This was the best property in our trip in whole of Scotland (which included the main cities). The rooms are exceedingly well appointed, each with its own particular decoration and charm, and very spacious. The hosts were supper attentive and helpful, the breakfast was superb, served a la carte. It is well located, 5 mins outside the village of Portree, in an excellent location from which to explore the whole Isle of Skye. It is relatively expensive if compared to other b&bs, but worth every penny.

Nothing to complain

We came to Scotland for 16 days and the 3 we spent with Georgie and her husband Rick were the best. We felt like we were staying with good friends, the house was so comfortable, cozy, spotless clean, huge bathroom, toiletries that I'm going to have to figure out how to import, plenty of towels, comfortable bed. And the breakfast... omg the breakfast is amazing. Plenty of privacy when you want it, but also the ability to talk to the owners and guests when you want. We looked forward to each night there and starting each day off there. They catered to my gluten free needs and let me tell you, it was delicious and I started each day on a full stomach. If we ever come back to Skye, I hope we get to stay with them again, we enjoyed it so very much.

We like everything about Canowindra! This was our favorite B&B of our two week trip around Scotland. The property is first class, and Jack and Georgie are wonderful host! Georgie, thank you so much for the wonderful Takeaway breakfast you made up for us on our last morning there. We are sorry we had to leave early and miss your wonderful hot breakfast, but we had an early ticket for the ferry and had to leave early in time to get to our scheduled departure.  We hope your daughter enjoyed a fantastic 10 year birthday!

Hot water was not working well the first night we were there. We reported to Jack and he fixed so it was working well the second morning. Otherwise, everything was wonderful. Not a complaint just noting because of how quickly Jack took care of a problem he was not previously made aware of !

I went up to Skye with an old friend who had never been to Scotland before to show her one one of the beautiful places in Scotland, do some hiking, and relax. And Canowindra was a fabulous place to relax. The owners are such sweet people! The breakfasts were great! I love an excellent classic Scottish breakfast. And our room was one of the nicest I've stayed in on holiday for years. I could live there! And after some good hikes during the day the wonderful clawfoot bathtub really helped.

This is not critical... It would be amazing if Canowindra were within walking distance of downtown Portree so one would not have to drive to go out to dinner.

An absolutely beautiful B&B. Very, very tastefully decorated with lots of thoughtful extras. The whole place was stylish and welcoming, and breakfast was not only delicious and plentiful, but also beautifully presented. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

There was nothing that we would change. It was by far the best place that we have stayed in on our tour around Scotland.

Canowindra is in a convenient location. The beds are comfortable and the shower was relaxing. Rick and Georgie are wonderful hosts and shared hints to enjoy the island. The Breakfast was delicious....don't miss Georgie's homemade granola!

clean, comfortable, quiet, fabulous location.

We arrived during a rare heatwave, and the room didn’t have a fan. it got a bit warm in the room. Opening the windows did help, but there wasn’t much breeze so it took a while to cool down. No door or curtain in the shower so water splashed into the bathroom. Loved everything else about the stay, and would definitely stay there again.

The co-owners, Georgie and Rick are definitely in the correct business. It's clear they enjoy people, and made us feel cared for. Communication with them was excellent, both prior to, and during our stay. Years ago, when Georgie was fully booked, she took it upon herself to find alternate accommodations. We were so grateful that we simply had to stay with her this time around. We're so glad we did! The layout of Canowindra allows guests to feel at home in public and semi-public spaces without feeling they might disturb the owners. Still, we found them to be so incredibly responsive whenever we needed them. Of particular note were the super-comfy beds. We do not fall asleep easily, but most definitely did at Canowindra. We had three of the four rooms, and all of us slept so well! We visited four properties on our trip, and this was far and away the most comfortable! At breakfast, guests could choose from a variety of offerings. The owner, Georgie, was both attentive and unobtrusive. She made sure we had everything we wanted, and was also available to answer any questions we had about our day's activities. We greatly benefited from her years of knowledge about Skye.

Beautiful B&B just outside of Portree. It is very well appointed with attention to details. Breakfast was a dream! Try the homemade granola. The hosts are friendly and accommodating. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
