The location is beautiful, just loved Sheildaig! This was my favourite location over the seven locations I stayed whilst doing the NC500, Scourie being a close second! The room was a little tired, but very clean and nicely kitted out, good sized single room and a bath in the ensuite, which I loved! Very dog friendly, the only place dogs not allowed was the restaurant, though they do have a bar were you can take dogs and eat. This was one place that I was so sad that I couldn't get out to eat in the evening, being a solo traveller with two dogs made getting out in the evenings really difficult as one (after a prior bad experience with another dog, is not too good around other dogs). Exceptional reviews from other guests who had eaten there in the evening. Breakfast was exceptional, great choice , and I had the most perfectly poached eggs with my smoked salmon for breakfast . The waitress was just a delight, friendly, pleasant and super helpfull. Would highly recommend both accommodation and location. Note, there was no TV in the room I stayed, this didn't bother me in the least. Just loved the tranquility and beauty of the place.

Nothing to dislike.

The location is sublime and the interior has been decorated beautifully to reflect its location. The bedroom was simple but elegant, as were all the public rooms, the latter making lovely cozy, comfortable areas to sit and unwind. We ate both nights in the bar and the food was really good. Breakfast surpassed itself: the buffet was delicious and the cooked was perfectly presented and delicious. Whoever cooks the eggs Isa MAESTRO! I had the best poached and the best scrambled I’ve ever eaten. Just perfect.

Nothing hit a wrong chord: the team are to be congratulated on their warmth and professionalism

The staff members were excellent; very welcoming and accommodating. Service and food in the restaurant was great and plentiful. Loved that there were a few sitting rooms and an honour bar to utilize. The view was absolutely stunning.

The hotel is older, which is fine, it has character. It does need some updating and some love. The hallways are very squeaky and noisy; we were grateful that other guests went to bed the same time as our family because it could have been hard to sleep. Our bathroom ceiling had mould. The carpet had a big stain which was wet (maybe tried to clean something?) It is expensive imo, especially with these drawbacks. But! This was a hard review to write because I want to give it a ten as we enjoyed the area so much. And, again, the staff were really great.

I cant say enough Thank you to hosts Liam & Christina for their hospitality. I been rescued from mountain and they been aware of my situation. So they prepared for me their big warm room with bath despite I book only small. I felt like Im home visit my family. Christina made super delicious breakfast for me and we had great chat. Room was super clean with shampoo, soaps, lots of teas, hot chocolate even biscuits. Shieldaig is beautiful calm village. Defo recommended for everyone staying in this super cosy Hotel . Lucy

Location, dinner at night

the waiter in the evening who seemed to make a lot of noise jumping and running about during service. Breakfast service lacked a bit of customer attention, no orange juice, no mil out. The server was very nice indeed it just seemed a bit disjointed. No Loch Torridon Langoustines as sold out by 730pm service! as it's in your door step, would have expected availability here.

Location was fantastic, views stunning, food was excellent as well, breakfast was top notch, with good choice & variety.

I booked through booking.com, when I tried to leave a message it wasn’t answered, so tried email again not answered, so tried to phone, and that took several times of trying, but this improved closer to the date of stay, so maybe the hotel was in the process of changing hands.

The location and the view from the hotel was wonderful. It is also close the amazing surroundings. Inside we loved the room: the comfy beds, hot shower, the cozy interior. Another big bonus: the friendly staff and the breakfast. Also the other guests were really nice.

The rooms are not 100% soundproof. But it did not bother us, because it was in general really quite in the hotel :)

I chose a single room, and in doing so was expecting a little bed that I couldn't fit into (being closer to 7ft than 6). To my surprise, however, it was more than adequate. The room was spacious enough for the dog and I and was also surprisingly quiet. Breakfast was brilliant and not being an eater of pork, I do appreciate the fish options. The girls all were exceptional at their job while I was there, and made a man and his dog feel very welcome. For the area alone it is worth the price I paid, but the service at the hotel was a welcomed bonus. I stayed an extra night on top of this (which was £10 cheaper because I booked directly through the hotel)

Putting the dog in the car whilst I had breakfast was a bit of an inconvenience, but I understand that having breakfast with someone else's dog in the room may be an inconvenience for other guests

Lovely location. Plenty of parking on the street close to the hotel. Room was comfortable, nicely decorated and had everything I needed. Ate in the restaurant and food was delicious. Staff were all very welcoming.

Only slight issue was that I arrived quite late and there was no-one around to help with checking in but easily solved by popping next door to the restaurant.

I really appreciate having a lovely bath In my en suite; I really enjoy my good bath. So many hotels only provide showers these days, which are utilitarian, but no more!

STILL no real ale in the bar. But dinner and breakfast were good - though no smoked haddock for breakfast The charge for B&B is excessive as there is no TV or radio. I watched TV on my At least the WiFi works!
