Wonderful traditional Japanese Ryokan experience Situated across from the cable car at the far end of Kinosaki Onsen but there is a shuttle bus from the station for check in and it’s really an easy walk to the station out on your last day. Wonderful banquets for dinner and a lavish Japanese style breakfast one morning we stayed and a simpler but delightful western breakfast on the other day. Situated just around the corner from the best Onsen (public spa baths) in town and right next door to the second best Staff lovely and friendly and welcoming

Not a criticism but Be aware there are no toilets and showers in most rooms. You use the shared toilets and the private hot spa bath in the hotel or the public baths. This is all part of the experience so embrace it. You sleep on the floor on Futons and these and the pillows could be a bit softer would be my only feedback

Excellent location, close to 2 public baths Very good ryokan experience with guide on how to wear yukata and even provide you with the clogs! Initial location is a little far to get from the main train station but there is a bus service. But walking back to the station from the ryokan is still doable. The breakfast is amazing as they give you breakfast at another establishment. Dinner is absolutely one of the best experience! Japanese snow crab is very wonderfully made.

Our stay at Tsuruya Ryokan was truly exceptional. Centrally located within Kinosaki Onsen within walking distance of the majority of Onsen's and shops in the town. Right across the street from Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway. The rooms were traditional Japanese rooms with good amounts of space. Resort was very quiet and the beds were very comfortable. The private onsens in the resort were also a great experience and allowed for a truly private onsen experience compared to the public baths. The truly exceptional part of this stay had to be the food however. The provided breakfasts and dinners were absolutely amazing. The amount of meat and fish was exceptional, the food tasted amazing and the menu creation was great. The whole experience was one of a kind. The staff were always welcoming and made us feel at home each time we stepped into the resort. I would highly recommend Tsuruya Ryokan to anyone looking for a truly exceptional Onsen and food experience while in Kinosaki Onsen. We cannot wait to come back and visit Tsuruya Ryokan again in the near future!

Wonderful way to stay in Kinosaki onsen town! As a group of two, the family room was huge. The stay itself was a whole experience, and the staff were great at explaining everything. Included in the stay was a yukata set (three piece robe), wooden base, and wooden sandals to wear to the onsen. Dinner was fabulous crab feast with many courses we could barely finish it all! Also included in the stay was a nice western breakfast and an onsen egg making experience. They also have their own private onsen that you can book for 40 min.

The sink in our room had no hot water, which made it hard to get ready in the morning. The room was also pretty cold, but they provided a space heater which did an amazing job. The ryokan was further in from the town, but close to three of the seven onsens.

Reasonable price for breakfast and dinner. The location was not the closest but still convenient where it was close to two public onsens and restaurants. After getting out from the train station we decided to walk to the hotel which was very doable plus on the way there were many shops to check out! Staff was very nice and our room was spacious. I really enjoyed just chilling inside their traditional Japanese room. For those who are not comfortable to share bath with others, Tsuruya have their bath by reservation. You don't have to share with other people and only enjoy with your family!

Good location - at the far end of town, so a little out the way if you need to walk, but close to the cable way and a nice pretty quiet part of town. Private onsen was great. Staff were very friendly - although no-one could really talk English, but they tried. In general it was very clean, quiet and as described.

The dinners were nice, but pretty much the same - woudl have been nice to get variation, and not the same either such or foods that you cook yourself. Vegetarian options are basically non-existent. if you only eat fish be prepared for a LOT of crab. They locked the doors at a certain time each night which I didn't like, I think it was 22h30 or 323h00 - we should be able to stay out as late as we need to. Pillows are made from pebbles I think - so be prepared for a different sleep, not easy to get used to.

Great location, less traffic and close to 3 great onsen, the onsen temple and the walk or ropeway up Mt Daishi. Breakfast was good both mornings of our trip. We weren’t specific enough in advising food restrictions in advance but the staff did an amazing job to serve the meals and help us for the second nights menu.

There was a window with a light that could not be turned off at night and no shade/curtain to block it out. Otherwise the room was comfortable and provided all we needed.

Great basic place to stay in a great location for Onsen. On our second night we had a larger room with private bathroom and it was great. The traditional Japanese dinner totally exceeded my expectations - the staff were so attentive and explained everything so wonderfully. It was an amazing experience. They were very kind and accommodating for me as a vegetarian, which I really appreciated as this was not the case in other ryokans we stayed in. They give you a sheet to tick any food groups you cannot eat on arrival to make sure they can cater for your dietary requirements.

The room we had on the first night was a bit small, so I recommend booking a larger room with private bathroom. Would be nice to have a lamp for nice lighting. The breakfast served at a cafe across the road was not great. It would be nice if they could serve a Japanese breakfast at the ryokan, even if just something simple.

The staff were exceptional. The gentleman who showed us around the place and explained how everything worked was a gem - spoke very good English, and even sang a traditional wedding song for us after learning it was our anniversary. Dinner was delicious (and huge!) and we were attended to very, very well. For our first stay in a ryokan, it was a great one. We loved the traditional style rooms and there's nothing better than strolling around Kinosaki in your yukata. The private bath was also great - very hot, but it was just what we needed after a full week of sightseeing in Tokyo.

The guests in the room next to us were up well past 1am being very loud- I'm glad they were having a good time, but some of us were trying to sleep by that hour. I also wasn't sold on the pillows - extraordinarily stiff.

Good location with free parking. Onsen within facility is private. Provision of bath pass for public bath is a plus.

Has to return to the property by 2300h. While booking the property, the photo of the property seemed to suggest that the dinner would serve both beef and crab. Turns out it is dependent on luck, as beef and crab are served on alternate days. Do check with property before making booking.
