Great water pressure, hot showers with Elemis products including conditioner ❤️ Brilliant restaurant, every meal I had was chef's kiss. There was also a great offer running during August for huge savings on food. The waiting staff was also super friendly as was everyone I met at the front desk. Comfortable bed with firmer pillows. Dog friendly even in the restaurant area. The mini fridge helped me keep dog food fresh. Free glass of Bristol Cream upon arrival. The location is superb for transport links (even for a bus to Chepstow) and local sites. The park nearby is excellent for dog walks. I was moved to the Berkeley Suites which are PHENOMENAL. Suites only - brilliant little kitchenette (kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 stove cooker). Huge space in every room. Quiet area. Round corner from the main hotel. Highly recommended. Perfect if with a dog who normally has cooked meals. There's a large Sainsburys if you need to buy groceries not far from here.

Noise was unbearable in room 14. There were loud building works together with music from 10am-5pm. You then got an hour relief before the baseline started dropping from the restaurant below. When I visited there were also parties from the bar (also below) which was noisy. I would contact the hotel far in advance when booking to ensure you're placed in a quieter section of the hotel. Ella was a lifesaver in moving me. I will forever be in debt to her. Breakfast tea was loose leaf which, although delicious, was annoying. Would rather have teabags. I didn't stay long enough - had such an amazing time and am kicking myself for not being able to work my way fully through the menu at dinner.

We went as a family we hired three rooms for six of us for two nights as it was our child’s graduation. The location for the Wills Memorial Building was spot-on as my child had an early morning graduation. Thank goodness They had parking in a building further along the square and lucky for us there was one space left as you are not able to park on the roads at all unless you pay and display the extortionate fee!

Had the graduation been in the afternoon I probably would’ve got a hotel in Clifton, as the rooms were so small. My husband and I were in a suite and the floor was slanted throughout the whole suite, which was weird but probably because the building is so old.

My daughter and I stayed one night in a superior double on the third floor. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, lovely coffees and teas, and, though we didn’t use any of it, the mini bar seemed well-stocked. The comfortable bed had a good supply of cushions, quality bedding and the headboard was comfortable to lean up against when reading in bed. Lovely Elemis toiletries in the en suite bathroom. There was a helpful guide to Bristol, which we didn’t require as we were only staying for one night. The Alice in Wonderland style messages on the complementary sherry - “sip me” - and on the ‘phone - “we’re all ears” - made us smile, as did the room names. The staff were all very welcoming and throughout our stay seemed genuinely interested in getting to know us. Unfortunately we ran into an issue at night, but the night porter was really helpful, supportive and couldn’t have done more. Breakfast, despite having a dairy allergy, was sufficiently stocked for us. We were greeted with a smile, immediately offered tea/coffee and from the table service menu, we chose the Full English, which filled us up sufficiently that we didn’t need anything from the small buffet. Parking was easy in front of the hotel - £3.70 via the RingGo app for one hour, £7 for two hours. It was a maximum of two hours though, so I paid the £17 to use the locked garage belonging to the hotel. We ate dinner at Pizza on the Park (details on the hotel website), where we had a lovely meal, although the Square Restaurant in the hotel also looked to have a good menu.

We couldn’t fault the hotel.

the location, the decor, the comfort were all excellent, the staff were all very welcoming and pleasant. Noah was very helpful on checkout rectifying the few disappointments we'd had. Safe and secure parking

There was a wedding on the Saturday which meant we had no access to the Square bar, then a private function on the Monday closed it to us again so we ended up just staying in our room, before heading out later. Also Sunday breakfast ended at 9.30 due to this wedding party, but we'd been told 9.45 and 10am for final breakfast, arriving at 9.38 we were told we'd missed it and although very apologetic, there was nothing they could do. If we'd known there were 2 private parties during our 3 day stay it would have been appreciated as we were denied the 20% off food and 10% off drinks offer as couldn't even access the bar. However, on checkout they were very apologetic and helpful.

A quiet location overlooking a park yet in the middle of a city. Within walking distance of so much. The attached restaurant was beautifully and uniquely appointed - artwork and plant life featuring large. The service and food were very good, and the guest discount helped make the prices unremarkable. Leaf tea.and ground coffee with fresh milk in the room were a very nice touch and much appreciated.

Room cramped, and chair under superfluous desk took up far too much important space. Hairdryer as effective as an open window and a prevailing wind. There had been a wedding in the days before our arrival and there was still evidence thereof in the lobby and outside when we left three days on. Attention to that would have made the kerb appeal (and what a kerb!!) much better.. Still, a very pleasant and comfortable stay!

The reception team were extremely friendly and helpful and made a very welcoming approachable environment. The room was done out in lovely decor and extremely clean. Even the smaller cosy room that I was in, had a little mini bar. It’s a great location in a beautiful building.

Nothing I didn’t like but would have been nice to have the mini bar with bit more choice, it had the space. I would have had more but it wasn’t very cold either. Also there was a wedding on so didn’t get to use the bar areas at all as I planned which was Shame but can’t be helped. The botanist 30 seconds away nearby is lovely!

Location is fantastic; Staff super helpful and always available 24x7. Great toiletries, love Elemis products. Love the touch of a little carafe of Bristol Sherry in the room and fresh milk, tea leaves and coffee grinds to make fresh brews. Secure car park available for stay.

Room has lots of potential having been recently renovated but feels like it was only half finished! i.e. bed is old and very soft; small sofa in room is filthy with stains, these should have been replaced when room redecorated. There for 2 nights, but cups/glasses not replaced when room cleaned, left to wash them up ourselves. Wasn't forewarned that there was a wedding and therefore restaurant and sitting lounge were out of action all day/night. When there was a group of us across 3 rooms we needed somewhere to gather and chat as none of the rooms are big enough.

Hotel easy to find and staff in reception and at breakfast were very welcoming and friendly. Only there for one night - breakfast was very good and the yoghurt/fruit/nut mix in the individual Kilner jar was superb. Good choice of full English and the usual croissants etc etc. Hot water in the bathroom was instantly very hot!! Nice complimentary small carafe of sherry in the room which didn’t last long (😂)

Taps to the shower over the bath (which was an attractive roll-top type) were a bit inaccessible because the quite large shower screen was almost right up against the sink and difficult to pull open to get to the controls. Bearing in mind the water was very hot, and we were there for less than 24 hours, we used discretion instead of scalding and showered when we got home!

The accommodation was really nice. The room was cosy and comfortable, with lovely touches here and there. The bed, linen, and pillow were good. The area is quiet, well connected, and within walking distance of the centre. The staff were polite and friendly!

The corridor was a bit noisy—not due to any lack of consideration, but because the building is old and you can hear footsteps, keys jangling and doors opening and closing. The same goes for the showers: you can hear the boiler when someone in another room takes an early or late shower, which can disturb your rest.

The location was excellent for my requirements. The breakfast was OK. The pastries were fresh and delicious, the cooked veggie breakfast was good. The room was very comfortable and the complimentary sherry was much appreciated. The staff were excellent.

Breakfast was a little let down by the veggie sausage/felafel which was more of a paste and the coffee which was from a bygone era, coffee can be easily so delicious these days. In all its not really worth the £18. The snuggly top cover and cushion had some nasty stains which the maid immediately changed for me the next morning. The shower was a little under-pressured but adequate for the purpose. These are all minor niggles.
