The location was really good for my purposes, and on a lovely street. I thought the breakfast bar was impressive, and the venue was incredibly generous with tea and coffee provision both in the room and in the communal area. The TV was good with a good amount of channels. I liked the open window and the view, and the toilet provisions. I was also pleasantly surprised that they supplied an ironing board.

The only issues I had was a) the sound of people at the bar late at night, starting with punters but extending to the staff shutting up quite late (and quite loudly - calling across the street to each other); and b) other guests coming back in the middle of the night and speaking in the room next door as if it was the middle of the day. It was a good job I had my wax earplugs - I had an important presentation to give the next morning! And c), it was an unusually hot weather, but there was no fan and no AC.

It was a lovely stay, central to Clifton and town centre. Comfortable room with a little food station at the end of the corridor to have cereal if you wanted for breakfast. We had a Sunday dinner down stairs in the bar area which was absolutely delicious. The staff were very kind and helpful. We stayed two nights. On Sunday there was a singer which was a plus.

There are a lot of steep stairs to get to our room but we only did it once or twice a day.

The location is great for the Clifton area of Bristol. The staff welcomed me. In the pub they found us a table for 5 of us to watch the England Semi-final with very short notice. The staff couldn't do enough. The room was great and comfortable, good shower, coffee and complimentary water. The pub below is lovely and it has a small theatre. You walk past the stage door to get to the rooms.

This was Ok for me, but for others it's worth noting there are a lot of stairs to access the rooms. Also no cooked breakfast option. There is help yourself cereal which was all I wanted and lots of cafes walking distance. There was a very small amount of noise from the pub at closing time, but England had just reached the final which doesn't happen every night!

The location was great. Our room was small but really nice, the bed was comfortable and we loved the fact that we could top up our coffee + milk everyday. There is a nice 'pantry' there available for us to use - which included having a bowl of cereal in the mornings and some bottled water. There was also access to an iron. Overall setup is great!

Might be a bit tricky finding the location of the rooms as they are above the bar. We went into the tavern to find out about the rooms and thankfully we were in the right place. We couldn't hear any noise from downstairs so no need to worry about that.

Location, staff and room itself were all lovely. Bathroom was great with great water pressure.

Seeing the fact that the pillows and duvet without the covers were covered in brown/yellow marks/stains. Not the most pleasant thing to see after you’ve just slept in them.

I loved the place, it's history and the general vibe. Location is excellent and I'll definitely stay again. I didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but no reason I wouldn't eat there next time.

There is a damp musty smell in the lower stairwell but don't be put off, as you get upstairs is clean, bright and comforable.

It was a super nice place, the pub was lovely food was great and the room was really cute, with a lovely hot shower!

The internet was a little hit and miss but not the end of the world.

I liked the cereals and water that were available for free

I didn't like that I had a problem organising the check in Booking confirmed my request for late check in and then the hotel said they don't do late check in and that I had to call to organise. But at the end I said they had to organise it because first it costs to call in England and also because iit was not my fault if they didn't communicate well with booking and they accepted and organised it. Which is nice ! So thank you

slightly noisy outside my window at night, up until 10:30ish. also, the radiator was very hot and I couldn’t seem to turn it down effectively

The Tavern is very nice Staff very friendly We did the quiz night that was fun, staff very helpful on directions places to visit .The room was very clean nice bathroom very comfortable bed slept really well. Very little noise from outside you dont hear the bar or the on site theatre Only one thing would stop me booking again is the stairs but thats just me and my health . but I would recommend The Tavern , its on a great bus route 8 Bristol Zoo within walking distance bus and taxi very responsible , very nice frendly area night and day. Go for the day any bus ticket £5.50 hop on & off Take a ferry down the river.
