Great for families and elderly folks too. Amazing views from our room and outside. The pool had lovely temperatures and was very clean. The shop was lovely and the lady serving there was very friendly. The arcades were a great addition to keep the kids amused in the evening. Great for entertaining them in all weather! Definitely need more than just one day here as there is so much to explore.

Parking was hard, we had to leave the car about a 20 minute walk away. And the bath towels are absolutely miniature! They are great if you have a 2/3 year old but other than that they might just about dry up to your knees. The seating arrangements for dinner is really unnecessary as there were a lot of guests and our son is severely autistic, We sat down right in the middle row of the room so it was incredibly stressful for him. Upon asking to move away from all the noise, the youngest waitress with brown hair that looks 16 was completely miserable about it and looked as though we had asked for her kidney or something.

Room Condition: Guest rooms are on the small side and show their age; fresh décor and updated furnishings would elevate the experience. Water Access: There’s no bottled water or water fountains in the corridors—guests must collect drinking water from the ground‑floor restaurant. Building Layout: Some corridors and staircases feel cramped and maze‑like, which could pose an issue in emergencies. Bathroom Fixtures: The bathtub, taps and basins are dated and not intuitive to operate—kids especially found it tricky to regulate hot and cold water.

Room was furthest away from the stairs . the bathroom door didn’t shut and the fan was really noisy so on its last legs. I complained and was given a new fan which was much better but nothing could be done about the bathroom door as it was broken . I felt that I was given a bad room as I didn’t book direct with the hotel because it was mentioned when I checked in

Felt a bit dated , my room wasn’t the nicest , dark , not good view and broken door. I also felt charging for the pool towels was cheap , they should have just been given to use free

We had some cleanliness problems in bathroom on arrival but they sorted these out immediately. Towels were small and not soft. Food was amazing good value for money and I'm a picky eater. The entertainment team were great. All the staff were very polite and helpful.

Beds were really hard and even though they have me a topper, my back was very sore. Also no socket near bed even though it's advertised here and no glasses in room. Toiletries is some liquid wash. Cost of parking is £10 for 24 hours if booking through this site.

The swimming pool is lovely and I liked the spa facilities too! It was like a proper little holiday resort. There was lots to see and do around the hotel and everyone was friendly and helpful, there was good vibes throughout the entire hotel!

It could of done with air con around the hotel as it was very hot and finally the lift situation wasn’t ideal being on the top floor and only being able to get to the third floor in the one very small lift that was working out of the two which were also very hot and if someone pressed a button you’d be up down up down the lift for a while until you get to where you want to be! Other than those two minor things, we have had a lovely time and will be back again and again in the future :)

The hotel has a vast amount for the kids to enjoy, kids clubs, parks, pools and spa. The pool and bistro had a holiday feel to it and with the sun out it felt like we could have been abroad. Staff were helpful, room was clean and comfortable enough. Location was good, a lovely pan Asian restaurant nearby, a convenience store and just a 10-15 min stroll to Torquay where they have a funfair and lots of shops, restaurants and the beach.

The outside of the derwent looks quite run down and it took us a while to navigate our way through the corridors.

The breakfast choice was extremely good and there was an option to order your choice of freshly cooked eggs. The rooms were clean & bed comfy. There was evening entertainment should you wish to stay in the hotel. The Fire & Ice Spa was lovely for relaxing and the inside pool looked great, although I didn’t use it.

There is the usual environmental sign about towels in the bathroom, I left mine on the towel rail to dry but they still changed for new, totally unnecessary in this age of environmental awareness, especially in such a large hotel if this happens in every room. I did comment on this to the reception staff.

could not sit where we wanted at breakfast, fried eggs a little over cooked but overall , good, Should have booked direct with hotel for free car parking.

Lots of fun activities for families. Facilities are adequate for stay-in holiday when the weather’s not good for outdoor sightseeing. The staff in Aztec restaurant were superb - very friendly and hospitable!

Carpets and family pool need renovating/updating, and I understand it must be hard to keep everything clean due to the number of people staying in. The receptionists looked glum.
