Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient, on the reception, bar and breakfast time. Room was clean. Food was lovely and plenty of breakfast choice. All communal areas were very clean. Spa was clean, enjoyed all facilities except the steam which was very hot and apparently broken. Showers were adjustable. Over all stay was great and would recommend and stay again.

I got a text at 8pm the night before asking what time i was checking out the next day. Was quite upset. Why would you do that when you have already given customers a check out time? It disturbed my night, and I kept getting agitated, having received it. It felt like we have had your money now go away as soon as possible. You need to drop this automated text. No plug near the mirror to be able to see your hair while using the hairdryer. Room 411 window whistled in wind when we closed it. Both mentioned to recepti0n when we checked out at 10:55. Also distributed by Hackney air conditioning units under window if we had the window open. Sorry one extra bug bear of mine, please put mugs in rooms or at least make them available. Haha.

Great refurbished old building. Good breakfast, easy parking, but I am not so happy that hotels charge you to park when you are a paying guest.

Odd location, not near any other hotels. Walk around the area is not the greatest as it is next to derelict buildings but a short walk by the canal to the edge of town and then a short walk down a single street to the heart of this small city. Hotel is split in half by the canal with main building and restaurant/bar on the main side and gym/spa across an indoor foot bridge. All have easy access via the lifts. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms very comfortable, if a bit dated. Very clean. Overall a nice peaceful stay

We stayed two nights, but as it was raining both evenings we decided to eat in the restaurant which was very quiet. The menu both nights was identical with limited choices which was a disappointment, especially on the second night

Breakfast time options are provided at check in and the reception staff were very helpful and gave useful information and help. Breakfast was plentiful and the room was nice. Clean and tidy and food was good and staff friendly and attentive. Hotel location is very central with lots of options nearby for sundry items and the high street and other places to eat and visit etc. car park is adjacent to the hotel and paid for when you check in.

The rooms had no drawers for basic privacy on a longer than a few days stay. Wine prices are expensive but the bar is very good and has lots of options and seating and external seating to be fair.

We had a lovely room over looking the canal towels were replaced everyday and the bed made which you don't always get from other hotels. Dinning room staff were very accommodating as i like poached eggs.Staff members even remembered how I liked my coffee. Hotel location was perfect as we didn't want to drive any where we wanted to use public transport, bus station was a very short walk also the train station. Would defiantly stay again.

The only thing I would say is the floor under the bed needs an hoover and maybe some air conditioning because the fan wasn't particularly clean.

We stayed in a deluxe canal view room. The room was gorgeous and very spacious with a sofa and desk on one side, and huge bed to the other. We ate elsewhere, however had a few drinks in the bar before heading to our room for the night, great choice of drinks and good value, the bar had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant for breakfast was lovely, food fresh and hot. The bed and shower were brilliant, and I have to say the curtains really worked, the room was blackout when closed. We had access to the swimming pool, however we didn’t know this until we came and checked in so weren’t able to use it as we had no costumes and none in local shops. Brilliant stay and have already said we would stay again.

The staff are amazing... so welcoming. Breakfast was brilliant, the location for a short walk to town or to get a bus was great, the bar staff were lovely and food was served all afternoon (possibly all day) which meant you could eat when you wanted. Great for jet lagged visitors. My family room was a generous size so 2 kids and I didn't constantly fall over each other and the canal view is nice. Plenty of storage space.

My only negative comment, mentioned lightly and only because booking. com is asking, would be the bathroom paint and base of bathroom door show water damage from people showering in the narrow bath with shower curtain on the inside. As this leaves very little room, the shower curtain goes to the out side of the bath and water floods the floor.

The staff were all beyond courteous, understanding and kind and Caroline on reception went above and beyond during our stay I loved the location of the hotel I loved the decor of the hotel and all of the facilities The food was lovely at all times Parking was close by, always a plus !

I didn't feel that the lift work as well as it should be in the annex block as we were kept waiting whilst it decided where it wanted to go; lots of guests had the same problem I didn't like the small coffee cups in the room, more like a shot of coffee so room for improvement there Usually hotels like this have ironing facilities in the room The bathroom lacked a towel rail although there were a couple of hooks on the back of the door The room we stayed in could have brighter lighting, it was quite dark and the main area was only lit up by two lamps

Great location for city, trains, bus and local attractions by car. (parking extra but worth it for a space and security) Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very clean and comfortable room, small but to pay the extra we happily managed to adapt to save money. We used the spa/pool facilities and I enjoyed a massage during the stay too. Breakfast was lovely and plenty of options. Dining staff were great and looked after us well. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

The only thing I can think of was the lights above the bed. They were very bright and no option to dim. Would have been good to have a bedside light of some sort as an extra option.

Cleanliness, modern, comfort, all staff, localle, and Spa facillities. Breakfast was good as you would expect, no better or worse, breakfast staff were excellent. Hotel car parking.

We were assigned room 315 (slightly dated) which was right next to the stairs and during the night we were woken by males swearing whilst walking up and down them which is not what you want. This admittedly was not any fault of the hotel but this didn't help us. Another dislike was the mattress, it felt solid with no "spring", the actual pillows were very clean inside the cases though (big plus from me as this is the first thing I check as we have had some real brown sweat ones in the past). There was no fridge or safe in the room. The hotel also does have multi person parties as we saw, bride etc.
