the location and parking were great for what we needed, the staff friendly and the breakfast ok. generally the design elements and building were well done. charging point for Tesla drivers, front and rear entry for after hours. staff helpful.

the room was smaller than I'd thought, and various things in the room were a bit tired. the bathroom area has lots of mild steel which is rusting, and the tv input was flakey. the bed was ok, but nothing special. the lighting in the room was weird, with no bedside lighting which wasn't a super bright downlight. mostly the room was fairly quiet, with double windows blocking out the outdoor noise. typical for many hotels these days they've filled the fridge with chargeable items leaving no space for anything else, and it's a tiny fridge. limited hanging space.

It was okay, but not as good as we expected. For the price, we would have liked a clean washbasin that drained, more than one towel each, and at least one bottle of water in the room. The TV was set at an angle to the bed which was very difficult & uncomfortable to watch. I feel, to be expected to pay for drinking water is unacceptable! The location was good, although the road was closed & the hotel did not advise us of this & we booked a table in the restaurant but were told it was unlikely we would be able to eat there unless we were willing to wait. However, we did get a table and enjoyed our meal. The majority of the staff were very pleasant.

Great location. Very cheerful and helpful staff. Very comfortable bed The hotel is a renovated 1905 Post Office so very unique. A little disappointed with bathroom. Hand basin very slow to drain. needed plumbers attention I suspect, and shower fittings were rusty in some places. An issue with the material used. Black fittings/decor in bathroom hard to keep clean. Have reported this to the hotel direct so hopefully they will remedy the problems. Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

This hotel was a real treat! An old post office turned into a real high-quality restaurant/bar and hotel. Only a few minutes walk from the centre of town, the location is great. The staff were all very friendly and genuine, and the room was very high quality, beautifully furnished and clean. It was a real shame we couldn't stay for longer! Tauranga was one of the highlights of our trip throughout New Zealand, and this hotel was, very fittingly, one of the absolute best we stayed at.

Honestly, I can't think of any real complaints. This place is great!

Good location, short walk to Tauranga waterfront with restaurants and a great children's playground. The hotel is situated in a beautiful historic building. Nice restaurant downstairs. Easy free parking at the back of the hotel for guests. The interior decor is high spec. Our room was quite spacious.

The only thing - the heating system was a bit tricky to turn on to heat up the room. It was quite cold in the bathroom.

the accommodations were fantastic. The outside veranda area for eating and lounging were very nice. The wait staff took excellent care of us. The location was great.

We talked to the lady at the front desk at morning about a place to eat. She directed towards the downtown. We found a tiny little place, but that was just okay. As we walked back to the hotel, we found a fantastic dinning area just down the road from the hotel. All we had to do was simply walk directly down the hill towards the water front. So the recommendation is to have a list or map of restaurants in the area that are open in the morning.

Decor was beautiful. Lighting in the room was special. The appearance of the building was gorgeous with a lovely bar downstair. Toiletries had lovely fragrances. Very comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful with special mention to Anthony who had some interesting stories to tell.

Bathroom could have been more private and framing around glass petitions was rusty. Toilet seat had paint chips in it from having been painted over It’s original white colour. Light switches were a little tricky to find at times.

Wonderful location and building in the centre of Tauranga. Very helpful staff, and the building is beautiful. No breakfast service on the weekends, but there are plenty of other breakfast options a block away. Room was large and comfortable, with an avant-garde decor. Bar service finishes once the last dining guest has left, and it seems that most of Tauranga is in bed for 21:30.

Great location, with the central area a block away and easy transport links through to the Mount. The building itself has been lovingly restored, and the restaurant is fantastic both for food and the environment.

Only real mark off is that there's no breakfast served in the hotel restaurant during the weekend, but there are plenty of great spots in Tauranga and the Mount to check out instead.

Location was great. Nice on site parking, lots of it too. Ashley & Co products are a nice touch. Bistro downstairs has delicious food, the pizza's and duck ragout lasagna were really good. Attentive and friendly staff, very clean place. Shower has rain head shower and also handset; rain head is gigantic and nice, handset is like a fire hose if you like good water pressure. Comfortable bed, nice AC unit (temp can be set between 19 Celsius and 24 Celsius), LED lighting, ceiling is SUPER high (it must be like 4-5 metres) so feels like a very spacious room.

I have to mention this (I have NOT deducted from the score for this) cause it's mind boggling, but the TV bracket is a travesty. In the room I was in, the TV is parallel to the bed. It has a bracket that can be moved off the wall and turned, but the furniture blocks a portion of the screen. It doesn't seem like this pole is even structural so not sure why it's blocking it, and the opposite side of the room has nothing in the way. Can't figure out who thought that would ever work. You kind of forget about it eventually while watching like I did.
