We loved having waves Nakameguro as our home base for the first half of our trip in Tokyo. It had fewer amenities than most hotels we stayed in, but having such a large room (I think we were in room 8) was a huge bonus. The shower room was a little awkward to share with so many other people, however if we had another long stay in Tokyo we would certainly use waves again. The staff were lifesaving!! I had a mistake where I sent my luggage to the wrong place using takyubin, and the staff at waves called the location for me and handled my mistake. I was so grateful for them.
We found the shared bathrooms a bit awkward, however it was worth it for the size of our room and the location. We made sure to wake up slightly earlier than others so we could get showers before heading out in the morning!

The location was fantastic - so easy to get to all tourist sites on the south and west sides of Tokyo. The neighborhood itself was really walkable and had great restaurants and shops which we defaulted to when tired at the end of the day. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was nice and unexpected to have refidgerator space to keep our water bottles cold in the hot summer. I loved the open common space to hang out in while others are sleeping. Other reviews noted noise from the subway. While I heard it when I listened, it never would have disturbed me. It was a get set up for a family of 4 (two teens) who did not need a fancy hotel or concierge.
Walk up 3 stories in unaircontioned stairwell... although it did make walking into AC much sweeter.

great little hostel/hotel in nakameguro - which is a fantastic area in tokyo. really quick and easy to get to daikan-yama, harajuku, shinjuku and shibuya. the staff were so lovely, helpful, and quick to reply via message, helping with a delivery i had, laundry and more!!
just be aware that there are 3 flights of stairs to climb to get to the hotel. there are also shared bathrooms / communal areas - so it’s more like an upmarket hostel than a hotel.

The rooms were large and comfortable. The living area was also great. Seven rooms face onto the living/kitchen area. Four on the train station side and three on the street side. The four larger rooms are on the station side. The train is a little noisy closest to one end (room 5), but bearable. If you have concerns, wear earplugs. The living area can sometimes be a little noisy but generally people are considerate. There are two showers, two men’s and two women’s toilets. They are adequate, but if there are lots of people there’s sometimes a wait for the showers. The kitchen provides shelves in refrigerators for each room. There is a microwave, toaster, jug and hotplate. The kitchen is kept clean. It could possibly do with some towels for wiping dishes and the drying rack needs replacing as the drying tray is rusted out. The area is lovely and there is a great supermarket, excellent bakery and lots of restaurants. The Isakaya across the road, specialises in clams and is wonderful. The Waves is obviously very close to the station so it’s very easy to get anywhere. Staff were pleasant and we especially found Naoki to be very pleasant and helpful! This was the perfect place for our small group to stay and we highly recommend it.
Some areas need a deep clean, but generally it’s okay.

Close to the station with a line that had easy access to all the big spots (Shibuya, Shinjuku etc). Lots of restaurants etc around too, cute little area (but much less touristy and busy) Having a private room was great for the price! Shared bathrooms were clean + tidy, great to have a hairdryer and shampoo conditioner etc. Nice vibes and interior.
Maybe could have been nice if there was more socialisation in the common area but maybe we were just there at a more quiet time.

Waves nakameguro offers nice rooms and nice shared spaces. The location is in a very nice neighbourhood of Tokyo, with many restaurants and cafes around, and close to the metro station to go visit the rest of the city.
There are no private bathrooms (only shared), which is no problem per se but good to know in advance. It can get quite noisy as it is in a go-out night life area and is next to the metro station with trains passing (especially the rooms on the side closest to the railways). However, overall it is a good place in a strategic position to visit Tokyo!

Great location very close to the train station and lots of food options around, with a nice grocery store close by. Unfortunately most places were were trying to go such as shinjuku, there was a transfer involved, but it was still well connected while being in a quieter part of the city
close to trains station, so you could hear the trains going by. No elevator going up to the hotel, so a bit of a climb

Really well located, close to metro station, supermarkets and restaurants, nice neighborhood. Easily accessible. Staff were really nice. The place was clean and quiet with nice shared rooms.
The hotel is on the 2nd floor without elevator. Which can be a bit annoying with big suitcases. Train is very close and the rooms facing the tracks can be noisy.

We loved the location! In a really nice area with plenty of restaurants/cafes right on the door step. Also very convenient on the metro - only one stop to Shibuya. Bed was very comfy, kitchen space useful - even though we only used it for toast! Shared bathroom was never a problem while we stayed. Would happily go back.

The room was spacious, and the bed meticulously clean. The staff attentively managed my luggage, providing service that was both friendly and efficient. The hotel maintained a serene atmosphere, complemented by its interesting minimalist decor. Its prime location adjacent to the train station enhances its appeal, coupled with pricing that is exceptionally fair.
I wish the hotel wasn't located on the third floor without an elevator. Carrying my bags up was a challenge.
