Murren was fantastic!

I was disappointed there weren't more lunch and dinner options at the restaurant. They had a very large restaurant sitting area to include multiple rooms, lounge area, and outside area. I was very disappointed we couldn't enjoy the sitting areas with our own food and drinks while staying at the hotel. I understand not allowing outside food and drink in the main restaurant but the other areas really should have been a available for guest to use. The staff wasn't overly helpful or friendly. They were adequate. The hotel was not staffed beyond around 7:00. Very unusual. The hotel had a cart to haul things in. It would have been nice to offer it to guests for use to haul luggage to and from the train station as it was quite a distance for those with notable luggage.

Lovely old hotel in a great location in Murren with the best views of the mountains! Clean and tidy, including the shared bathrooms. Really liked the vintage style decor in the rooms. Great breakfast, lots of variety. We had the Panorama Room with a balcony which had amazing views, as does the main hotel terrace and dining area. Great location at the other end of Murren meant the location was quiet - the only sound was cow bells on the upper meadows!

Only one toilet per floor made it quite busy at peak times. Dining was limited at the hotel, although the set menu was great value, it did not really cater for kids or teens and a number of other hotels and restaurants were closed. That meant we had to eat out or get food from the supermarket (it's got a great selection btw) - quite limited without jug, microwave of fridge. However, it is a hotel and so did not expect that to be provided - just a word of caution if you are travelling with kids. Staff were friendly but pretty casual. Outside the hotel and terraces could use a bit of tidy up.

Absolutely magical — Hotel Regina is an unforgettable gem tucked away high in the mountains, quite literally among the clouds. The location feels almost dreamlike, with panoramic views that shift with the light and mist, creating a sense of peace and wonder that’s hard to put into words. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff was immediately felt. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and eager to make sure our stay was special — nothing was ever too much trouble, and their kindness really added a personal touch to the whole experience. The rooms are simple but incredibly comfortable — the memory foam beds deserve a special mention; we slept like babies every night. While the bathrooms are shared, they’re very thoughtfully designed, spotlessly clean, and there are plenty of them. Each shower is in its own private cubicle, and we never once had to wait or felt a lack of privacy — it was all surprisingly seamless. One of the absolute highlights was the food. Truly outstanding. Nearly everything is made using produce from their own garden or sourced from nearby local markets, and you can taste the care and freshness in every bite. It was honestly some of the best food we’ve ever eaten — not just in the region, but anywhere. The atmosphere is calm and restorative — wonderfully quiet, with a lovely terrace perfect for enjoying a drink while soaking in the views. Whether you’re coming to hike, relax, or just take in the mountain air, Hotel Regina is a perfect base. We’re already dreaming of coming back.

I had the best view looking out on the mountains! I was on the 4th floor corner room facing the mountains. Some lower floors even had balconies to sit out on. The breakfast buffet was very good with fresh ingredients and attentive staff. Only issue was having to close the windows at night due to talking/noise from the lower terrace area. The bar is open until 2300. Once the windows were closed, I hardly heard much from below, so fairly soundproof. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was ample storage space with a sink in your room. There was also a table with two chairs in my room. The shared bathroom and showers were good. They were checked by staff at least twice a day per the check off sheet.

The panorama room is spectacular!! It was such a treat to wake up and go to sleep looking at the snow-capped mountains. The main hotel is beautiful as well - we got talked into booking "board" with our room (40 CHF for a 3 course dinner each night) and it ended up being a highlight. The dinner was delicious and the dining rooms have spectacular views too. We also enjoyed sitting in the drawing room/library with the other guests, it felt like a living room. This hotel was a splurge for us, and it was absolutely worth it. My companion loved it so much, she wants to get married there.

It's an old building, so you can hear the other guests through the walls and ceiling (though everything was quiet after 10pm). Also I wish all the rooms had ensuite bathrooms (though the shared bathrooms were very clean).

This is a basic room in the hotel. The shared toilet (one for males and one for females) in the corridor and shared showers, individual showers within one room need better explanation when booking.

The hotel is old and historic which is why we stayed there with incredible views of the Eiger and other mountains However, the walls are paper thin. On our last night, I had to knock on the door of the adjacent room and ask the guests there at 1 am not to make so much noise. Simple conversation yet shouting.

✅Great old charm being the “oldest motel in town” ✅Mostly old people or hikers stay here so it’s a very quiet and tight nit community ✅Hotel staff were lovely

❌Language barriers between hotel staff and guests (we were told to go on a “2 hour hike” but it was actually a 5 hour hike that costs us $200) ❌”Buffet Breakfast” was below average (if you eat like a squirrel, then you will love it). They serve every nut and grain under the sun, yoghurt, cheese, tomatoes and cucumber. If you want a juicy bacon and egg roll and some hash browns, then this isn’t the buffet for you.

The view is perfect, do not expect a modern hotel, the charm is the history of the hotel. We stayed in this hotel last year, we really liked it. It is a perfect start for hiking. I think it is the best village to experience the uniqueness of this area. During our stay I experienced an issue with a payment (charged amount was to high due to a typo, this was perfectly solved, thanks to support of the friendly staff).

Check what you are booking, we know the hotel, we booked a room with a view. Expecting a balcony and nice side room. When checking the reservation the room was compliant with the booking details. So check what you want and make sure you make the right booking: amount of beds, balcony, mountain view. During checking in we where able to upgrade the room, but it came naturally with extra costs.

When you talk about Murren, you have to talk about how crazy the view is from the Regina terrace. If you stay there, be by those windows as often as possible. The breakfast was also a great selection and a good amount before a morning hiking. The location in relation to hiking Schilthorn is ideal, and the cable cars are easy enough of a system to figure out (I parked at Stechelberg). This was one of my favourite stays on my vacation! Though it was a shared bathroom, I rarely had to wait for long if at all.

Because of how great the location of this hotel is, the outside gets BUSY during the day with tourists and it is very loud - due to no aircon or fans, you have to have the windows open in the summer which is largely inconvenient if you want to nap post-hike. Make sure you figure out dinner before 7.30pm as everything in town closes (though the Chinese takeaway is great for a late meal if you miss everything).

Because we were out and about so much, I wouldn't have thought it was worth it to pay extra for the mountain view. However, it ended up being such a treat to wake up and go to sleep with such scenery right out the window! The breakfast room and the breakfast food were wonderful -- more incredible views and delicious local breads, homemade jam, herbed cottage cheese (which they shared the recipe to us), wonderful cappuccino machine, etc. Fixed price dinner menu appeared to be a good value for the amount of food (dinners were quite pricey in Murren) but the menus while we were there weren't the traditional Swiss entrees we were looking for (fondue, raclette, etc.) Shared bathroom situation ended up being no big deal -- shower room was co-ed with 2 to 3 shower stalls per floor which were clean, large and great water pressure. 1st floor is half a flight of stairs from the lobby with an elevator that served 2nd thru 3rd floors.

A room with two twins should be a separate booking type from a room with a full bed since that is very different in terms of the amount of sleeping space for two adults. Lunch menu could use some additional items.
