Very nice and well located in Portree, this hotel has a great potential. Interiors are very nice, the rooms looking towards the countryside have outstanding views. We have spent two nights here, in a moment (see other reviews) when the hotel was running short of staff, and there were many small issues. However, the staff has been very helpful in minimizing such disfunctions

As said above, at the time of our stay the hotel/restaurant were clearly running short of staff. The service was slow and inaccurate both at breakfast than at dinner (the food however was of very good quality). We recommend this “premium” hotel (prices are not at all cheap!) to review its organization in terms of staff and attention to details.

Where to begin…we chose the right season to visit. Therefore, we had the hotel practically to ourselves. We were able to enjoy 100% of the facilities with no hassle. The staff was more than helpful, adding charm to our stay , the quality of the breakfast was excellent, although, sadly we couldn’t enjoy the restaurant for dinner a it was closed(off shoulder season made for scarcer, but still very enjoyable choices). Their tranquility room adjacent the sauna was just was we needed after a day of hiking. The garden area was perfect to enjoy a glass, or in our case, a bottle of wine while stargazing. PERFECT, is the adjective i will use to describe our stay. A very special thanks to the entire staff at Marmalade. We will return.

Nothing…..we LOVED everything!!!

We loved our stay but initially I was a bit disappointed in our room with a big coffee stain in the corner and a stain on the sheets. However- the staff were amazing and the restaurant was really delicious too! I had wanted to meet the women whose names were on every email but gave up after asking multiple people at the front desk if they were them lol. We stayed in the older section and the top floor. The view out the window was lovely of the ocean altho it was pouring rain almost all of our visit lol. We really enjoyed the Isle of Skye!

For the cost we felt our room needed some updates

We really liked this property, it was clean, modern and comfortable. They provided water, nespresso and local bath products which we really enjoyed. Ample parking was available and although we didn’t dine in the restaurant looked nice. There was a comfortable sitting lounge as well.

I would say if you are traveling with a lot of luggage it might be difficult to carry up and down the stairs as this hotel has no elevator, the nice woman who checked us in offered to help but our bags were heavy and there was no way we were going to let her carry any of them. There also did not seem to be a way to control the temperature in the rooms, we were so hot at night and without the ability to control the temperature we had to sleep with the window open which was loud. We overheard another guest asking about thermostat as well.

We loved almost every aspect of our stay! And have been telling both Scots and other Canadians about how wonderful the accommodations were. Celiacs… run to this hotel. They not only accommodate a gluten-allergy but they cater to it. For example, I had gluten-free croissants for breakfast and they were great 😍🤯😍! The servers and hosts were all fantastic, especially a woman who wore a little horse pendant around her neck… I can’t remember her name but she stood out as a superstar. The location is perfect. Just far enough to be off the main tourist path and just a quick walk to be right in the middle of town of Portree. Also, loved the bathroom products.

If I’m being very picky, and because I’m asked, the only thing I would improve is the pillow situation. They were very hard and over stuffed. Made it difficult to sleep, so we just slept without. Other than that, the bed was very comfy.

The staff was wonderful, nothing but compliments for them. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom amenities were thoughtful and generous. It was 7-10 minutes’ walk to town.

We had a couple things not working in the room and the staff was unable to fix them. We did get a very nice unsolicited reimbursement for our troubles that made up for the dysfunctions. Of our one week stay in Scotland including in Edinburgh and Skye, this was the most expensive room per night and it didn’t even include breakfast so it not our best value.

Staff: All were excellent. Front desk were lovely, and went out of their way to assist us in every way; they even contacted your sister hotel's restaurant (Dulce & Broke) to complain about poor treatment we had at the hands of one of its staff. We did not eat at Marmalade restaurant as it was closed, but did have several drinks at the bar on both nights. Bar staff were terrific!

As wonderful as our stay was, prices were high. Also, the gardens around the rear of the new wing need tending.Lots of weeds, grass that needs cutting, and empty flower boxes. One expects more of a hotel that is this. "nice" and charges this much.

Everything about the Marmalade is perfect. I highly recommend to anyone traveling the Isle of Skye and staying in Portree you must stay in this boutique hotel. The room, the food and the staff are exceptional. My friend and I spent 3 weeks traveling Scotland and stayed in five different hotels - and some were "high end" - but none came close to the Marmalade - it was by far our favorite.

The accommodation was great and we would definitely recommend it to everyone! If we ever return to the Isle of Skye, this hotel will be our first choice. We expected the hotel will be beautiful and new but it managed to exceed our expectations! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and large. The bathroom including the shower was great. They have our favorite brand of cosmetics. The breakfast was more than delicious. The staff is very kind, they helped us book a restaurant on new year's eve! The best hotel we ever visited!

Location great for the short walk into Porteee with the benefit of ample parking in their own carpark. Nice views from our room. The room was spotless, with a really powerful waterfall shower that also had the benefit of a powerful adjustable smaller shower head for those who either don’t like rainfall showers or for those occasions when you would prefer not to use one. Breakfast on both mornings of our stay was extremely good too with a decent choice of cooked to order dishes.
