The staff at The Clifton were very helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel was great, very handy for Clifton, the university, shops, restaurants etc. Overall, it was clean and the facilities in the room were very good , kettle, hairdryer cafetiere, fresh coffee, biscuits, sweets and fresh fruit available in the reception area. Racks bar was very nice.

As mentioned in other reviews, the room was very hot, and that made it difficult to sleep even though a fan was provided. The windows only opened a small amount. The outside of the building is looking a bit tired.

God location for Clifton area of Bristol. Pleasant reception area . Contact by the reception team a few days before to clarify requirements and special request and to confirm booking .

The rooms are a little dated but well equipped with fresh coffee. Mini bar, fresh fruit etc. The breakfast area (a basement area which is a bar / restaurant by day and eve ) was pleasant and the breakfast choice was good . I had very mixed experience in relation to the reception staff. When we arrived the receptionist was welcoming and helpful and cheerful . The following day a different receptionist presented a very different attitude appearing to be more interested in reading her book than helping guests . At that time the reception area was untidy with glasses / rubbish left around the tables .

Whilst an older hotel, the Clifton was furnished to a good standard and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, with a great selection and the hot food freshly cooked to order. What stood out the most for us though were the staff who were friendly, very helpful and polite without exception. Whilst I did not get all their names I would like to mention Noah who was on the front desk along with his colleague Tamsin, both of whom were super helpful, and Ella who had an amazing work ethic early on a Sunday morning during a busy breakfast shift, all whilst wearing the biggest smile that we didn't deserve. Please pass on our thanks ❤️

Due to the location there is no avoiding noise from the local bars until around 11pm, after which the area quietens down.

Excellent staff - friendly and helpful both on reception and in the restaurant. Location is great for visiting Bristol city centre and Clifton and the Downs. There's a large sunny outside area for taking up the 241 cocktail offer before 7pm which was very popular. It's a bar and restaurant for the public but residents get a good discount and it wasn't noisy even though it was a Friday night, which was one of my concerns.

The single room was described as compact and was fine for me, average sized female, but a large man would struggle in the bathroom which is like you get in a ship's cabin. The room was very well equipped with coffee/tea and fruit, fridge, tv - everything just in a very small space!

The reception staff (we met four) were all really welcoming. The hotel is well placed in a nice district. The option to purchase secure, overnight parking in this central position of Bristol was a positive influence on booking this hotel. The room itself was a little on the small side, particularly the en suite - very bijou! But the bed linens, towels and comfortable bed were lovely. There were a couple of very nice touches; complimentary fruit, biscuit and cafetiere coffee in the room, and although dispensed from larger containers, the bathroom toiletries were very nice. The 'Do not Disturb' sign has an ingenious message on the reverse, asking that if guests are hard of hearing, they hang it outside of their door in case of hotel evacuation. The popular bar and bistro located in the basement, with plenty of outside seating, served a limited menu done really well, with generous portions and various offers on two-for-ones. Offering a relaxed menu, the food was freshly prepared and delicious. Breakfast was plentiful and anothr nicely, relaxed ambience was created. WE shall return without doubt.

The room itself was a little small, the en suite too small, and no-ones fault but a rather large spider was hiding under the bedspread!! The receptionist dealt with it with good humour. Venetian Blinds at the ground floor windows would allow for more privacy while allowing light than the current curtains.

Having stayed in a double room last time, this time we asked for a king size bed and found the room to have a bit more space. The bed was super comfy and the bed linen lovely, STaff very friendly, parking super easy. Breakfast was OK, but there are so many options in Bristol for breakfast.

The hotel is very hot - fans are provided in each room I think which is good, but the windows don't open omre than a few inches and heat rises, so above the ground floor is very warm in the Summer. Air con would be good - but expensive I know

Stayed for one night. Good location, easy walk to Clifton Village. Close to bus stop (Number 8 for Temple Meads) and supermarkets etc. Friendly, helpful receptionist who booked me a taxi (using Veezu who were great) and provided extra pillow, teabags and milk. Stayed in single room which was clean and comfortable with good shower and nice touches such as free fruit, tea, coffee and biscuits. Also a payable mini bar. Overlooked road but had double glazing so traffic noise not an issue for me. Restaurant/ bar on site.

Room was initially too hot for my liking but was able to turn radiator off so it was fine and didn’t need to sleep with window open as it was February. Guess could be an issue in warmer months when street noise could make sleeping with window open noisy. Decor basic and a bit dated but absolutely fine, in my opinion, given the comfort, value and convenience offered for a brief stay. As with most old buildings, soundproofing not great so had some noise from corridor/ adjoining rooms but thankfully minimal and not too much of a problem on this occasion.

The Clifton is a fabulous hotel; quite a traditional building but with a very modern vibe. The staff are all delightful. The bed is VERY comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. It was also a bonus getting a parking space in a locked garage; this is charged for, but is priceless in Clifton. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it.

Whilst the room and bathroom were incredibly clean, there were a couple of stains on the curtains which could do with being removed. It was a minor thing overall, though.

Lovely hotel. We've had a problem with our neighbour who was disturbing us during the first night watching tv on full sound and coughing/vomiting. We decided to call reception to ask this guest at least to turn the tv sound down. They were very helpful and solved half of this problem promptly, but coughing have not stopped and we could not sleep all night so the next morning I asked a to be moved to another room. The reception staff and cleaning staff lady was amazing. They moved us and even moved our luggage when we were away. Thank you!

Even though we were moved from one room to another one(very spacious and beautiful) it was extremely cold. Radiators started working after 1 hour and then during the night they were turned offed again. But even with radiators on the room was too big to make it warm. Hotel should consider to solve heating problem.

The staff are absolutely fantastic. Young, friendly, accommodating, just exceptional. A couple of things in my initial room needed addressing due to my health requirements and the staff went beyond to make me comfortable and have a pleasant stay. It was brilliant. I haven't given top marks for value for money as I always think hotel rooms could be cheaper ;) But I would absolutely stay here again. I would recommend asking for a room that isn't on the bar side as can imagine that may be quite loud but that's just me (someone who needs sleep and peace!) My single room was comfortable, cosy and perfect for a long stay (8 days).

I initially had booked a small single room, and I did find the one I was given initially too small - ok for an overnight or weekend stay but certainly not for anything longer as it was too cramped. Just a tip for anyone who is looking to stay there for longer than couple of nights.
