Water can easily splash out. The control for the heat is not convenient to reach or to read the dial but you can adjust the heat. You just need a light and some flexibility.

This was my second time at this hotel and both stays were excellent. The beds are the most comfortable in any hotel I’ve stayed at in Reykjavik and although small this time, the bathroom was very functional with a small washbasin in the room itself. Design of the rather small room was clever and tasteful. All the staff I met were helpful, friendly and casual, which for me is important. I had light meals on two occasions, excellent, and I really liked that the small bar/restaurant was popular with other Icelanders - it’s only a couple of minutes away from proper downtown area and still it feels different. I need to stay in Reykjavik at least once a month, and this hotel will now always be my first choice. Simply excellent.

The breakfast was fresh with Skyr, oatmeal, boiled eggs, breads, meats and cheeses. Ample coffee and tea and juices. The room we had was quiet and comfortable and was well-appointed to meet all our needs. We dined in the restaurant and found the food to be very good, highlighting local ingredients. Staff were the stars of the show. Helpful, responsive, friendly. Location was ideal - steps to most central monuments and sites. Near two of the bus pick ups and strolling distance to shopping amd restaurants.

Really no complaints or concerns of any sort. Was a wee bit hard to find upon arrival so was glad to see a new sign being put up to make it more obvious for newcomers. The open design of the shower meant occasional water migration onto the floor; one needed to be careful not to slip or track water into the bedroom area.

The location was brilliant. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was nice (not the most extensive but all that I needed). It has a nice bar/restaurant downstairs for a few drinks in the evening.

I arrived to the hotel quite late and I wish I'd have asked for the heating to be turned on. In my tired state, I didn't notice the chilly temperature until after I fell asleep. When reported this the next morning , the heater was turned on quickly. I maybe should have had a better look for it myself but the day's travel meant I went straight to bed!

Really good location, close to bus stop #4 which was on the pick up route for all day tours. The staff were amazing, really friendly and super helpful with giving suggestions on what to do in Reykjavik. Special shout out to Gael, he helped me organise transport to my next hotel when the hotel were not helpful at all and gave no info! He checked my route on google maps and when he realised I was staying in a remote place where the taxi app wasn’t likely to work, he called taxi companies to make sure I could get a taxi there and that they go to my location. My next hotel was near to Selfoss but the hotel didn’t specify which bus stop is best, so Gael looked at all of them and advised me the best one. He’s amazing, I would have been lost without him! Also the hotel has free tea, coffee and juice throughout the day which is great if you’re going around Reykjavik or need a drink before heading out for the day.

The rooms are not sound proof and you can hear everything from your neighbours, including when they shower - I woke up in the middle of the night thinking there was a leak in my room and water was pouring in, because the person in the room above was showering and you could hear the water so loudly it’s like they shower in your room.

Super friendly kind staff, cute property full of character, cosy vibe, very comfortable bed, large bathroom, lots of space for luggage, excellent breakfast (best porridge and club sandwich I’ve had in a long time!). The location was excellent.

I couldn’t get a good coffee at breakfast despite there being a coffee machine behind the bar. Only filtered available. I would have happily paid for a real one. It’s not a quiet property as it’s an old building which has been renovated (to a high standard). You can hear the bar customers (but when it’s closed - at a reasonable time - it is quiet) and in the morning you can hear the staff setting up even though they make efforts to be quiet. I was in the basement room which I didn’t like - as a woman on her own I didn’t like that the window opened on to the street and the door was by the service area. Ask for a higher floor if you’re a solo woman traveler. Other than that it was a cute cosy stay.
