The Allanton Inn rightly prides itself on the wide variety of local produce it uses in its cuisine. Not only is the food varied and delicious, but they also make a point of promoting the many farms and businesses which supply their ingredients, which is admirable. Add to this a comfortable, well-appointed room and a beer garden with glorious views over the Borders countryside, and you have a top-quality stay. Highly recommended.

Lovely country pub, the place was easy to find and parking was easy. The pub has a nice atmosphere and quite quaint, with access to the rooms from the pub and directly from the roadside. The room was spacious and comfortable, the toilet area was clean and well appointed with nice toiletries and fluffy towels. There was very little passing traffic so the room was quiet even though it faced the road. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which was very busy with locals, the meal was delicious and good value for money. Next day Breakfast was served between 8 and 9.30. Lots of choice for breakfast with boxed cereal, muesli, yogurt, juice and preserves in plentiful supply and a cooked breakfast with tea/ coffee to follow - would absolutely recommend for all of the above reasons.

The bed !! I did not find the bed comfortable, so sleep quality was not the best. The bed was clean and the linen fresh and cosy, but the mattress really needs an upgrade.

From the minute of arrival till leaving the following morning, the Allanton Inn went above and beyond with anything that they could do to help with the stay ,from staff, service, very friendly and the food was unbelievable. I would seriously consider the 2hour drive to get a chance for another plateful lol. Room was clean, full place is clean, warm and comfy and the beer was even better.. definitely a hidden gem for sure and if a could give more than 10/10 a would.. definitely be there again..

Rooms are on the road, but an extremely quiet road!

An old inn set in a beautiful location. Really liked that there was a separate door to use that took you straight up to the rooms which meant you didn’t need to go through the bar. The rooms were warm and clean and had everything you needed. Our room was situated at the back of the property so looked out on views across the fields. Breakfast was really lovely too with lots of choice 😊

We were only there 1 night, but has dinner and breakfast. Both meals were the best. Our family rank the meals, rooms, restrooms and staff. The meals at the Allanton stayed at the top of our list the whole trip. If you are looking to get away in a nice cozy atmosphere with service and food. Allanton is the place for you.

We loved everything about The Allanton Inn. The room was lovely, absolutely immaculate and everything was provided including good quality products in the bathroom. Very comfortable bed. The breakfast and dinner were exceptional. The food was well prepared and cooked using mainly local ingredients.

The property has a real charm about it , as the furnishings are beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and the en-suite had a really great shower. Every kind of toiletry is provided and the owners were extremely helpful - even going out of their way to phone us to see if we would require dinner as we were held up at the airport and had got lost!. Thanks to them and their directions we arrived safely at the property. The breakfast was delicious and varied for every taste. We would definitely return.

Lovely big room, huge bed and great shower.

The staff are fantastic. The owners are hands on and we had a great night chatting to them and the other staff. It’s definitely a family business who use locally sourced produce. Food was some of the best we have had in a local pub. All homemade and freshly prepared using ingredients from within the local farming community. Breakfast was outstanding, especially the homemade granola👍we’ll be back, simply to try their pizza shack open during the summer in vast beer garden.
