The hotel is in a very beautiful, fairly secluded location which is nice and the design is great - very british with a few quirks. Our room was good and 'the pantry' was a nice touch! We also loved the spa and used most of the options available to us. Our treatments were excellent! Lastly, we ate at YU and it was absolutely delicious.

It's not so much a 'not like' but the service quality from the staff could definitely be better when considering how much a stay costs and the standard that the hotel gives off. The staff are friendly, but they just seem to lack confidence in what they're doing and I honestly think a bit more experience and discussion around this would do wonders for the overall sense of the hotel.

The location was stunning, so picturesque. The hotel itself had lots of lovely little quirks that made our stay - e.g. designated walking guides, free snacks, games in the bar and an amazing piano performance. The staff were very hospitable as well.

Nothing - it was fantastic. I’d recommend booking the restaurant and any treatments in advance though as they book up quickly! If getting a taxi to the location from Newbury station, also expect to pay a hefty fee. We paid £34 for an 11 minute taxi. Didn’t spoil our stay though.

Lovely location, friendly staff, range of facilities, pretty garden, very good food and good value.

A few details: there's no need for a loud pianist next to a restaurant when everyone is trying to talk. This also prevented conversation in the bar. One father was trying to play a board game with his child and it was a struggle because of the need to shout. My husband wears hearing aids and it was a nightmare for him. The other things were tiny - nowhere to leave used teabags, no loo brush and extractor didn't work in the bathroom.

Very tastefully and practically decorated. Lovely staff. Very relaxed, home from home atmosphere. Amazing breakfast and really good food all round. The Atlas room or lounge is really chilled and a great place for drinks and/or nibbles. Very dog friendly hotel

It was difficult to get information about the facilities available and how to or where to find them. Particularly it was hard to get any info about breakfast. There was only some onscreen info on the tv about the hotel, a room service menu but no info about how to order room service, timings or indeed any info about breakfast or meal times. There was only a number for reception but there was no answer after 9:40pm and no other printed information in our room.

The hotel is beautiful, with well-furnished and spacious bedrooms, lovely grounds, and comfortable public areas. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. My friends and I ate in Yu restaurant, which was delicious, and we all used the spa. A couple of us booked treatments, which were great. The breakfasts were also reasonably priced with a good selection. Highly recommended.

The room I was in for the first night became unbearably noisy first thing in the morning, as it seemed to be above the power room for the spa. I requested a change of room which was done swiftly and with no hassle at all, which I really appreciated. Personally, I think that a stay in a higher-end hotel should never require you to use ear plugs (especially in the countryside), and so rooms like these which have unfixable problems should not be sold.

The staff were excellent throughout the hotel-from Jeanette on the front desk to Lucy in the restaurant, the gardeners, the cleaning staff -all exceptional. The food was great and the bar sensibly priced. It is a trip quality hotel with great facilities and a real sense that you are bing well looked after. And it was the best breakfast I've ver had at a hotel.

Literally only one thing I can think of: lose the fake flowers around the entrance door.

Great location, luxury hotel, lovely decor, relaxing spa and outdoor pool, lots of personal touches. Food and wine delicious, although pricey! The scenery of trees and surrounding hotel garden gave a tranquil atmosphere to the place. Would love to re-visit sometime.

Our stay was for leisure, as my sister and I wanted a relaxing break away together. However, my only criticism was the amount of business/corporate clients and the fact that at one point I counted 7 separate people working solely on lap tops and other groups of people holding business meetings in the main lounge area. It was disappointing and this affected our enjoyment of sitting in the lounge to relax. Maybe a separate room could be allocated for those who were doing office work?

We had the Sutton Suite for two nights. We were on honeymoon. The room was spacious and comfortable.

1. Containers for tea too small. 2. No bubble bath for the bath. 3. Breakfast was brought up to the room but was almost cold. 4. TV had very poor reception making it impossible to watch (would have been nice to see some of the olympics). 5. No loo brush in bathroom. 6. The breakfast things were never cleared away despite asking for them to be cleared on three separate occasions. Having paid the thick end of £950 for two nights, we expected better.

So an initially really poor impression. Meal not served, a bartender who ‘short served’ my drink! However, a superb recovery from the management who served me a replacement drink and brought my meal to my room. And charged me for neither! Having worked in a customer facing environment for many years, mistakes happen! It is then the appreciation of a mistake and reparations which leaves the lasting feeling! So 10/10 for those who sorted out my evening. Would I go there again? Would I recommend it to others? Absolutely! A beautiful location with lots to offer and a management team who make things work for the customer!! Well done all! Dr, the Councillor, Past Lord Mayor of the City of Westminster.

All sorted!

It was very peaceful and quiet even though there were a few events going on. We loved the yard and coffee shop, fab cakes! Outdoor heated pool was amazing and gorgeous in the sun. The spa staff went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable for my treatment after I told them I’m in the middle of chemotherapy.

The afternoon tea lacked a bit, we were told extra sandwiches would be extra whereas most places with afternoon these days give free refills of sandwiches. There also wasn’t enough cream as jam for 4 scones. The cakes were ok but not the tastiest. The spa is beautiful, I recently slipped in a pool area though where the floor was wet, I noticed today (Sunday 21st April) the floor was really soaking wet in the inside pool area, it made me feel a bit worried walking around.
