The room is huge, size and highwise, and very homely with wood, big windows, table and comfortable bed. Also the bathroom is spacious and equipped with soap, showergel-shampoo, towels, hairdryer, 2 glasses and a chair. Wifi works, you’ll be told the password at check-in. The night was good and it was lovely to open the windows to the birds singing! Breakfast was a buffet with good choice, the cheeses and meats were fresh, the eggs were exceptional (the man at the reception assured me there were fresh bio eggs from a nearby farm) and there were fresh fruits like strawberries and watermelons, fruit salad and nuts with three different types of yoghurt. The coffee machine gave plenty of options of delicious hot drinks and there was orange juice and multivitamin juice alongside with milk and water available. The inner city of Passau is only 10 minutes drive away (or 20 if you want to avoid the steep hill) and the nearest and cheapest fuel station is on the austrian side about 5 minutes past some amazing countryside views! The price including breakfast is reasonable.

The way up to the Hotel over Mariahilf is very very steep, so be aware of that when you choose your route to get there. There is no lift, and no hotel rooms in the ground floor so even though the restaurant has a disability toilet and eating in the restaurant / beergarden is disability friendly, staying over night in the hotel is not. I‘d recommend it even though thanks to the lack of disability friendly facilities we unfortunately don’t expect to be back.

The hotel is located at a very convenient place for us, at the border of Germany and Austria. Room is very spacious, bed is comfortable. Provided a nice cot for our son. The interior is like in an old castle. We liked it a lot. Breakfast was delicious, plenty.

Evrerything was fine. The only small exception is the image of a half-naked woman on the mirror in the men's bathroom on the ground floor. Why is it needed in 2024? The clientele is probably not 14 anymore.

check in pleasant, parking perfect and free, second floor room was spacious and glorious with the windows open to the sounds of the countryside. No lift but a great bloke from the kitchen carried our bags upstairs. breakfast was wonderful and the dining room quaint.

I guess a lift would be good but it would also spoil the old world charm of the property

The hotel is beautifully appointed, full of character, in a beautiful location with super friendly staff, everything immaculate and super clean , comfortable bed, warm room ( it was chilly and raining) and excellent traditional cuisine restaurant. Superb.

No lift and stairs are steep- but this is understandable as it is an old hunting lodge/ castle. Don’t let it put you off- the climb is worth it!

I liked the fact that this hotel is unique and not like any other one in a dozen type of hotel. Spacious room and clean. Very friendly staff. . Good breakfast, not exaggerated, just right. It was a warm day, we had a a cool beer and a nice meal in the beergarten under the trees. Perfect!

Good sized room, friendly staff & nice continental breakfast. Nice, quiet location too, with a 35 minute, (downhill), walk into town and free parking.

Was sold as being air conditioned but only had a large, very noisy tower fan on the floor, circulating the air and not air conditioning, so the room was quite warm & the fan made it difficult to sleep.

We love this Hotel. Situated in a forest. Lovely setting and garden. Beautiful large rooms. We loved the breakfast and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Hotels Restaurant. It's a bit far from the City centre but with a car no problem.

When we arrived, Julia was a great host, not only on the reception, where she gave us all necessary information, but also at the dinner, keeping an eye over the happening inside and in the "Biergarten ".

The city of Passau is very far, so there is no way you can walk somewhere else to eat. There was no WiFi outside the room and additionally no mobile network, because the place is truly on the Austrian German border.

Morning check out was delayed as no one was initially available to check us out, making for a delay while we had to get to Munich airport for a flight.

The hotel is in a beautiful location high up from the city. The service and quality are excellent and very friendly. The hotel is beautifully decorated and is also used for weddings. It was lovely to sit outside to enjoy local menu selections.

It is not easy to arrive at the hotel if you do not have a car. Generally, the K1 bus comes once an hour. If you walk, it would take about 30- 40 min.
