We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The staff was amazing – warm, friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The pub itself is so charming – cosy, cute and full of character. Breakfast was really nice – fresh, tasty and a perfect way to start the day. The location is peaceful and beautiful – perfect for a relaxing getaway. Everything was spotless – our room was clean, cosy and very comfortable. We were also travelling with our dog, and everything was perfect for him too – Elmo absolutely loved the place! 🐾 We truly enjoyed the calm atmosphere and felt completely at ease. We would definitely come back again (and again!). Thank you for such a lovely and memorable experience.

The staff were very helpful & most pleasant, the bar & restaurant a pleasure to visit, our dinner & breakfast very nice. The room was good & we would both stay here again & recommend it to others.

Only a couple of minor points of attention to detail, the wall mounted TV was crooked & the trunking holding the cables starting to pull away from the wall (it just looked slightly odd). The new wooden panels at the bottom of the french window doors were unpainted on the inside and the chair seat had a stain. However these are only very minor points and should only be taken as constructive criticism, they did not detract from our enjoyment of The Carpenters Arms.

Staff were all really friendly. Food was great and reasonably priced, we made use of free breakfast both days and it was lovely. Our room was just right for just the 2 of us and a small dog for 2 nights.

When I booked the room it said extra large double bed but the room we got was a standard double. The walls must be made of papier-mâché because we could hear our neighbours on the toilet next to us! Very unpleasant! They also woke us up being super loud at midnight and 1am, we had to bang on the wall and shout at them to shut up when they were making international phone calls on speaker phone in the toilet! They may aswell have been partying in our room with us for all the good the wall made.

Choice of breakfast was fab, staff were very friendly and catered to all our needs, even gave us milk for the little one. We had a slight hiccup in one of the rooms on the second night and the owner (who only took over the pub 23 days prior bless him) was quick to respond and made sure we were relocated to another room with everything we needed. We had a surprised 30th for my sister and again, staff were very helpful, food was incredible and choice of drinks was vast.

The floor could do with a good mop, babies got filthy sitting in the floor playing with their toys but other than that, we enjoyed everything.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Carpenters Arms! The property was clean, beautifully decorated, and exactly as described in the listing. The location was perfect, with easy access to attractions, or conveniences, making it ideal for both relaxation and exploration. Staff were incredibly hospitable, quick to respond to any questions, and provided thoughtful touches like shampoo and conditioner, as well as tea and coffee. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept so well during my stay! I truly felt at home, and appreciated how much care was put into our stay.

Lovely setting and a well organised setup. Breakfast included offered good choice and well presented food although it included just one small cup of coffee. Staff were friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable though a bit cramped and the television came on unexpectedly several times during the night?

Food and drink prices were higher than we had paid in Devon and Cornwall and, in league with our experience in the Cotswolds, made more expensive by the 'optional' 10% service charge.

There is a lovely little bar area and the main room (restaurant) is beautifully set out / decorated and I loved the fairy lights on the beams. Food is fab, we sampled breakfast and evening meals. The rooms are outside, opposite the pub (within the grounds) a good size and are clean, we were comfortable relaxing there before our evening meal. Staff were amazing, helpful, polite, always asking if we needed anything. We would def stay again and would recommend. The rooms are like the pics on the website. Our first room looked bigger on the pics. A few minutes by car from Highclere Castle.

The room we booked was ensuite. The others were shared bathroom. I don't know if ours was the only ensuite but we weren't happy with it (room 4) The cleanliness was lacking and it was small with no proper hanging space for clothes and the bed was really low down.. The staff were lovely, very helpful and keen to sort this out for us. They sorted another room for us and we were very happy. I really can't praise the staff enough, they were much appreciated. If I were staying longer than a few days, some drawers in the room would be good. The only other minor thing was there were fans in the bedrooms that needed a dust.

The accommodation was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. Alex is very passionate about creating a fun ,relaxing environment with excellent service and exceptional food. Chef Holly and her team prepare and serve mouthwatering dishes with lovely presentation. Perfect fish and chips and delectable meat pies and deserts that are out of this world! Great location and lots of parking. Highly recommend!

We had 3 rooms in the annex, all were en-suite and comfortable. Staff were amazingly helpful and were very helpful though we were a little bit late. In the morning a short walk across the car park to the main dining area and more excellent service for our delicious breakfast. We were staying close to Highclere for a visit there but I did notice the Sir Stanley Spencer chapel is only over the road so I will return to look at that. My only lower point for facilities was because I did not access the wifi - I wasn't sure if it was available in my room - as I was late arriving I was straight to bed and sleep so I didn't care that much and we were off promptly in the morning for our Castle visit. We were obliged by commitments to eat supper elsewhere, but I wish we had been able to use the pub dining and bar in the evening before we slept here. It looked very welcoming.

Not the properties fault, but a top tip - Using the postcode my sat-nav took us to the entry slip road of the A34 leading away from the property which was super inconvenient. Use the proper address, as The Carpenters Arms is easy to find in the village.

The accommodation is in a cottage next to the pub. The rooms and ambience there are lovely. They also give snacks.

It was all lovely there was just a little wet patch on the carpet outside the bathroom everything else was perfect. Hot towel rail at night and I think in the morning. The service in the restaurant was slow at times but faster on the second day. Breakfast choices great and generous portion size though a little dry at times. Drinks and evening meals were excellent. Location amazing but inadequate bus service means using taxis.
