Located in a perfect location within walking distance of a number of eating establishments Breakfast and staff were extremely helpful. Had a room on the top floor with a vertical spiral staircase. Ask for this room. Provided parking which was also a plus. The rate should have been higher as one could not ask for more. Would have paid more without a second thought.

Great room, superb king sized bed, quality linen and pillows, excellent shower, lovely old fashioned look but still modern kettle, DAB radio, very nice room, warm too.. TV was good with all channels and netflix, amazon prime etc. The breakfast was outstanding. Shiralee was very kind and lovely as we arrived in xmas day itself. Another reason I booked the property was access to the swimming pool, but it was closed. This is clearly due to the xmas period and not the fault of the property, but its a positive.

Rooms 4 & 5 are on the 2nd floor (we had room 4), and there was a spiral staircase, which meant we could not take our luggage upstairs. This was NOT mentioned (I read the booking description several times) and if I had known, I would not have booked this room. It should have been mentioned, or support to take luggage upstairs for guests should be provided. The other rooms on the first floor looked great and would have greatly enhanced our stay. Anyway, we managed.. and it was "an experience". The other thing is that the breakfast room was freezing, due to just one small radiator in the room. I know another radiator is coming, but an electric heater could have been provided in the interim.

From the moment we arrived at Glencree we couldnt have been happier. Brilliant location, pretty much in between Windermere and Bowness and easy walking to both. Really easy check-in, we had been text the door access codes before our arrival, small carpark at the front of the property so no problem with parking either. Room was beautifully presented, we were right at the top of the building with a quirky spiral staircase..a huge bed which was so comfortable, everything we needed was right there, including a handy little fridge. Ian the owner was fantastic, super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was superb, we just preordered the night before...plenty of choice and everything was quality produce 👍 As you can tell we had the best of stays..thanks again Ian - we will def be back 👍

It had everything you need, all been thought out well with little touches, mod tech, such as spotlights you could control and tv that came out from the wall, nice toiletries, comfy bed, literally everything has been thought out well. also good location also Ian was very attentive and breakfast was lovely so thanks for a great stay!

It was fine for us but the spiral staircase to our room maybe difficult for some as it is narrow and after climbing first flight of stairs and then having to go up these with a few bags of luggage it could be a lot for some even we were little tired after a long day of walking places but you cannot fault the place of the host Ian!

We really enjoyed our stay here, Shiralee made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived.. she also cooks a delicious English breakfast!! Will definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

The room was decorated to a high standard, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Great shower, and the toiletries supplied were lush. Breakfast was delicious, and the full English cooked to perfection. Ian was a fab host and extremely helpful and accommodating. The location was superb, and we loved Bowness village for the views, lake, and eateries. We had a great time and would highly recommend it.

2 tiny niggles. The spiral staircase was awkward carrying luggage to the room but otherwise we had no issue. Time chosen for breakfast, this means the specific time your cooked food is coming to your table. You need to factor in a good 15 mins before this if you're going to eat your cereal/fruit/yoghurt first. Otherwise, you will have your cooked food in front of you while holding your bowl of cereals.

- The host, Ian, was amazing—always available, cleaning, and serving breakfast. We could message him anytime we needed. - The entire place was spotless, with a cleanliness rating of 10/10. - The bathroom was well-equipped with separate sinks, a toilet seat that cleaned you, and a beautiful big shower. - The bed was comfy, and the bedroom had a soft, clean carpet. - Breakfast was effortless and delicious, featuring a full English breakfast. - Check-in was simple and convenient with a code. - The innovative feature of ordering breakfast the night before on the iPad was clever. - Great location with convenient parking.

- The bathroom could use an extractor fan as the walls were wet after showers. - The pillows were a bit too soft for our liking. - Neither of the two fridges worked properly, which was inconvenient during the hot weather. - The breakfast room was small and awkward, which led to some discomfort for guests, like a German family of three where the dad ended up sitting alone and a larger guest feeling like they were in the way. - When searching on Booking.com and using filters for properties with pools, this property comes up even though it doesn't have a pool. You can use a pool down the road, but this felt a bit random. I try my best to give a full rounded review and I hope this helps future stayers of Glencree.

Just back from our short stay at Glencree. Ian is a fantastic host, kept us informed on what we need on arrival and accommodated all my requests regarding room and food. Breakfast was exceptional, I'm gluten free and Ian provided everything I needed. The room was lovely, very clean and had a fantastic bathroom and shower. The toiletries from pure lakes were lovely too. The hotel is situated on the main road between Windermere and Bowness which was very convenient and an easy walk in either direction. Will definitely be going back. Thank you Ian for a fabulous stay.

Absolutely amazing, lovely room, view from the balcony was beautiful. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked, hot and served with a smile. Ian also had great local knowledge for any recommendations about where to go for a lovely walk or hike. Fridge, heater, fan, alarm clock, hairdryer, kettle, tea and coffee facilities were all in the room for what you needed/wanted. Only 10 minute walk into the centre of town and to the promenade of lake Windermere, with some beautiful buildings to see on the way too.

What a gem of a place this is, a real find in the heart of Windermere. We stayed in room 6, a small double but comfortable and had everything we needed. The host Liz was fantastic and produced a lovely breakfast each morning, nothing was too much trouble for her. This property is ideally placed half way between Windermere and bowness, just a 10 minute walk in either direction. Check out Baha in Windermere with a boho atmosphere and lovely pizza. The weather was rainy and cold ( not unusual for the area) but there are loads of bars, cafes and shops to shelter in. Fantastic short break in beautiful surroundings during twixmas.
