Breakfast was amazing, simple and very authentic. You could feel the love and care put into it. Facilities were extremely clean and very compact. The property managers/owners were charming.

I did feel like it was a b&b where I had to mince around a little because of how clean and quiet it was (floorboards do creak), and the walls can be rather thin with guests in the other rooms. You absolutely cannot eat anything messy or soupy in the rooms (rules) but I also felt there wasn't a common space to do so if I brought back food.

We stayed here from 17th-19th Nov 2024 and it was in the middle of winter where it snowed and the weather was nothing but heavenly. This was our first time in Skye and thought of using the property as our base as we explore the isle. We arrived at the property quite late at night around 630pm and Jo was nice enough to wait and attend to us although I did inform the property in advance. I have zero complain about the place. The bed in was comfy. There was coffee and biscuits in the living room. The heating was sufficient. Wifi was blazing fast. They had power sockets aplenty all over the unit. Bathroom was very nice although it got really cold still. We looked forward to breakfast from Jackie everyday and she was a very pleasant character. All in all a great place to stay if you plan to use Portree as a base.

I just wished the bathroom sink was not too short.

It was walking distance to the Square and the restaurants. The breakfast was a Scottish breakfast, breads, jams, toast, coffee, milk, etc. Jim was there and greeted us and we saw both he and Pauline each morning at breakfast. We enjoyed chatting with them and other guests during breakfast. It was very quiet, except when we opened the windows to cool off our room. Otherwise the road noise was unnoticeable. If booking, be sure to read and remember Jim’s email about the ferry at Mallaig. We didn’t reserve and it wasn’t running when we got to Mallaig. I forgot about Jim’s warning and had a lovely 100 mile side trip to get to return to Fort William and go the way I should have. Worth the drive out to Mallaig anyway.

We loved our stay at Taigh Duitseach. Cosy, comfortable and well appointed room with a great view across the bay. Friendly and helpful hosts who also provided excellent breakfasts. The hotel is only a short walk to the centre of Portree and all restaurants and shops. A perfect base for exploring the wonders of Isle Of Skye!

The room was quite small but this didn't impact our enjoyment.

I had a great experience at Taigh Duitseach. Jim and Pauline were very welcoming and the property itself is fantastic. My room was very spacious and beautifully decorated. I loved the little touches such as the Highland Cow shaped shortbread. It's a short walk into the centre of Portree along a path with great views. The breakfast was fantastic too. Can't wait to come back!

Breakfast was excellent - good choice, well presented, liked self service, - would have liked some non-dairy milk. Our apartment was really clean and comfortable. We liked that the location is a short walk to Portree.

The heating was at 27 when we arrived and while it was great to be warm it was too hot at night ( in October!) Turning the thermostat down meant we had a very comfortable second night

Very tasteful guesthouse, clean and cosy. You can see that the owners love what they do. European style bathroom with one tap. What a nice change from the British hot/cold system! Good breakfasts served only for an hour so everything is fresh. 5 minutes walk to the centre of Portree.

Our stay there definitely passed too quickly. ;-)

One of my favourite places to stay when travelling in Highlands. The room was very well equipped and lovely decorated. Modern, big bathroom with extra toiletries just adds to the comfort to the stay. Great views from the bedroom too! Fantastic breakfast with loads of choices . I will be back if coming back to the Isle of Skye as the island is just magical :)

The Taigh Duitseach B&B in Portree is a perfectly charming and perfectly situated spot for exploring The Isle of Skye. Right at the edge of the center of town, but not in the “midst” of the busy-ness, it’s a pleasant and short 15 minute walk into the heart of the commercial district. There’s ample free parking right at the side / rear of the house and a VERT “Full Scottish” breakfast. The breakfast room is charming (next to a kitchen and its antique stove next to a modern one) and host Jim is rightly proud of the property which was built just before COVID hit. It has an old-fashioned style but with modern accoutrements: great shower and lovely sitting room. It was an ideal “two night” stop for our exploration of Skye’s otherworldly beauty. We had the property’s largest suite: 2 rooms, one with a double bed and private bath connected to a second room with a single bed, couch and sitting area: perfect for a couple with a young child, or even two. A coffee maker for instant pre-breakfast caffeine is provided with small cookies. Also, new disposable tooth brushes. A nice touch.

The room was extremely spacious and clean. It had a huge wardrobe and sofa with coffee table, below a window with a great view of the water. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. Lastly, the owners were absolutely lovely. Would stay here again and recommend family and friends to stay here!!
