I love the old charm with the modern amenities. It’s just beautiful and I felt like I was a guest in another era. The bed was just amazing.. I slept like a kitten,. The food is amazing and the presentation stunning. Location is perfect for my needs. Staff are friendly and helpful.

You have to plan accordingly if you would like a dinner ( as it can take up to 1 1/2 hours, but worth the wait. I love the fact that they have 2 small bars which are based on the customer filling out their bar book as to what they imbibed. A rare occurrence in today’s world. It may be difficult for someone with mobility issues to climb the stairs to their room.

Impeccably thought out, very well run, thoughtful curation and placement of vintage books, antique furniture and artwork. Plus, the cat Bagheera, who oversees all with a mixture of affection and feigned indifference. It’s very peaceful and quiet, with lovely rooms where one can sit and relax, well stocked honour bars, and plenty of old books to peruse.

What’s not to like?? Great location, close walking distance to many sights of old London, steps from the Charterhouse and Great St Barts, as well as a 15 minute stroll to St Paul’s. Do ensure you are in good walking and climbing shape though, as the hotel does not have a lift! We were on the very top floor, which meant we thought twice about leaving the room for anything!

A Love Letter to The Rookery In Clerkenwell’s quiet, cobbled grace, We found a most enchanting place— Where time stood still, and charm ran deep, And history whispered us to sleep. The Rookery, with its stately air, Wove elegance through every stair. Each room a tale, each nook a dream, Bathed in a warm, nostalgic gleam. The staff—oh, what a gracious crew! With every smile, their kindness grew. Attentive hearts and thoughtful ways Lit up our London night and day. We wandered halls of oak and gold, Where stories of the past unfold. A quintessential British stay— Refined, romantic, tucked away. So here’s our thanks, both deep and true, To all who made our dream come through. The Rookery—forever dear— A blessing to us, that much is clear.

The Rookery is an attractive inner city boutique hotel in Farringdon and is very conveniently located for exploring London’s Westend. The decor is sheik with sympathetically chosen textiles and contemporary colours. The staff are welcoming and provide excellent local knowledge and London tips for guests. We appreciated the deep roll top bath..just the job for soaking away the days travel. All in all pricey but recommended.

Our room lacked a convenient power point for easy use of the supplied hairdryer and these days it seems odd that mobile charging is not provided on both sides of the bed. My partner would have preferred the door to have a separate internal deadlock but the building and fittings are from an earlier period.

We booked The Rookery as a treat for my 40th birthday weekend. It had the intimacy of a large house but the benefits of a hotel. The staff were all so lovely and welcoming, the layout quirky like being in old London. We LOVED the gin bar and honesty style, so you could make a drink whenever you wanted just write it down. The bed was really comfy and the room so spacious. I also loved the TV being hidden behind the mirror over the fireplace! Baghera the cat was an absolute highlight too.

Nothing! Loved it all, totally our style.

Very charismatic building. Tastefully and skilfully refurbished with many original historic features kept in order. Excellent breakfast. Very good bath tube! Very helpful and professional reception staff. Good location. Charming cat! We would definitely be pleased to stay there again.

Issues in the bathroom: 1) One of the taps on the bath was leaking. 2) Toilet seat was not held in place properly. 3) no door lock in the bathroom/toilet Issues in the room: TV with no working TV channels whatsoever (broken apparently) - luckily streaming from the phone worked, no door lock or bolt/security chain on the entrance door The cleaner knocked on the door in the morning long before checkout time despite the "do not disturb" sign displayed.

Intriguing property, beautifully furnished, fantastic location. Service was fast and efficient. Windows could be opened.

Tea and coffee making facilities were not provided, but they were brought on request and replenished daily. Having fresh milk was wonderful. The trouble is that they were brought, complete with full tea set, on large trays that teetered on small round tables. Because everything had to be ordered in and then balanced on antique furniture, and staff always looked slightly anxious, we agreed this is not a place to go to relax and unwind.

Old English charm, super close to Farrington subway station, safe and walkable and quiet area, very friendly and helpful staff at all hours of the day, honest bar was unique and enjoyable.

Toilet flushed was on a long hanging chain, no rhyme or reason on how to get it to flush and often took several minutes to get it working, staff did not warn us it was an issue but when I brought it up later offered to move us to a new room. There is a bath but no shower. Full sized beds are really small especially if you are not used to it. Sink space is very small, no room to put any toiletries.

Everything. The history, the comfort, the service, and the overall feel of the hotel. I particularly enjoyed breakfast being delivered to the room each morning (small note here, the breakfast wasn't included in the cost of the room but was very reasonably priced). The shared guest areas were very well presented and comfortable. Other guests must have thought so too. There was always someone about enjoying breakfast, afternoon tea, or just an evening drink. Finally, the hotel cat was a lovely surprise. She was very friendly and gave the hotel a real homely feel.

I liked everything.

Was great for a treat, went on the trip for a couple of nights to spoil myself. Bed was super comfortable, bath tub was excellent for relaxing, food and room service top notch, every staff member was lovely

Soundproofing could use some work, there were sounds from the street in the early hours of the morning (Saturday night in London, what are you going to do, to be fair) plus there was another guest in a nearby room who had a terrible cough that kept me awake all the first night there
